My garlic chicken had a good balance of sweet and savory and I wasn't overwhelmed by garlic, a little more garlic would have been okay for me. We added an order of egg rolls and that was tender with just the right cook on them not to crunchy but still good flavor. I would ask for more soy sauce next time the portions they give need about 2-3 soy sauce per dish you order and then half a soy sauce for me for the egg roll. So my interaction with the cashier was at a minimum. However, my visit on Saturday was horrible. I did not place a to-go order because it was only for me. So I had time to waste. The gentleman taking the order was very rude, his customer service sucked. He seemed to be in a rush and had no entrance in waiting on me. I know I ordered cheese shrimp, but somehow he heard cheese chicken. I wasn't even a receipt until after I had gotten my food or I would have seen it before. I am new to the area, and I am trying to feel my way around the town. But this is a place I will not visit again. The food was not great at all. They had a buffet that looked as tho they offered a variety of options. But still isn't enough for me to return.

Very little meat in any of TW dishes. LCT would feed us 3 full meals (including 3 orders spring rolls). TW portion sizes are comparable but with very little protein for a single meal. As of December 2010, Chinese King Restaurant has been under new ownership. That means different chefs and slightly different recipes. However, the Wong Family is opening a new Cajun&Asian Fusion restaurant in Sulphur, LA called You Don't Know Jack. You can expect the same great taste and service that has served LaPlace for over a decade! You can find them on yelp as well. read more

I went with four other people so we ordered the family set which consisted of soup, egg rolls and four entrees to share. The egg drop soup that I selected was tasty enough but the various entrees left much to be desired. There was very little meat in the chicken lo mein and the cooked vegetables were greasy and underwhelming. Generally speaking, ALL of the dishes were greasy and synonymous in flavor. I expected the entrees to have a variety of flavor combinations authentic to the various regions of China but everything was covered in the same greasy brown sauce. We may have just ordered the wrong things but our first impression was not a good one. One highlight was that the waitstaff was very attentive and kind and the dishes did not take too long to arrive at our table. 4/10, I would try it again only if the tea duck is still on the menu!
