    Sweet and sour chicken (Quart)

First time trying this location. I was very impressed with the quality and quantity provided. Will definitely be going back. Wait time to pick up food was very fast. Food was still very hot when I got home! Excellent overall.

I wish I had better news to report, but I can't, and I hate giving "negative" reviews. But, this is the 1st Chinese American food I've had where I couldn't eat half of my dish because it was inedible. I ordered sweet and sour chicken which is usually my favorite from a place like this, wonton soup, "steamed" dumplings, and pork fried rice. Half of my sweet and sour chicken was dried out and over cooked, and those pieces were also crispy. I've never had sweet and sour chicken where the breading was crispy and the chicken was so dried out it was hard to chew. The dumplings were actually ok, and I don't even prefer these style of dumplings, but they looked half fried and half steamed not "steamed." The rice was cooked properly, but I shouldn't have to bite into onions. The onions were larger than the pieces of pork. Lastly, the wontons in the soup were good, but the broth was a little off in flavor. Disappointing. Not even worth trying.

This was gravy container all over, excuse rice.

Their chicken tastes like plastic. The "chicken" they serve can't cost more than .50 cents for 10lbs.

**This review is based on a pick-up order.**…read more I called in this order, and the lady who took the call was quick and polite. Plus, the order was correct, so she was accurate too. Always a good thing. The food, however, was a mixed bag. First, I ordered beef and snow peas (I asked for it to be spicy), and the dish was among the best I've had in a long time. The peas were crunchy; the beef was melty; and the sauce was rich -- and spicy, just as I requested. Because I don't eat a ton, I ordered the upgrade (to fried rice, wonton soup and an egg roll) to share. Meh. The broth was nice, but there really weren't wontons in it. Rather, they were ribbons of way overcooked pasta. Not a deal-breaker, but nothing memorable. The egg roll was the typical freezer-to-fryer variety. Not terrible, but hardly plump and definitely not rolled in-house like the good ol' days. Finally, the fried rice is missing something. Not only do I believe that it was never cooked in a wok, but it also had a scant flavor of sesame oil and little else. I'm not usually one to tell people how to do their business. This time is different though, since I am not the only one to mention the bland 'fried' rice here. Use some soy sauce. Use the wok -- and not the microwave. And perhaps, use an egg and a little garlic. But hey! These guys have been in business for a minute, so we 'fried' rice detractors must be in the minority. All of that to say, this place does an outstanding job with the beef and snow peas. But next time -- if there is a next time (I live in Houston) -- I'll ask for the steamed rice and dress it myself.

The drumsticks were absolutely ginormous. They took 45 min to come out but were perfectly crispy outside and very well sauced. Not legit bulgogi but close enough to not be teriyaki beef either. The buldak was very spicy and had an interesting flavor. Kind of muted- not bad just not my cup of tea. Upon arriving, the restaurant was fairly nice but completely empty, so I thought I'd just eat in. Only to be told "you can't do that." I found it odd, but alas took my order to my hotel. One thing Bonchon ALWAYS gets right is the wings, and these were no exception. That said, the wings I had half my sauce in were incredibly small compared to the other half. One thing Bonchon ALWAYS gets wrong is to give you a fork and some stinking napkins. For the 100th time I had to take me coleslaw down like a chunky shot of tequila and nothing to wipe the wing residue away.
