Small but inviting place which appears to be run by family. Very friendly folks. Great fried shrimp and those egg rolls were terrific. Sweet and sour chicken that was not dry or overcooked. Fried scallops was a pleasant surprise as well. For a quick bite, this is a good choice. read more

Just wasn't good. Arrived at 11:15 and they were out of fried rice on the buffet. I had to spit out the sweet and sour chicken as it was crunchy. The only thing edible was egg rolls. Left at 11:25 and was $14.02 poorer for the experience. read more

What to improve, hmm hard to decide which is the most pressing issues. Let's start with what is right. . . . Ok that concludes what was right. Not much selection. What they did have was 90% empty. So we wait, thinking "maybe they'll bring out more soon". They did not. Over seasoned, overcooked and the only way it was considered "Chinese food" was because they still had the sign up to use gloves and sanitizer that was leftover from covid hysteria. (I thought that most people DO wash their hands prior to meals but perhaps thats just me). The entrees were swimming in so much sauce they needed a life vest. The chicken drumsticks lay withered and were mummified better than Tutankhamun himself. Bathrooms-which you WILL need, are ...ick. What started as a good idea for lunch turned quickly into a $25 lesson. The prepackaged fortune cookies were sadly, the best part of the meal-just because it meant we were leaving. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting! We will not be returning. They also don't have much of a selection. Golden China is way better. read more

China Star Restaurant - Chinese Near Me - Paris, Texas

Good buffet at a good price. Super clean place and friendly staff. The location is very convenient too.

First time at this buffet. Location is in strip mall off Lamar ave. This is not the biggest buffet but it has all the standard selections. Fried food bar, salad bar, dessert bar, and hot food bar are included. The food is GREAT!! Probably the best tasting Chinese buffet I have ever had. Everything was fresh and hot. Very clean and great service. Price was $12.95 for lunch with soda. Very reasonable. Will be coming back for sure. read more

Three stars because the food was that great this time. We even got there right when they opened and it just wasn't that great this time. Hope it's not a trend. Server was good like always. read more

Nice buffet for Paris. Not gourmet and has flaws but show me another place in town with stuffed crab. No music playing made for awkward silence. I had fun though and appreciated the selection read more

First of all I just left there to pick up take out. This place is so stingy with the food they had 4 ribs at 5pm in that huge tray! Why so stingy? 4 ribs seriously? I take out plate cost me $19.50!!!! NEVER AGAIN FOR REAL! NEVER GIVING THEM ANOTHER CENT!!! DIDN'T SEE THE OWNERS EITHER! read more

Went for lunch the other day. About 1hr before they close for the break between sessions. The food was hot fresh and tasty. They obviously didn't put a lot out and it was quiet there. However no tray was empty and the few items that did go empty (Fried Shrimp) they added more. Quite enjoyable. read more

I love Chinese food and China Star Super Buffet really does a wonderful job. I was impressed by all the different selections but too full to try them all in this visit. From Tsao Chicken, to Sesame chicken, Maple Bourbon chicken, Walnut Chicken and many others, all were very tasty. The servers were very polite and attentive and the place was very clean abd nice. I will Definately go there again.Best in Paris. read more

Haven't been here for several years and SORRY I tried it again!! GUY at the front door said NOTHING To me and the food was herendous!! NOT LIKE IT USED TO BE!! TORTURE!! read more

If I could give Zero stars I would! The food was so bad it went straight into the trash can! Do NOT recommend!

I'd give it 0 zero stars if I could. Ordered takeout, some was just bagged from the buffett. Asked for some sweet and sour sauce for the 6 egg rolls we ordered with everything else, they wanted to charge me for it. A large chef special fried rice, cold soggy "crab" (nothing but cream cheese, not even imitation crab) rangoon, and 6 egg rolls was almost $40. And it wasn't even made to order. Stay away. read more

They have had a B grade...but above that their food is really good. Great service. Their take out menu is reasonably priced. read more

Great experience. Great food and very friendly staff. I had the Orange Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken, and the Black Pepper Chicken(my favorite). Crab Rangoons, and Egg Rolls were awesome as well. read more

Good service and good food, but the rice is always dry..... please make fresher rice.

All but one dish on the entire hot buffet included meat and/or fish. I had to pick through the Shrimp with Broccoli to get broccoli and carrots with watercress and no shrimp. (For those with allergies, this would not be acceptable, of course.) While the restaurant caters to the small-town mindset, it's not necessary for them to eliminate veggie items from the choices. One can always mix more veggies to a meat dish, but a true vegetarian or vegan can't eliminate the meat from their meal. The food I did have (green beans, broccoli/carrots/watercress, salad, fruit) was okay. I just feel that---even in a small town---I should have had more than one choice among the hot entrees at a buffet. read more

I lived in Southeast Asia for almost 4 years. In the States, I've never found Chinese food that measures up to what they have over there. However, China Star comes the closest I've found in Texas. It has a good atmosphere, really good food and the price is very reasonable, The wait-staff don't disregard you as some do at buffet restaurants, but they don't annoy you either. As to the comment about vegetarian or vegan food - They don't do that in China, why would you expect it here? Although, I would just about bet you that if you chose to put in a special order for it rather than expect them to meet unreasonable demands on their buffet, they would be more than happy to comply. Overall, I'd say this is a great place to eat. read more

Barley any food selection, most of the food was gone or dry, I guess the owner didn't turn on the ac because it was very warm inside and the waiters were sweating. Not very impressed. read more

Yelp lead me wrong on this place... had an hour to kill for lunch and decided some soup and dumplings sounded good so I found this place on yelp... well I got a table quickly and the server was very nice but the hot and sour soup is just okay and the dumplings I order boiled came out still partially frozen. They weren't cooked all the way so when I went to bite into it a cold frozen watery juice squirted out.... not what I had in mind.... FYI boiled dumplings here are not actually boiled they come out fried... I told the waitress and they just fried them some more and they came out greasy and crispy to my table and they still didn't taste good.... went to go check out and my tab for $4.95 dumplings and $2.75 soup came out to $10.25?!?! Oh yeah they were going to charge me a $1.90 for the water I had.... I had to get him to correct it... I even told the waitress I didn't like the dumplings and she apologized and walked off.... first time coming here and it's my last.... don't waste your money go find some place better!!!! read more

China Star Restaurant - a menu for a buffet - Chinese Near Me - Paris, Texas

The best Chinese Buffet in Paris TX. Great food, large selection, and friendly staff, help make this an unbelievably great experience. Must stop and try their buffet for lunch and/or dinner! read more

I give it four stars some of the best Chinese I've ever ate! Just wish they had more choices

I give this place as many stars as possible! I love china star and have been coming here since I was young. Now that I'm in college I don't get to frequent the restaurant and I miss the food! My favorite thing is everything, they have a variety of chicken which is what I love and a few beef items which my boyfriend eats. The crab Rangoon are delicious but you can only get them on the buffet at night. Regardless this place is definitely worth trying if you haven't! read more

I've since moved away from Paris, TX, and I still haven't found a Chinese restaurant as good as this.

Wow.... Well guess what this isn't a vegan restaurant and I since I use to work here a while ago I know that they have menus for people who want to order off of them which have vegan options. Maybe you should have ASKED! ANYWAYS!!! sorry about that, I love this place and when I saw that its good name and great food was being torn down I get angry. I can promise you this is one of the best Chinese Restaurant's I've been to period. Really outstanding food and don't miss the hot and sour soup here, it's beyond words. I'm absolutely never had better in my life. I dream about this soup! I drive an hour out of the way for this soup! Really a good buffet, go here, you'll see! read more

Phoned in my order for MooGooGaiPan with WonTon Soup and Fried Dumplings. When I got home I discovered they failed to include my rice (which is included with the meal). Also the MooGooGaiPan must have been left over from the weekend (today is Wednesday). The vegetables were all soggy and over cooked like they were way over cooked. The texture of the food had an almost slimy texture to it. The soup wasn't any better. Old and soggy. The fried dumplings were good, though. I have had their food before where it was fresh and tasty but today it was too awful to eat. Trash. read more

Not bad, dumplings were dry and frankly inedible, chix was dry, but char siu and steamed rice were good. Service good.

I love Chinese food about twice a month, and for my money, this is the best ever. I've eaten all over the country, and have not found any as good as the China Star. read more

I only gave this place 3 stars because of the waiter. He is AWESOME. The food on the other hand, not so awesome. I spit the egg roll into y napkin as soon as it touched my tongue. The jalapeño chicken was the best item on the bar. The sesame chicken was so sweet that it made my teeth hurt. Thanks, but no thanks. read more

Great Jalapeño Chicken. We eat here often. They have real ice cream in their machine.

We got take out from China Star. It was delicious and came in super-sized portions. The buffet we peeked at was pretty small, but we're still excited to try it next time. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that the sauce on the sesame chicken was WAY excessive. read more

The owner and staff are great. The food is even better. Enjoy If you are from out of town please try them out. read more

Food is great, waiters are professional but not overly friendly. Its a little out of the way and prices are slightly high but seems to be the best Chinese food buffet in Paris. You'll want to check the hours as they're closed from around 2pm to 5pm I think. My wife loves the soft icecream. read more

I am currently eating here right now. I grew up eating here all of the time and am now at college in the DFW area. I have tried different Chinese buffets all over the area and NO other places compare. Every time I come home I HAVE to eat here at least once. The quality of the food is astounding. Like I said, I have tried MANY buffets and nothing ever comes close to the tastiness of China Star. The sesame chicken is to die for. All of the negative comments blow my mind because this is the best Chinese buffet ever. Quality food and quality service! read more
