I have been getting take out from bamboo garden for several years now and in the last year they have gone down hill fast. Just went pick up some mandarin chicken and some fried rice and also some shrimp and vegetables. Mandarin chicken had absolutely no taste at all. Chicken was mushy and the fried rice didn't even look like it should nor have any taste to it. I actually put some seasoning on the chicken so it would have a good taste. This is my second time this year getting food from them and I'm sad to say it's probably my last. I'll have to try some of the other Asian places that we have. The generals chicken is excellent . This is my go to when I'm in Luling! I have more to explore on the menu but it is hard to go wrong here.

I've been there several times and the food has always been delicious. The staff there are always very welcoming and are great at anticipating your needs. The portions are generous, and the taste is definitely worth the drive. read more

Zero stars if I could, this place is filthy and disgusting which is expected when you eat at a cheap Chinese restaurant. If you want food poisoning then my recommendation is to go here, if not, stay far away. read more

let me start off with stating that the owner is pure trash. i went there to eat and i couldnt even eat my plate which was chicken, broccli and shirmp. when i got my plate the shrimp was not devained and was slimy. i couldnt even eat the plate and i brought it up to the attention of the front cashier and waitress. i showed them the shrimp and both cashiers agreed with me and called the owner since she was not there. they told the owner about my concern and she owner said that "they only deveined the shrimp during dinner time and i should of known to ask if the shrimp was deveined or not. i told the staff to tell her that nobody asks that and we should assume she is not using cheap shrimp and that any good resturant would use good deveined shrimp. she refused to give me a credit for the shrimp. i offered to pay for the meal just not the extra shrimp since i couldnt eat it. even tho i didnt eat any of the plate i still offered to pay but she refused to credit me back and told her staff that she was coming back to the store and she would talk to me. i had to leave because i had to work so i called the resturant back and talked to the owner. she once again stated that i should of known to ask for deveined shrimp. she started yelling and me and was very rude. she was literally yelling at me on the phone. i could imagine what the people in the resturant heard. i told her i was trying to just remove the shrimp or the drinks (soda) from my meal and thats it. she refused again and so i told her i would file a charge back with my bank and she got even more mad to the point i had to hang up on her. i will never eat here again. i feel sorry for her staff because they were understanding and tried to reason with her understanding that the shrimp was gross. i dont not recommend anyone go here and if you do you better ask if the shrimp is deveined or you will get a plate food of poop shoot. so gross. read more

Not great. It's like they tried to make Chinese food healthy. So bummed. The chicken taste boiled and the sauce is a clear watered down garlic sauce :( the crab Rangoon's have almost no cream cheese in them and the crab is a bit mealy. I got the Shrimp and Vegetables dinner special with white rice (lots of white rice), with an eggroll and a cup of egg drop soup. The soup was so good! It was still hot when I got home to Waggaman. The flavor was great too. Lots of eggs in it. The shrimp and Vegetables with the white rice was very tasty. It was so much that I couldn't finish even half of it but it will be great for lunch tomorrow. I loved that there were a lot of mushrooms in the vegetables. The shrimp were a nice size too. I wish I took a picture before I started eating it because I was surprised by the portion that I received. A lot of food for the money. I will be back to try more! read more

One of the go to Chinese restaurants in the Luling/Boutte area. Quick service and always has my order right. (I can sometimes be complicated) I always try new dishes and they have all been really good. My favorites are the Tong Cho Chicken and Shrimp and Lobster sauce. This place makes really good pork fried rice. I've actually never seen so much pork in my fried rice from any other place before. I also ordered vegetable lo mein; it was not my favorite, but it have good flavor. I personally did not like the tiny noodles that were used (more like an angel hair) as I prefer thicker noodles. Decent food but poor customer service. Asked for all white meat chicken, didn't get it. They said I didn't ask for it I said I did because I prefer it and know to ask because their Gen. Tao's comes mixed. So they said they had to call the manager because there wasn't any in the restaurant overseeing the service. So then I call back and they say either come back right now or there's nothing we can do. This was after I told them I live over 30 minutes away. And they said again it was my fault that I must not have told the cashier because she didn't write it down. Again I said I did and she repeated it back to me as all white meat. Bamboo Garden and I have had a strange little relationship over the years. When it first opened, it wasn't great. East Island was king in this town and this place couldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. And then... something happened. Rumor has it that the East Island folks went to Bamboo Garden (which I can neither confirm nor deny), but I do know that East Island (and the quality of their food) went downhill in a hurry and the place eventually shut down... and the food at Bamboo Garden got better. I started eating there again, and enjoyed it (although sadly, no one has come close to reproducing the ABSOLUTE AWESOME that was the East Island egg roll. RIP). After the kiddo came along I changed some of my evil dietary ways and found that a lot of the stuff on the menu here was just way too salty for my liking - the mandarin chicken especially, which was sad because it's one of my absolute favorite things in this whole world. So we didn't eat there very much. And then? I discovered the mixed vegetables. And the vegetable soup. And all was right with the world again. I'm at a point right now where I could easily eat there two or three times a week and not even think twice about it. Sadly, the guy doesn't feel the same way. Hmph! :) The mixed vegetables are sauteed in a light-colored sauce that's delicious and not too salty. The veggies -- onion, green pepper, broccoli, carrots, bok choy, pieces of baby corn, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, snow peas, and mushrooms -- aren't cooked to death, and in the sauce over rice? YUM. It can be a little onion-heavy at times, but I love onion so I'm okay with it. The veggie soup is just as good, and I have (shamefully) been known to eat the entire contents of the large take-out container in one sitting. By myself. (Don't judge!) The other stuff on the menu is a-ok (some of it is still a little on the salty side), but ohhhhhh I'm so happy to have found a local place where I can get some yummy veggies to fil my belleh. The service here is fine. Nothing spectacular, but definitely gets the job done and is cordial enough. The lady that's usually up by the register is easily worth another star or two if we were rating just her, though. She remembers names and relationships like nobody's business (my mom took our son to lunch there and she knew exactly who he belonged to), always seems super-stoked to see us, just adores the kiddo, and always stops by the table a few times to say hi and make sure we have everything we need. It's in a somewhat shady-looking strip mall (we've never had issues there, for the record), and they've recently added big tacky pictures of the food to the front windows and even handwritten-over-tape labels to the ones that were labeled incorrectly (this seriously makes me laugh every time I see it)... but the inside is surpisingly nice with wood floors, wood tables, non-construction grade fixtures. I could do without the small TV on the wall near the door, but I get that the general public doesn't necessarily agree. It's definitely a family-run business, and there's usually at least one kid doing homework at the first table by the register in the afternoon / early evening. The portions are pretty standard as compared to most other chinese food restaurants I've been to. An entree is the perfect size for sharing if you're not looking for a giant (standard American) portion when you factor in the rice, and f you add soup (or another appetizer) or an order of the combination fried rice, you'll probably end up with leftovers. Two entrees and you'll definitely be getting a box. :) Prices are quite reasonable - you can definitely feed a family here without breaking the bank. Again - LULING. (Or technically I guess it's Boutte - it's all practically the same thing really.) If you find yourself in this neck of the woods, Bamboo Garden is definitely on the "recommeded" list. read more

I cannot get enough of the sesame chicken and pork fried rice. The egg drop soup and pot stickers(dumplings) are delicious also. Portions are large. I have lived in Luling since 2002 and the ower now knows my family by name. She asks about my dad and is very nice. I usually order take-out and it's always ready and hot. They have high chairs for kiddos, ample parking, and ok staff. Some of the waitresses are still in high school and new so not the most attentive or friendly. read more

The Bamboo Garden is not much to look at from the outside, but the food is worth going in to find out. We always get take out from Bamboo Garden and it has never disappointed us. The hot and sour soup is one of our favs. The whole family always gets a dinner special. We have never had a bad meal and the portions are enough for two meals. Call ahead and your order will be waiting on you when you get there. If you want hot mustard, be sure to ask for some. They usually do not include it in the order. read more

I had spoiled shrimp in the shrimp fried rice I ordered, called to bring it back, got there was told in the rudest manner that I didn't buy it from there, pulled up the transaction on my phone showed it to them and the woman manager comes out telling me not to say that the shrimp are bad. I had to explain to her that it is rude to try to tell me what I should say. I tell her the smell is so loud you can smell them for yourself. She continues to make a scene instead of just apologizing and offering to refund my money. I was inconvenienced and disgusted. I will never visit this place again. read more

In high school I loved this place. We ate here all the time. I stopped coming because years ago but brother found something that does NOT belong in fried rice. I was thinking maybe to try it again.
