What to improve, hmm hard to decide which is the most pressing issues. Let's start with what is right. . . . Ok that concludes what was right. Not much selection. What they did have was 90% empty. So we wait, thinking "maybe they'll bring out more soon". They did not. Over seasoned, overcooked and the only way it was considered "Chinese food" was because they still had the sign up to use gloves and sanitizer that was leftover from covid hysteria. (I thought that most people DO wash their hands prior to meals but perhaps thats just me). The entrees were swimming in so much sauce they needed a life vest. The chicken drumsticks lay withered and were mummified better than Tutankhamun himself. Bathrooms-which you WILL need, are ...ick. Good buffet at a good price. Super clean place and friendly staff. The location is very convenient too.

First time at this buffet. Location is in strip mall off Lamar ave. This is not the biggest buffet but it has all the standard selections. Fried food bar, salad bar, dessert bar, and hot food bar are included. The food is GREAT!! Probably the best tasting Chinese buffet I have ever had. Everything was fresh and hot. Very clean and great service. Price was $12.95 for lunch with soda. Very reasonable. Will be coming back for sure. read more

Went for lunch the other day. About 1hr before they close for the break between sessions. The food was hot fresh and tasty. They obviously didn't put a lot out and it was quiet there. I love Chinese food and China Star Super Buffet really does a wonderful job. I was impressed by all the different selections but too full to try them all in this visit. From Tsao Chicken, to Sesame chicken, Maple Bourbon chicken, Walnut Chicken and many others, all were very tasty. The servers were very polite and attentive and the place was very clean abd nice. Asked for some sweet and sour sauce for the 6 egg rolls we ordered with everything else, they wanted to charge me for it. All but one dish on the entire hot buffet included meat and/or fish. I had to pick through the Shrimp with Broccoli to get broccoli and carrots with watercress and no shrimp. (For those with allergies, this would not be acceptable, of course.) While the restaurant caters to the small-town mindset, it's not necessary for them to eliminate veggie items from the choices. One can always mix more veggies to a meat dish, but a true vegetarian or vegan can't eliminate the meat from their meal. The food I did have (green beans, broccoli/carrots/watercress, salad, fruit) was okay. I just feel that---even in a small town---I should have had more than one choice among the hot entrees at a buffet. read more

I lived in Southeast Asia for almost 4 years. In the States, I've never found Chinese food that measures up to what they have over there. However, China Star comes the closest I've found in Texas. It has a good atmosphere, really good food and the price is very reasonable, The wait-staff don't disregard you as some do at buffet restaurants, but they don't annoy you either. As to the comment about vegetarian or vegan food - They don't do that in China, why would you expect it here? Although, I would just about bet you that if you chose to put in a special order for it rather than expect them to meet unreasonable demands on their buffet, they would be more than happy to comply. Yelp lead me wrong on this place... had an hour to kill for lunch and decided some soup and dumplings sounded good so I found this place on yelp... well I got a table quickly and the server was very nice but the hot and sour soup is just okay and the dumplings I order boiled came out still partially frozen. They weren't cooked all the way so when I went to bite into it a cold frozen watery juice squirted out.... not what I had in mind.... FYI boiled dumplings here are not actually boiled they come out fried... I told the waitress and they just fried them some more and they came out greasy and crispy to my table and they still didn't taste good.... went to go check out and my tab for $4.95 dumplings and $2.75 soup came out to $10.25?!?! Oh yeah they were going to charge me a $1.90 for the water I had.... I had to get him to correct it... I even told the waitress I didn't like the dumplings and she apologized and walked off.... first time coming here and it's my last.... don't waste your money go find some place better!!!! read more

I give this place as many stars as possible! I love china star and have been coming here since I was young. Now that I'm in college I don't get to frequent the restaurant and I miss the food! My favorite thing is everything, they have a variety of chicken which is what I love and a few beef items which my boyfriend eats. The crab Rangoon are delicious but you can only get them on the buffet at night. Regardless this place is definitely worth trying if you haven't! read more

Wow.... Well guess what this isn't a vegan restaurant and I since I use to work here a while ago I know that they have menus for people who want to order off of them which have vegan options. Phoned in my order for MooGooGaiPan with WonTon Soup and Fried Dumplings. When I got home I discovered they failed to include my rice (which is included with the meal). Also the MooGooGaiPan must have been left over from the weekend (today is Wednesday). The vegetables were all soggy and over cooked like they were way over cooked. The texture of the food had an almost slimy texture to it. The soup wasn't any better. Old and soggy. The fried dumplings were good, though. Food is great, waiters are professional but not overly friendly. Its a little out of the way and prices are slightly high but seems to be the best Chinese food buffet in Paris. You'll want to check the hours as they're closed from around 2pm to 5pm I think. My wife loves the soft icecream. read more

I am currently eating here right now. I grew up eating here all of the time and am now at college in the DFW area. I have tried different Chinese buffets all over the area and NO other places compare. Every time I come home I HAVE to eat here at least once. The quality of the food is astounding. Like I said, I have tried MANY buffets and nothing ever comes close to the tastiness of China Star. The sesame chicken is to die for.
