Been going there for years, prices have gone up, no problem. However fried rice had none or MINIMAL peas, carrots, onions, plum sauce tasted watered down and tea was not Chinese tea. Very good restaurant with very nice size portions. I am normally a huge Lo Mein fan but not of this one unfortunately. Please understand this is only my personal take on the dish. I like bigger noodles than the style they serve. Food was decent. I had lunch, which included won ton soup, fried rice, egg roll and almond chicken. The egg roll was good. The rice tasted burnt and there was only one chicken breast, which seemed skimpy. The sauce for it was somewhat odd looking, like a yellowish, thick sauce with no flavor. I had to wait an extra 40 minutes for my food, and they didn't offer a discount for the inaccurate time frame. I couldn't believe I made orders and the Chinese lady over the phone was trying to add more money 7 dollars more to be exact. When I got there I asked for the menu with prices. On top of that my Sweet & Sour Chicken combination was disgusting worse than dog food the rice was so dry and a lot of burned pieces the sauce for the chicken was so old you can taste it. It taste like refrigerator and metal with only 2 pineapple pieces wtf I didn't even eat the egg roll either and my son's meal all went to the garbage too it was Sesame Chicken and I was vomiting. Also this is the only place that doesn't give 1 fortune cookie for each meal. The Chef should be fired or retire. The lady should get a charge for trying to charge more money than what the meal is. Look at your receipts just saying. I will never eat at this garbage restaurant again. The food was basically dog food for humans. New to the area. In driving around, we happened upon this nice little establishment. We took out: 1 Hot & Sour Soup - good soup - certainly got the sour down - nice to have meat in the soup. 2) Combo plate Beef Noodle Stir Fry - tasty and a lot of food (if you like mushrooms you will love this dish). 3) Combo plate General Tso - Big pieces of crispy fried chicken in a nice sauce The portions were excellent. If you are from MI, you know that there are two types of eggrolls - cabbage-based and bean sprout-based (CL serves the latter). The fried rice was also aplenty and good. Sandusky has a nice gem of a Chinese restaurant in their small town. It can certainly compete with (and beat) the Chinese restaurants in the Metro-Detroit area. Glad we found it and we will certainly return to sample more from China Lee's menu. read more

First time Chinese takeout...loved sweet and sour chicken as well as orange chicken. We had other dishes but these were best.

Terrible customer service. We frequently place large carry out orders but this time it was a bust. They forgot our 6 egg rolls and put onions in our fried rice when we requested no onion. Normally this would not be a huge deal but it's the way they handled the situation. We called to let them know that they put onions in the rice and forgot our egg rolls and they proceeded to say that they couldn't find our order and then they finally found it and said that we never ordered egg rolls and didn't ask for no onion. However we definitely did as they repeated both things back to me. They would not allow us to come back to pick up the replacements but said we could place another order for those items. I think for all of the $100+ orders we've placed with them they would be a little more understanding and nice. Very disappointed. Won't be back for a long time. read more

I have a cottage in Port Sanilac, and ventured into Sandusky to go to the movies, my Dad said this place has the best Chinese food...I was a bit skeptical. Smal small place, with a buffet in the middle of the country? I had my doubts, but I should know that Father knows best! Great great food! Any type of chicken in this place is nothing short of amazing!! HUGE HUGE pieces of chicken! We got the buffet, and the sweet and sour chicken was one of the best I have ever had! Batter on the chicken was light and crunchy, on HUGE piceces of all white chicken. (The chicken HAS to be local because everything seemed super fresh) The sweet and sour sauce IS NOT ketchup based!!! It was slightly sweet, more like honey sweet. It was very good! Wanton soup is also very good, you get 3 or 4 wantons per bowl! It may not look like much from the outside...but do not pass this place up! read more

Wow! A really good Chinese buffet in the middle of nowhere. Seriously. When I think middle-Thumb region, I think corn, beets and pick-up trucks. Heck, I even passed an Amish horse and buggy driving here! Decent Chinese food was the last thing I expected out here in the boonies. China Lee has a full menu but the real deal is the lunch buffett. It's a smaller steam cart loaded with the usual Americo-Cantonese dishes, however, the taste was a step-up. I thought the chicken dishes, sauces, egg rolls and won-ton soup were exceptional. Come hungry and fill-up. You'll be shoulder to shoulder with the locals in the buffet line. The corner building appeared non-descript and farm ugly. The decor was dated. The dining area kinda cramped, lopsided and fairly clean. Think Grandma's kitchen table mixed with dangling Cantonese baubles. The chunky Anglo waitresses were generally euthymic though a bit gruff in a no-nonsense farm-community manner. Overall, it was tolerable. Not a first date place, more like a third. I'd eat here more often if it were closer. The other reviewers were spot on. I love finding little places like this. Terrible. The egg drop soup tasted like nothing but chicken broth with some egg thrown in. I ordered a vegetable dish that consisted of nothing but broccoli, mushrooms, and about three pea pods. This just happened - I called to order 2 sweet and sour chicken and when I got home I noticed it was pork. I called to let them know my order was wrong. The lady who answered the phone said that the order says pork. She apologize but said the order was done based on what the ticket said...I get that and I was ok with it but I did say it was wrote wrong because I never get the pork - they over cook it. Again she apologized and I hung up. Not 5 minutes later I get a phone call from the owner who told me I was wrong because she clearly heard pork and that is what we got. She said I want to make sure you knew this because I won't give you 2 orders free of the chicken when you come back. I never wanted a free meal - I as a customer have the right to point out that my order was wrong. But she insisted that she heard pork. What happened to the customer is always right? I got upset and told her - all she has to do is apologize like her good employee did and be done with it - but calling me to tell me basically that I am wrong cuz she clearly heard pork - WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT!!! My 2 stars are only because she has a good employee who did the right thing and apologized...the owner needs to learn from her employee. read more

This is THE Chinese restaurants you must dine if you live or plan to visit Sanilac County. One problem is that the buffet is a bit small, all because of the size of the dining area being small. Try the beef lo mien...it is the best. It would also be better if they were not closed on Mondays. I still don't know why they are closed on that day. The food here is authentic, with the original owners being from China and the restaurant being owned by the later generations. The waiters are courteous with a little humor mixed in. I ordered the Sweet and Sour Shrimp with the Hot and Sour Soup, and I would personally recommend it to anyone with a diverse palate. Not too pricey either. Definitely deserves the 5 stars. read more
