Such a gem in the Dupont neighborhood! The employees are extremely knowledgeable about all the tea offerings and are great teachers/servers. The shop itsself is filled with so many beautiful ceramics and is overall such a beautiful space to spend time in. This was a great way to experience tea house culture.

at $20 per person, its a bit of a hefty price tag but i still love this place -- basically unlimited rounds of tea with a yummy selection (including herbal options; the eight treasure tea was delish), unique plating, and an overall quiet atmosphere.

First time here and I enjoy it. The staff is very friendly and explains to you how to drink and enjoy the tea flavor that you chose to its best. There is a good amount of tea selection. Very nice seats but very few. It is nicely decorated inside. There is also a lot of goods to buy such as tea seats. A great place to go to relax or read a book.

Having moved from Georgetown, this tea shop is now in a corner in an otherwise residential area that offers sunlight, bricks, and a bit of greenery. It's much more of an experience than it used to be. They only have tea, no food, but you can choose between either just getting a tea to go or having the whole experience. I received a tea set and some guidance, and turned my devices off to have a bit of a zen experience slowly pouring my tea through different containers until it started to turn bitter. There are many tea choices. There is also the opportunity to browse through a wide range of high-end tea and related products. While the neighborhood is new, they seem to have plenty of regulars. It was not busy for sitting in the shop when I dropped in, but I've seen it get that way.

This place is nice and quiet and nicely decorated. The service was good and the teas were good as well.

It's such a GEM!!! The owner is super sweet and friendly!!! Sadly they are no longer serving food, since their new location does not have a kitchen. They will be bringing in house tea drinking back once they get the documents approved!!! I cannot wait to come back when I'm back in D.C!!! Such a quiet and welcoming place to enjoy a nice cup of tea!!! I'd come here by myself or even a date!!!

So glad I decided to visit on a whim when I was exploring the neighborhood during the EU open houses in May. It is a quaint space with not that much room but an intimate feel. Great for dates and gathering with close friends. The owner helped me decide on a lighter Taiwanese Alishan Oolong. She also taught me the technique to set up and pour correctly. You are provided with a refillable kettle of water so you can re-steep the tea as many times as you like. To top it off they sell tons of cute tea accessories and I bought a sample size of the same oolong I tried that day for a friend and hojicha powder as a gift.

This tea shop was so peaceful and gorgeous inside, and the staff were so kind and attentive! My friend and I wandered in on a hot day and spent a good 2 hours drinking tea, relaxing, and chatting. They also sell tea accessories, tea, and little trinkets. They currently don't have a kitchen so there's no food (they're still trying to orient in the new space after spending 25 years at the old location), but the tea selection is expansive. Most of the teas also come with a tea ceremony and the staff show you how to do it.

They opened a new location in Dupont! I missed out on their Georgetown location (which is now closed). But I'm so happy to visit their new location. The space is very beautiful, but on the smaller side (so you might have to wait for bigger parties!). It is $20 per person for any of the teas on the menu. You get unlimited hot water so you can keep steeping. We were there for over an hour and the tea kept getting better and better (I steeped it over 3+ times) It felt so wasteful to leave my tea, I wonder if they allow you to take home your blend to continue enjoying at home? The ladies there were lovely and seemed like they create relationships with their customers. This is the kind of business I will always support! Now I want to learn more about Chinese teas and learning to steep with different blends. Lovely spot! And very accessible in Dupont! PS, if you choose to sit on the platform where you take off your shoes, it might be uncomfortable if your leg falls asleep. So wear loose comfy clothes!

Absolutely the best tea house in the DMV to get actual tea and tea accessories. The owner, ching ching, is one of the sweetest business owners you will ever meet. She genuinely cares about her product and your experience. My wife and I love this place so much, we even had our wedding here! It was perfect.

Fantastic vibes and very good tea. Ching Ching offers up a super cozy and welcoming environment to tea enthusiasts and tea newbies alike. I highly recommend. She stocks a nice selection of teas. This is a must visit in DC! Come earlier in the day if you can, you'll be more likely to get a table quickly.

The sandwiches (we got cucumber, chicken salad, and egg salad) were just ok, but scones were suprisingly delicious! They were warm and buttery, and not too dry. The chocolate croissant was boring and stale, and the pistachio macaron's texture was good but tasted a bit artificial. The passionfruit panna cotta was so good - creamy and perfectly tart. It was my favorite from the list. I also really enjoyed their teas - my cousin got the masala chai and I got the apricot oolong. Both were super delicious, and I would definitely choose the masala chai again. The flavor and spices were perfect. The service was decent and they were pretty quick to bring out the tea and snacks. Overall, I recommend Lady Camellia for a more budget-friendly option for afternoon tea.

Its location facing the water is great, but the space is way too cramped and the tables are overcrowded with flatware, sweeteners, condiments, and china. While I never expected the same level of tea service I've experienced in London, I was shocked at the dangerously inexperienced staff, who I watched pour boiling hot tea into the lap of one of our guests not once but twice while trying to set down the teapot. The nearly $80 pricetag is hardly justifiable for hot water and carbs in a cramped setting. This is a cute spot that evokes an American Girl Cafe with a view, but it would do well to better train staff to clear space on the table before trying to set down a full teapot or tiered serving stand and teach them to hold spouts away from customers who are mostly women clad in very thin, delicate dresses.

The service is a bit slow by modern standards, but well worth the wait, and we passed our time pleasantly. Unlike many tea houses, they have more than just one option for tea--there is an actual menu with several excellent options. You can also order a la carte. Their traditional tea options are very satisfying--wonderful scones. Loved the cucumber sandwiches and the Branston & cheddar! First time I ever encountered Branston, we ran out and bought some. There are a ton of tea flavors there and they let you smell them all before ordering. Although there is a full sandwich and entrée menu, we all went with the tea experience that came with tea, soup, scones, and finger sandwiches. The tea lived up to the billing and was mighty tasty - although only about 2-3 cups in each teapot (I feel like it should have been 4-5). The scones were uniformly delicious (my fave was the birthday cake scone), while the sandwiches were just OK. The bread on each sandwich overwhelmed the fillings/meat, so I just didn't get a ton of flavor. The service left a bit to be desired. We kept getting different servers, and that seemed to result in some confusion (i.e., being asked multiple times what we ordered, and food and tea coming out at different times). They missed an order completely, and the service was slow. They then asked us to leave as they needed to sit the next large group. No problem there as it clearly stated that the tea service had a time limit, but the only reason we hit it was because of the slow service and the need to fix orders (i.e., one whole person's tea service didn't come out with everyone else's). Also, the server said mimosas were half off but only after we ordered, did they say the half off didn't apply on Mother's Day! Overall, I'd go back again. The tea was excellent! But perhaps with a smaller group?

I've been to some bad afternoon teas, overhyped afternoon teas and some really great afternoon teas. Peacock Alley at the Willard Intercontinental is one of those great afternoon teas. I went on a Saturday during their 12PM seating. Tea and accompaniments are served over 90 minutes and costs $90 or $110 with a glass of champagne. This price is comparable to not only similar afternoon teas in the DC area, but also higher end afternoon teas in London. Peacock Alley has a wide selection of black, green, white, herbal and Roobios tea. It also comes with a mix of sweet and savory accompaniments including scones, ginger sandwiches and pastries. They were very accommodating with my request for no nuts and were very knowledgeable about all of the items served with tea. While you are only given 90 minutes I never felt rushed and was able to enjoy my tea and snacks. The ambiance in the tea room is amazing. They have soft harp music playing, the tables are arranged with ample space between them so you never feel that you are too close to other guests or those in your party, and the flatware accompanying tea is good quality. The service was quick and efficient and they were more than happy to accommodate someone in my party who was running late. There are a lot of afternoon teas at this price point around the city and this is one that is actually worth it. They also have a tea to-go service where you can enjoy the same food and tea at home for a slightly cheaper price. Overall I enjoyed my experience at the Willard Tea room and would definitely recommend it as one of the better upscale afternoon teas in the city.

My favorite items were the lobster tartlet, the scones, the ube mango basket and the matcha roulade. The best thing was they offered a fully gluten free menu for my friend and she said everything tasted great.
