How do you tell somebody you don't want them to come into your establishment without telling them you don't want them to come into your establishment? You have a disgruntled face when we walk in. You also put the chairs up at 9:00 PM even though you close at 10:00 PM, then tell them they can't eat inside because it's "takeout only" even though it's still an hour from closing. Yep! That's exactly what happened to us tonight. I always wanted to try Golden Wok. Tonight was the opportunity. The chairs were already up on the tables, which didn't even bother me at first since I figured maybe they wanted to close early. Fine, I get it. So we walked around the corner to Sushi Sake (which I do highly recommend). When we came back to the car at 9:44 PM (we were parked right in front of Golden Wok) miraculously the chairs were no longer on the tables, and the sign still said OPEN. Guess they changed their minds and let folks sit after all. Just not us. So yeah -- zero stars. read more

Service was quick but food was very disappointing. I have ordered from here for years and food was always good. This time I ordered Special Egg Foo Young and Special Fried rice but it was not special. Egg Foo Young was bland and mostly egg, very little special. The fried rice was special on the top but mostly rice underneath. The wonton/egg drop soup was bland except for the amount of pepper that was so overwhelming I couldn't eat it. Eh. We are originally from Boston and have found that the Chinese food down here does not compare. We tried a little bit of everything. Some appetizers - crab Rangoon, chicken fingers (they call them wings), garlic chicken, orange chicken, fried rice, lo mein. Hard to explain, but it's just not the same. The duck sauce is fluorescent looking, not the same flavor. Everything else was just OK. Could take it or leave it. Did not leave me craving for more. I have ordered food from this restaurant at least six times over the past year and can confidently say that I highly recommend it. The staff member at the register is consistently friendly and welcoming, the prices are reasonable, and the food is excellent. I tend to order many of the same items each time, starting with the fried dumplings, which are outstanding and the only ones I truly enjoy. I also frequently order the pork fried rice, which is always flavorful and well balanced with pork, rice, peas, onions, and carrots. Their crab rangoon is another favorite, especially with the accompanying sauce--I always regret it when I don't order it. The egg rolls are also very good. While I don't eat Chinese food often, this is always my go-to restaurant when I do. The portions are extremely generous, and I usually have leftovers. read more

Somewhat on a mission to find Chinese that is close to the quality that I enjoyed in the STL. Here is my take on this place. We came in during mid afternoon so no line we placed our order for dining in and went to a table. All the tables were not cleaned off. So Mrs. K. asked for a wet towel to wipe of the table. At that point the cashier got a wet towel and wiped of one table ours. :) Had a moderate wait for the food as it was prepared fresh. I ordered the General Tso Chicken and fried rice. Tso's chicken was in the ballpark of what I am used to but not quite there. In my ideal world the sauce will cling to the chicken and the batter will be very crisp. This was a soft batter and it was somewhat crisp. So it was ok. Fried rice was really well made and had nice chunks of pork, peas, onions and was spot on. While Mrs. K. ordered an egg roll. This was the most perfect egg roll we have eaten in SWF. It wa the star of the meal. Based on the fried rice and egg roll we would come back and see what else we can find on the menu. read more

We ordered a large wonton soup, honey chicken with lo mein and another honey chicken with pork fried rice. He had the wonton soup and the honey chicken with lo mein. Couldn't be the honey chicken or the pork fried rice because I was fine. It's was either the wonton soup or the lo mein. It is safe to say that I won't be buying from them for a while. read more

I have ordered from China Wok in North Naples now for almost 3 years and especially during the pandemic. My food delivery was prompt and the food was hot when received. I left Naples in May, 2022 and returned end of August, 2022. They were my go to for delivery order after a long drive back to Naples. I called direct to the store at 5:04 pm and was told my order would be 45 mins to 1 hour. Strike 1. This is off season and in season I never waited longer than 30 minutes, 40 minutes tops. Strike 2 was they did not recognize my caller ID like past orders. Prior orders they tracked caller ID to addresses to make the ordering process faster. The person on the other end of the line was either new or uninterested because she did not know the menu or recognize my address (about 1.5 miles from their store). Strike 3. I called at 6:07 and was told my order was 5 minutes away. 30 minutes later, I called to cancel the order. At 6:49 I received a voicemail from the Driver with the food delivery. I asked if China Wok was under new management but my question was never answered. I would give 1 star for my experience that day but based on my prior experiences that would not be fair. I may or may not give them another chance. Chinese food in Naples is sub par wherever you go anyway. I'm spoiled having spent 3 months in northern China in 2019. The only Chinese Restaurants that come anywhere close to authentic are in NYC's Chinatown. You won't find anything of that quality in Naples. If you do, please let me know! Ok...personal opinion. Mongolian beef supposed to have "beef" in the dish instead it had 3 parts onion, 3 parts greens and .001 part beef. I get that the cost of beef is rising, but to skimp on literally 1 oz (I weighed it) for a dish is unacceptable. Crab Rangoon again 3 parts dough and .0001 parts crab. Unacceptable. I feel that my $30, yes $30 went into the trash literally since I also asked for steamed brown rice and received fried white rice. Lesson learned. read more

I've really had some bad luck lately with delivery food! (Except for www.naplesexpressmeals.com, the delivery was quick and they have a fabulous list of restaurants. It's a little pricey plus tip but worth it, think $10 extra including tip, not terrible) I called China Wok at 6:28PM. They said the food would be delivered in 40-45 minutes. I called after an hour and 15 min had passed, they said they were running behind and it would be here in about 10-15 minutes. It was delivered 24 min after the 15 min window expired. It was nice the delivery driver did at least apologize. The Honey Chicken came breaded and was WAY TOO sweet and had the consistency of porridge, alright maybe it was a bit more firm. I don't mean to exaggerate. I tossed it in the toaster oven at 450 degrees for 8 min which helped a little. It still tastes like pure honey with no other flavor. I wanted to ordered dumplings but they were out of stock. The Beef and Broccoli was decent. I can't say there was anything wrong with it. I also was not given a fortune cookie. Oh sadness. This place had good reviews (not here), it was busy when we walked in to order, nice people, had brown rice, however.... Tofu was weird texture, General Tsos dishes were just thin sugar and water, shrimp with black bean sauce had beans but no taste and no sauce. Shrimp lo mein bland. Put it this way, I ate a huge Lindt choc bar afterward to make up for my awful meal. Moral of the story: Next time, forget the meal, buy a bigger choc bar. read more
