I stopped in for a quick restroom break and to grab some lunch. When I walked in, there were only two other customers, so it wasn't busy at the time. Unfortunately, the restroom wasn't very clean, and the soap dispenser wasn't working. I let a staff member know right away and hope it was addressed promptly. I had to make do with water and hand sanitizer, which wasn't ideal. As I looked around the dining area, I also noticed that the restaurant itself didn't appear very tidy. There was food and clutter in several areas, including behind the counter, which felt a bit chaotic. It's possible they had just finished a lunch rush and hadn't had time to reset the space, but cleanliness is something I've noticed can be inconsistent at several locations. On a positive note, I ordered the new Chicken Al Pastor bowl with lettuce, sour cream, rice, black beans, and mild salsa -- and the food itself did not disappoint. The chicken was flavorful with a nice hint of spice, and the bowl overall was satisfying and well-balanced. I genuinely enjoy the flavors and quality of the food, but I do wish there was more consistent attention to cleanliness. This place has gone down hill. Lack of headship and management. Needs a good clean and structure. Employees struggle to keep up with what's going on. They are reactive on when things need to be refreshed or replaced on the line. This leads to long wait times and poor experiences. Would love to see this place turn around. read more

We arrived at 2:30 pm and our dining experience was less than enjoyable. The outside of the business was cluttered with an endless stream of empty food containers, soda cans and other assorted paper and debris. Inside of the business the floor and dining tables needed to be swept and wiped off. The serving line was in need of refilling as the containers of meat, rice and vegetables were almost empty, and the white rice was totally empty, and no other white rice was available to refill the container. I don't know if it was lack of staff (only 2 employees were there) or just negligence that was the reason for the condition of this business. read more

I did a mobile order and the gentleman working was so friendly and had such a big smile. I had a very disappointing experience recently. My son ordered a steak bowl, and there was hair in his food. That alone was unacceptable, but what made it worse was the lack of customer service afterward. I tried calling the store for two days straight and couldn't get through to a real person just an automated system that never connected me to anyone. As someone who usually enjoys the food, this experience was really frustrating and unprofessional. Food safety and customer service should always be a priority. I hope this location improves how they handle situations like this, because right now I'm a very unhappy customer. read more

Chipotle Mexican Grill is pretty much my go-to when I am looking for a fast-food meal. While I would not call the food at Chipotle Mexican Grill anything even remotely close to authentic Mexican food, it is still rather tasty and relatively healthy, especially when compared to the food offered by the huge fast food burger chains. This particular Chipotle Mexican Grill location opened in Athens, Alabama and was conveniently located to the hotel that I was staying at, so it was a convenient place to grab a meal. My go-to item at Chipotle Mexican Grill is their burrito bowl. I change up the proteins, but I usually go with either their steak or chicken option (or sometimes half steak and half chicken). I have also been getting the carnitas more and more. All are good options. The staff here was friendly enough as I walked down the assembly line and I picked my various choices and toppings. The ambiance here is your typical Chipotle Mexican Grill. In addition to its close proximity to my hotel, it was also convenient to people traveling the highway. Athens, Alabama is certainly growing and with that growth they are getting more dining options. This Chipotle is a great addition to the Athens, Alabama area. read more

Bathrooms were filthy and I waited a good while before bing served even though there was no line and 7 or more employees in the kitchen. I know it's new but they forget my chips every time when I order in the app, and it's not cheap for a college kid. Watched an employee take a persons money and then with the same gloves on make the next persons burrito. I then tried to order a chicken quesadilla and was told that had to be done online as it was a special order and when I asked why was told that they had to use a special machine to make it? When I went to pay for the drink that I ordered I asked the person taking my cash still with her gloves on if she would be changing gloves after she touched my money and she said she would. I did in fact see her take her gloves off after she finished with my transaction. Thankful that we were just passing through and that this is not the Chipotle close to home. I'm not sure what's going on with the workers but they have the worst customer service and attitude I've ever had. If you order online they will most likely get your order wrong. Food and service is fine but all my food in my steak bowl is shifted to one side of the bowl. I imagine they didn't build it like this. So, maybe it was dropped or shifted violently? I was excited when Athens, AL opened their Chipotle as I had eaten at several of their restaurants in other locations and was always very pleased with their food, service and cleanliness. Unfortunately, the Athens locations serious attention. The last two times I went to the restaurant, I was not pleased. My experience last night drove me to write this review. I was ignored by the staff, even though there were 7 to 8 employees working. No one acknowledged me, i.e., good evening???? I will be with you in a minute????absolutely would not look at me or acknowledge that I was standing at the counter. I spoke, thinking maybe they were getting ready to close, as it was around 8:30. The staff member curtly said, we close at 10:00 but continued to ignore me. Looking around, there was one person eating in the restaurant and one person at the cash register. I fully understand staff members fill call-in, text orders and still must cook. Unfortunately, the attitude of their staff, the lack of cleanliness on the food line and in the kitchen and dining room made my decision to depart and go elsewhere. I will not be returning to this restaurant unless they go under new management and make significant changes. read more

Quick stop for burritos and the flavors were on point. Best cilantro rice I've had at a Chipotle in some time but the carnitas had chewy, fat bits mixed in. The staff was friendly and fast. Bathrooms were really dirty though and overflowing with trash, dirty walls, etc. read more

Went to chipotle in Athens, Al - to my disappointment I was not able to place an order for the famous steak quesadilla with fajita vegetables extra cheese side of sour cream and vinaigrette. I like Chipotle. I was glad when I learned they would be coming to Athens. But several times I have gone in to order and they are out of ingredients. I went in today to get a chicken burrito with onions and peppers, but they were out of onions and peppers. The worker said they were cutting them now, and it might be a minute until they are ready. As someone who has worked in a taqueria and has 15 years food service experience, I figured they had a machine that rapidly cuts up peppers and onions and they would need about 10-15 minutes to sauté them on the grill. So I sat in the dining room to wait what I thought might be 20 minutes or so, which I wouldn't have minded waiting. There were six visible workers milling around behind the counter, chatting and standing around. One of them asked me if I needed anything and I said I was waiting for peppers and onions to be ready. Another worker said, "oh it's gonna be a LONG time before those are ready". This was at 12:30pm - lunch time. A time when a restaurant might expect an influx of customers. And despite half a dozen workers who could be cutting, prepping, or cooking only one was doing anything, and that appeared to be making guacamole - an ingredient that was already well stocked on the bar. A well managed restaurant would have a worker prepping these things as they got low on the bar, right? Especially when you have 6 workers to choose from and 18 ingredients that require prep. Maybe even having some already pre-chopped onions and peppers in a tub in the cooler ready to be cooked up quickly on the griddle as the lunch rush uses them up, right? Apparently this is not the case as this location. They let ingredients run all the way out, THEN they start the slow process of prepping them so long as they don't have anything to chat about first. Its not professional and not good customer service. It's sad because I like Chipotle. Love the fresh ingredients and the flavors. They even have a good health score, which is why I like to go there. But it's hit or miss if they are even going to have the ingredients to make a burrito when you arrive. DO BETTER! UPDATE: Had to downgrade to one star. Came back a week later to give them another chance. Lunch time again. They STILL do not have peppers and onions stocked on the bar. I mean, it seems like a popular item if they keep running out, so maybe they should account for this by making MORE! When I got there, again there was a person prepping chicken on the griddle while the chicken was fully stocked on the hot bar. The thing missing on the hot bar: PEPPERS AND ONIONS. The thing no one was prepping or making more: PEPPERS AND ONIONS. I don't know about other locations, but this one is terribly mismanaged. They don't know how to keep items on the bar. read more
