Usually they are not authentic Chinese food but Americanized Chinese food, the greasy spoon type. We ordered Shrimp with Broccoli. It came with more soy sauce fried rice than broccoli and shrimp. The dish was soaked in dark brown sauce. The food was not fresh nor healthy. The portion was lunch special size, yet the owner didn't give us the soup or egg roll. I found this restaurant after some research and driving by. It's a small little spot but totally worth giving it a chance. The prices are a bit high but the service and quality make up for most of that. We got a table after we ordered and the staff were very attentive and friendly. I was with my fiancé and we ordered some eggrolls, sesame chicken, and honey chicken. The eggrolls were tasty and not greasy. The sesame and honey chicken dishes were loaded up with meat and cooked perfectly. We ended up with plenty of food for leftovers the next day and on the way out we got a thank you and smiles. I was in the mood for some Chinese food so I decided to give this place a shot. Called about 5 times, no answer. Figured they might be busy so I just drove and they had a random sign on the door saying they didn't feel like opening today. Sunday at 1pm. I understand issues pop up and maybe there are circumstances that you'd have to not open but if it's within your posted hours, you should at least have an updated voicemail saying you're closed for the day. A disappointing expereince. Went here for lunch today with four of my co-workers. We were attracted by the advertised $6.50 lunch buffett. This is a bit misleading. The food is prepared when you get there, each person gets a plate and then you decided what you want to eat. They have General Tso's chicken, fried rice, noodles, spring rolls and chicken wings. In my quest to try all the Asian restaurants in Warrenton I stopped by China Restaurant this evening for some take out. Nice friendly staff who were all in their winter coats, for it seemed there was no heat in their corner of the shopping center. Just glad I was getting take out. The place is rather small, seats at most 20 people by count of the chairs, although I'd be surprised to see that many in there at once. Much the same as some of the other smaller Chinese places in town. I was a bit disappointed in the spring rolls, rather small and not all that tasty. For my main course I had the Generals Tso Chicken which was much better than the appetizers. I also enjoyed the hot and sour soup which I did not order. Having never had this before, I can't compare it to anything for a review. I'd give it another try. Maybe on my way home from work and not feeling like making dinner or stopping at the grocery store. First time here. This is good solid choice in warrenton way better than Hunan Cafe. Wonton soup: broth taste nice, although looks like i got some wontons that weren't cooked at the same time, not sure if they keep the wontons in the soup warmer, one was definitely cooked longer it was noticeably darker than the other wontons and not as firm. Still taste good. Vietnamese spring rolls : having married into a vietnamese family i have some high standards for these. Very loosely rolled not tight the rolls seemed very rushed. It fell apart after the first bite and very hard keep it all together, has chicken, cilantro and basil and rice noodles, not exactly sure what the sauce was maybe a fish sauce blend tasted good over all tasted good. But kind of sloppy with the rolling. General Tso Chicken: very nicely done, sauce is nice and sweet, crispy, very cripsy peices of chicken, but they make so crispy the meat gets dry, the peices arent cut very big but it was nicely done i really like this dish. Plain Fried rice : nice flavor, slightly over cooked to much water in the cooking process, peices of egg, had some very nice aroma coming from the rice not sure what spice they put in. **** Small little update came back another day and only ordered plain fried rice and it wasn't as good, way over cooked rice very mushy not any firmness and the taste was bland and didn't have that nice aroma as before, a little disappointed, seems like they might be a little inconsistent. I was a LONG time customer of China Restaurant in Warrenton. However a week ago we went to their website and called in an order for delivery. Clearly states "Free Delivery" on website at the time I ordered it. We live two miles from them. When the woman at the restaurant told me my total it was literally $30 more than what I added it up to based off of their online menu. When I challenged her on the cost, she said that they had started charging a $10 delivery fee and all the prices on their menu had increased but they never updated the website since 2021. A week later and still haven't updated their website. Seriously? $10 for a delivery fee? That's more than twice the amount for any delivery fee of other Chinese restaurants in the area, and it's not my fault that you didn't update your website for past two years. Bait & switch isn't cool. while the food is decent, their prices are terrible now and that delivery fee is outrageous. Will be switching who we order from now. read more

Love love love this place!! My fiancé introduced it to me when we first started dating; he'd been eating there for at least 5 years before we met. After trying their food, I've never wanted any other Chinese food. I was first hooked by their General Tsos; it's unlike any other I've ever had, and is always crispy, hot, and flavorful. Then their dumplings...by themselves, they're delicious, but with their sauce (still don't know what makes it so magical), they're amazing. AND THEN their crab rangoon...so uniquely shaped to make the best filling to covering ratio and served with such yummy sauce. I've tried several other things, including noodle and other meat dishes, and can honestly say I've never had a bad dish. The servers there are very nice. The owner (I believe), Lily, is such a sweetheart. I highly recommend this place, and hope it stays in business for years to come! I will gladly continue to drive 35-40 minutes each way to get this food. Quick tip: eating at the restaurant gives you the best quality of food, but holds up fairly well if carried out. The cashiers are always so kind and attentive, when I asked for some hot sauce she kindly gave me some very delicious kimchi! Late yesterday afternoon we braved the raw drizzle to do our annual Xmas tree search. (As usual, ended up with a fresh 8-1/2' beauty ($65) courtesy of the Boy Scout troop lot next to Rankin's Hardware in Warrenton. Feeling adventurous, on the way home we stopped by "China Restaurant" (in the Food Lion parking lot as you turn onto Rte. 211 from town) to try their takeout, thanks to a Yelp review. Have driven by this place hundreds of times since we first moved here, but the sort of generic sign "China Restaurant" never lured us in. Place is uber-small & uber-clean (always a good sign). (You can easily see right into the kitchen, & it looked well set up, clean, & well-run.) Obviously set up for primarily takeout, as there are only 4-5 small tables inside. One couple was dining in when we arrived around 5 p.m., but we observed one delivery employee arriving back in & two delivery employees going out with orders just during the 15 minutes we were there waiting for our takeout order. In addition, there were several folks in & out picking up their previously called-in orders. I ordered the "Ma La Chicken" ($8.95) - something that I'd never seen on ANY Chinese restaurant menu before, never mind a small takeout place. Ordered it "extra spicy". Hubby ordered the "Kung Pao Chicken" ($8.95). Both came with steamed white rice. Arriving home, we discovered that we'd also been given a free pint of "Hot and Sour Soup", along with a package of somewhat translucent crispy Chinese noodles to add to it. Nice. "Hot & Sour Soup" was nicely peppery & vinegary, although oddly devoid of any meat. Just seemed to be broth with lots of beaten egg (in fact, at first we thought it was Egg Drop Soup), sliced & quartered white button mushrooms, & some julienned bamboo shoots & carrots. But tasty. And the translucent dried Chinese noodles to add to it were much nicer than the usual browner thicker type. Hubby's "Kung Pao Chicken" was just "okay". Fried chicken tidbits (some very hard in texture) tossed in a sweet & mildly spicy sauce. Not so much as ONE peanut in sight, & no vegetables. Just the somewhat overcooked chicken in the sauce. Nothing like the "Kung Pao Chicken" I've had anywhere else. I don't think these folks know what "Kung Pao Chicken" (regardless of the spelling) actually is. My "Ma La Chicken" is difficult to evaluate since I've never had it before. It was pretty much just chicken along with large squares of green bell pepper & onion. That's it. Sauce at the bottom of the container was somewhat spicy, & they included (I guess due to my asking for "extra spicy") a teensy tiny little plastic container of what appeared to be chili oil with a sediment of chilis & what "might" have been (or actually what, for a "Ma La" dish, should have been) Szechuan peppercorns. But I didn't taste any of the familiar numbness Szechuan peppercorns produce, so am EXTREMELY doubtful re: that. But it was an uber-spicy dish by Chinese takeout standards. Bottom line from a first visit: Better than neighboring "Yen Cheng" & "China Jade". Will visit again. read more

Everything is really good. The hot and sour soup could be a bit more vinegary, but that is okay. The restaurant included an "on the house" vegetable in a chili sauce. Terrible, absolutely terrible. My wife and I ordered carryout last night; egg foo yung, shrimp toast, spring rolls. The shrimp toast was burnt to a lard-like crisp. The spring roll was cold and tasteless. The egg foo yung was also cold and tasted like mushy cardboard. I was leaving the gym and it was in a convenient location and I had a cold and just wanted soup for dinner. So I ordered the Wonton soup. I left expecting it to fix my hunger but not expecting to be wowed by it. I have never been a huge fan of Wonton soup, it was always okay to me and I only got it when I wasn't feeling well. This soup is AMAZING! Best Chinese soup from anywhere I have ever had. The dumplings melt in your both and the broth is perfection! Hadn't been here in a while and stopped in for takeout. I'd forgotten how much my family liked the food. We ordered four dishes and each one was distinctive and quite tasty. My kids have already asked if we can go back for takeout next week. The service is friendly. The woman working there was very helpful. My favorite Chinese restaurant of all time. Over a decade of consistent orders and the food is always good.

I have gotten take-out from most of the Chinese restaurants in Warrenton, and China is definitely the best. The place is very small, with only a few tables. If you are looking for place for a quick lunch it's fine, but it's really not set up for large groups or a true "dinner out". If you are getting take-out though it really can't be beat. The prices are very reasonable and the portions tend to be very generous. They usually include a side order of white rice and packets of sauces with every order, you can ask for extra but I've always found they include plenty. I particularly enjoy the egg rolls and the steamed dumplings, both of which can easily be a small meal by themselves. Most recently I had the sesame chicken and it was just right -- spicy enough without going over board. A side order of pork fried rice was good as well. A nice surprise when I got home was finding they had included a complimentary container of soup & fried noodles. I did call to double check that it wasn't mistakenly added to my order and was told they simply had extra and hoped I would enjoy it. While China is not the fanciest place in town, it certainly has won my loyalty. I just wish I lived in their delivery zone. read more

The restaurant itself isn't very big and there were already a few people seated when we got there, thus we decided to carry-out instead of dine-in.
