Came for lunch with a friend. It was pretty empty, and the service was slow, but that is because the server was doting on some elderly people who were dining there and he gave them hugs as they left, so that is easily excused for making your repeat customers happy. :) I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and wanted it super spicy and my goodness, did they deliver! The food came out super fast and mine was extremely spicy, just what I wanted. My friend got shrimp with vegetables and hers was also very tasty. Walking out of the arcade and decided to stop for a bite. Glad we did. Excellent food. Best egg roll I have had in a while. Really good fried rice. Friendly service and very reasonable prices. Some issues - food took a while to come and the hot & sour soup was too thick and not to my liking, but my friend really enjoyed it, so maybe just a personal preference. Definitely not traditional hot & sour soup. The sesame chicken was advertised as spicy on the menu, but no heat at all. Gone is the buffet and middle wall. This was a great place for quality buffet food. It wasn't huge but the food was hot and tasty. The owner has remodeled and the place looks great. I think they got rid of the buffet because it wasn't very profitable. That is too bad because I liked the variety. Should have maybe thought about raising prices. The menu is the same as before which is very large and might need to be revamped in order to go with the new remodel. I had hot and spicy shrimp lunch special and it was a bit disappointing. It was heat hot and came quickly but was not very spicy. The portion was good and the iced tea was great. I was a bit put off that even though I was seated before two more customers walked in, their order was taken as a to go order before mine was. WORST restaurant in Green Bay- possibly in the entirety of Wisconsin. The Singapore noodles never specified having meat (I am vegetarian) and when I called to explain this, I was told, "Well, the menu doesn't say it doesn't have meat." To which I said, "Well it was ordered with no meat." Dead silence. Okay... I also complained that the crab ragoon had literally (I am not joking) ZERO CRAB! It was entirely cream cheese inside a fried wonton. To this, the ditzy employee said, "Well we normally don't put very much crab in the ragoon." I had to explain that "not very much" and "none at all" are mutually exclusive. I asked for a refund politely and was essentially told to go pound sand. Our family stopped in on Saturday night for dinner. There was a total of 7 of us. This is not your typical Chinese take out restaurant. You can actually sit down, order your meal and have it come fresh to your table. There was only one waitress tending to all the tables, a total of 3 including ours. This is where I docked a star, service. As I mention before, there's only one person waiting on us. The food came out at different times and the table that was seated after us, got their food first. The also don't have any plastic cups for the kids so we had to keep an eye on our 18 month old to not drop his glass cup. The food was good. A lot better than most places in Green Bay. I ordered the Salt & Pepper shrimp and really enjoyed it. My husband also enjoyed his dish, which was the beef and scallops stir fry. However, the prices of these dishes are much more expensive than the typical Chinese take out. My dish was almost $15. Overall, we enjoyed our trip. It would probably be once in awhile that we go. Gluttony. It's one of those words that sounds like the thing that it is. Gluttony. What do you call it when a word does that? I can't deny that China Palace has made me a glutton. It is the epitome of gluttony, I'm sure, when I relax in my east side apartment on a cold February night, a couple of drinks in me, and ring up the kind folks at China Palace and request they send a man out in the rain to drive some piping hot food to my house. I'm ashamed to admit how many times I've done this. In fact, as I write this, there are half-empty styrofoam containers strewn about my kitchen counter, only moments ago filled with crispy shrimp toast, delicious slippery steamed dumplings and tangy walnut shrimp. There is rice stuck to the kitchen floor (and the bottom of my black socks) which I am content to ignore for the time being while I sit here in my boxer shorts, grinning and sleepy, attempting to type. The ingredients are fresh and clean, unlike the other establishments whose dishes tend to be too oily, gloppy or syrupy. There is no "Chinese food hangover" syndrome here. They do not over-sweeten the sauces like most Americanized Chinese restaurants in the area, nor are they overly thick and tangy. I've tried a lot of their seafood dishes like The Four Seasons, Walnut Shrimp, Seafood Delight (which comes with miniature lobsters, no less), and The Happy Family (which made us very happy indeed). Unlike dumplings from lesser establishments which are too dense and doughy, these are succulent and savory. And the shrimp toast (my favorite appetizer, which everyone should try) is a unique combination of exactly that: shrimp and toast, lightly glazed with an egg mixture, fried into a triangle of crispy goodness which I've never found anywhere else. The spicy stuffed tofu (my girlfriend's favorite) comes with a tasty shrimp surprise nestled inside each generous wedge of tofu, perfectly browned on the outside. It includes sliced pepper boats, stuffed with shrimp-y, tofu-y, crisp-y, yumm-y, [insert more words ending with "-y" here, you get the idea]. The staff are always friendly and non-judgemental of me when I answer the door in my boxer shorts, or when my girlfriend answers in her flower-print muumuu. The sad part (or maybe happy part?) of tonight's gluttony is that my old lady is coming over this weekend and she'll most likely want China Palace delivered (she's addicted to shrimp toast too, can you blame her?). Of course, I'll be too embarrassed to admit that I've already ordered from them twice this week. I suppose that if "too much China Palace in one week" is the worst of my problems, then maybe life isn't so bad after all. Goodnight, America, wherever you are. read more

I had the wonton, which was tasteless. My wife had the egg drop soup which was the consistency of jello, and also tasteless. We split the beef with mushrooms. Tender, but very bland. Traveling from out of town and found this gem. Called and decided to walk the three blocks from my hotel...not realizing the wind had picked up and temperatures dropped near 20 degrees! I have never had the buffet, but we have ordered takeout from here several times. This seems to be a small family restaurant and their menu is way too extensive for their size, the amazing variety of dishes they put forth I believe really detracts from the actual quality of the food they do serve. They need to cut it down and focus on doing what they can do better. Speaking of what they can do... the fried dumplings are heaven. They just are. They are SO good. $5 for 6 large ones. The wonton soup is also pretty delicous, even if the wontons filling is simple at best. I was deeply disappointed in the chow fun and cream cheese wontons, they were not good at all. So okay, food is average ~3/3.5 out of 5. Why the 2? Because of the service. I recently called to order takeout, and the employee who took my order put me on hold to calculate the total. She left me on hold easily for five minutes, and get this: she didn't even cover the receiver... she was having a conversation with what seemed like a friend...and saying racist things about previous customers. There is a minimum delivery order and a delivery charge that varies depending your distance from the restaurant. The food arrived fast though, earlier than expected and driver was nice and courteous. The food is uber bland and is the greasiest Chinese food I've ever had. There were pools of grease in the bottom of the containers of fried rice and lo mein, and the food was thickly coated with grease. The lemon chicken was dripping with grease, and grease squirted off when I broke into the slices with my fork. ICKK! The food is pricier than I expected, especially for the quality and quantity. It did take a while to get the order placed, got put on hold for the total, and it sounded like the lady was ringing someone else up or taking another order. By the way, I've since found another Chinese place nearby on Military Avenue (Lin's Garden) that also delivers to my house, and their food is MUCH, much tastier, a little less expensive, and delivers FREE to my house. I've been away from home for 20 years and Lin's has the best Chinese take out/delivery I've had since I left Hawai'i. The food here is pricey and not that good. No where near close to Mayflower quality. I was ignored from the moment I walked in, first by a middle aged woman then by a 20ish looking male. After standing at the counter for near 5 minutes he finally asked me if I was dining in or ordering to go. At first I assumed he didn't know how to speak English but after hearing him ask me if I was eating here or ordering take out, I was irritated that he didn't acknowledge me sooner. The server was very kind and polite and made me feel welcome. She couldn't have been more than 16 or 18 but she clearly has a better understanding of how to treat customers than the lady and the young man I first encountered, who I am assuming are her mother and brother. If you work or live near downtown Green Bay this isn't a bad spot to grab some Chinese food, but it would not be my first choice as there are better Chinese food restaurants (Mayflower being one of them) where you can get better tasting food for the same price. read more

Order at 8:05 was told by staff 45 minute delivery time. Well so not the case! Called at 9:10 to see where my food was and was told the driver was a few minutes away. Ok no problem....9:30 (closing time) still no food so decided I better call to see were food :/ she apologized attempted to call the driver who she stated did not answer but that she would attempt to reach him and would update me. About 5 minutes later she called to tell me that he was a few blocks from my home. I told her that this delivery was unacceptable and that I was told 45 minutes yet still no sign of delivery person. I asked if I could cancel my order and just credit my card she said per their policy the ONLY way to receive a refund is if he fails to deliver my food at all! WHATTTTTTTTT!!!!??? I then asked well some discount on future orders could be applied as I'm sure the freshness of my order couldn't be due to waiting 2 hours!! she stated that I would have to discuss a possible discount with the driver. About 5 minutes after her and I conversation the driver arrives. Yelling at me!!!! Stating that the food wouldn't be cold after 2hrs, and that he's delivering all over Greenbay and ohhhh no he couldn't offer a discount! Well just as I expected the Crab Rangoons was soggy where the filling is and the shell was HARD! The pork egg rolls shell was hard as well and center COLD! And the general tso although still hot was TERRIBLY sweet! My craving for Chinese ruin :( and no tip!!! Just Google search chicken chow mien. You will see hundreds of pictures of delicious fat noodles and slices of chicken and vegetables coated, but not drowned in a brown sauce. What you get when you order chow mien from here is a weird grey water soup with a few equally weird clear noodles. It looks like they just throw some vegetables into bathwater. It looks like something Lindsey from Arrested Development would wake. It is legit on par with Hot Ham Water (except its vegetables instead of ham). I really don't understand this dish. **UPDATE** I was wrong... Those weird clear noodles were not noodles, they were sprouts. Which means my Chicken Chow Mien had no noodles in it at all. Fun fact, Chow Mien mean Fried Noodles. Oh, and the fried rice was really burnt. Which leaves a very unpleasant after-taste much like burnt popcorn. read more

I had the general tso chicken and a small order of vegetable lo mein. IT WAS GROSS. For $19 bucks I wish I went to taco Bell and got more and better tasting food. I've traveled the world and eaten American Chinese food all over. I LOVE Asian food... Thai, Vietnamese, etc. Well, after living in Green Bay for over 10 years, and working near bye the store, my family and I finally went in and tried it out. FIRST: It wasn't fancy... but who cares. I'm a "take-out" kind of guy. SECOND: The food was fantastic ... Well prepared and with great flavor. And NO MSG! The beef in the Beef & Broccoli was tender and delicious (that's rare) and the snow peas were plentiful and tasty. Everything else (especially the Crab Rangoons) was delightful. THIRDLY: The portions were nice and large (my girls really love leftovers the next day) FOURTH: The prices were really GREAT! About $6.50 - $7.50 for large main dishes. FIFTHLY: The family who owns and runs the place are from China and are good people. If you're used to the same old thing with MSG and bland flavor ... go somewhere else. Of the Chinese restaurants in Green Bay, China Palace is very good. The vegetables are freshly prepared (neither factory canned or frozen bag). Each dish is carefully prepared by Chinese cooks with attention to its unique tastes, quality ingredients, and presentation. Serving sizes are proportioned well, neither too small or too much. China Kitchen staff are polite, attentive, and knowledgeable. Reasonable accommodations were made to satisfy the palate of my friend who had not eaten many Chinese dishes. A friend of mine told me about this place located downtown Green Bay. I went in on a Thursday about 4 p.m. I was the only one in there. Place was clean the guy that took my order was nice enough and the lady who brought my food I was very polite. I ordered beef lo mein because that always seems like to be the one dish that I can order to tell me the style of food they serve. The portion size was very good the amount of beef kind of surprised me and it was what seemed to be a quality beef the only thing I was not thrilled with was it was almost as if the oil that they used to cook the lo mein in was burnt. I had something similar in Colorado Springs the oil on the bottom of the plate was almost black which is not very appetizing I did add some hot sauce and some sweet and sour sauce which gave it more flavor. The other thing I did not care for was the amount of flies buzzing around me while I was trying to eat. Based on everything I would not give it a bad review I just don't think it's for me.
