There was also I police presence in the parking lot which made me feel a little more secure due to the time of night it was. The food was great. It's either hit or miss when it comes to Chinese food. I've ordered from here numerous times since COVID-19 took hold of this country - this is my parents' go-to Chinese takeout spot. They are fast and their food is good, which all you need when it comes to takeout places. Because of the pandemic, China 1 was closed for a few weeks but they reopened with some changes. Their front counter, once an open area, is encased with plexiglass - their credit card machine is set up where it sticks out of a slot. All you need to do, if you're paying by card, is slide it in the card reader. You don't have to touch it at all. If paying by cash there is a shared box which opens on two ends - one end for you to place your money and the opposite end is for the China 1 staff to grab your payment and then provide change and/or a receipt. There is second box for the food, which employs the same concept as the money box. Simple and easy. I've found calling ahead is the best option - over the phone they'll quote you, at most 15 minutes, for your order to be ready. JV read more

This place used to be my go-to since it was so close to our home. Before I discovered Golden Wok, we'd always go here. Yesterday, I had to pick up some Chinese for a get-together I was headed to, and I wanted the convenience of picking it up nearby since I was running late. I thought - "hmm, shouldn't hurt to not get Golden Wok for once.." I ordered what I usually order for takeout - chicken wings, fried rice, and lo mein. They said my order would be ready in 10 min. I waited about 10 min before leaving my house after ordering, got there, and it wasn't ready yet. I waited for about 7 more min. No big deal. When my friends and I started eating, I noticed that the chicken wings were much smaller than usual. But that wasn't the issue. The problem was discovered when I started chewing my chicken. I bit on something hard and thought it was a piece of bone or something but turns it to be A STAPLE... like.. what ?! And to make matters even worse, a little after my discovery, my friend starts spitting something out while eating her fried rice - LITTLE PIECES OF WOOD (maybe chopsticks?) idk, just something that isn't edible!!! This place is located right by the airport. One night after a rough day of traveling, I ordered from here because my friend told me it was one of her favorite spots. I ordered around 8:30. My luggage ended up taking about 1.5 hours. The restaurant called me and stated my food was ready. I called back panicked as I knew they'd close before I would make it. The gentleman told me not to worry, he was cleaning, and he'd give me my food when I got there. Sure enough, I arrived and he let me in and gave me my food. The food was excellent, the portions were huge and tasty, but most of all, the patience and customer service was amazing. With an over abundance of hole in the wall, take out Chinese restaurants that totally suck, its a miracle to find one that actually has yummy food. I love their crab Rangoon, it is better than any place I have yet to find. Their general tao's shrimp is delicious and the shrimp are HUGE!! My daughter loves their Vegetable Lo Mein and their Egg Drop Soup. Whenever I have called for a take out order its always done quickly and they have never screwed up my order at all. We found this place while waiting for someone to arrive at the airport. My spouse gets beef&broccoli sand I get sesame chicken. Spouse gets 3 little pieces of beef, and my chicken tastes so old that I couldn't even chew it. We just ate the rice and there everything in the trash and left. Wanted to get some good Korean food before my flight but all the Korean restaurants are closed from 3-5, so in a pinch I checked Yelp for restaurants this ranked pretty highly. Unfortunately I didn't experience what everyone else may have. For one, they have very limited seating so this is definitely more of a take out kind of place. The food was pretty bland, but the egg rolls were pretty good. They forgot my order of dumplings/pot stickers and in their rush to get it out burned over half of them.... and served them to me that way. This restaurant has been one of my family's go to chinese places since I was young. We are super close with the owners and they're nice and friendly. Their food is hands down one of the best Chinese food in Norfolk or in the 757 for that matter. The food is fairly priced like any Chinese take out place. Their General Tso's chicken is the bomb; it has the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The chicken is always perfect and crispy on the outside. The broccoli is always fresh. They have pretty good lunch specials for $4-5. The inside is about the same size as any Chinese take out place. There are a few tables for dining in. Quite clean inside as well. My favorite dine in lunch special is the chicken with hot garlic sauce and fried rice. Excellent quality and quantity at a reasonable price. While not fancy, the place is always clean and fresh. Come here more than a couple of times, and the staff will very likely remember your order. They are friendly and helpful, especially to those not overly familiar with the many items on their menu. Although the egg roll was soft and fresh it lacked in taste the orange chicken was over powering with citrus and overwhelming with sweetness and the rice was bland. VERY VERY VERY disappointed!!! I went there because of the reviews and boy was it a mistake. I know everyone taste buds are different but if they had what they served me tonight they would 1000 percent agree with me. The food was so bad my dog backed away from it and he drinks out the toilet and eats out of the trash can. WARNING: don't get the Chicken Chow Mein. The gravy supposed to be "white" but mine looked grayish. The gravy liquefied once I poured it out of the container. Once I poured it out it turned into pure "water". I still tried it and it tasted just like water too. This is the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten and I have had my fair share of not so good ones. I have never written about bad food before only on the services but I had to let people know.
