I'm a little disappointed I suppose…read more After reading all the glowing reviews and looking over the menu I was sure I was going to have a delightful meal this evening. This restaurant is attached to what is clearly a dying mall, and that may be part of the issue they're having in terms of retaining staff and maintaining foot traffic. It is desperately hard to maintain a high quality standard in food when you simply don't have that many people coming in to eat. The staff I interacted with were generally friendly, but also quite busy and trying to keep up with the various tables. The seating options were a little uncomfortable, but serviceable overall. Everything appeared to be clean, although I noticed a bucket of dishes sitting out in the main dining room That was not being attended to. Given the volume of business they were having at the time this wasn't a huge deal. The food was a mixed bag. The chips were decent but a little greasy. My chicken was well prepared and had a delicious cheese sauce on it. The rice and beans were quite regrettable unfortunately. The beans were overcooked and too pasty, the rice had no real flavor to it. It really is a shame, I was looking forward to trying this place.

I was angry, I was like "no I'm not going in there, it's an abandoned restaurant in an abandoned…read moremall" I shouted in the midst of an argument with my wife who "wanted to try something new" Fortunately for me we had my mother in law with us who brought sense to the situation by just walking inside the Cazadores restaurant. This was some of the best Mexican food I've had, period.

After a quick Yelp search, we found Gilly's and are glad we did! The restaurant is tucked away in an old business district...many of the neighboring businesses are closed. It has a parking area in the back but we just parked on the street out front. The staff was very friendly when we ordered at the counter. I ordered a wet burrito. (For those not from around here-it's basically a burrito with some sauce on top). It was very good and I couldn't finish it all. My husband and son both ordered quesadillas, which they liked. My husband said his steak quesadilla was a bit greasy but that was the only negative of our whole meal. We also shared some street corn fries, which we loved. It was street corn on top of fries. I loved the corn so much that I will just get a side of that on my next visit-but the fries were great too. The menu doesn't say it but they told me they would also make items with corn tortillas if a gluten free dish is needed. This may be a new favorite in Bay City! The location is a little out of the way but definitely worth finding!

Service was very friendly and prompt and food arrived at our table in very short order. Relative to the restaurant, it has a very colorful and bright Mexican decor that definately adds to the overall dining experience with quite a few TVs located strategically throughout the restaurant making this a nice game day venue which we definately enjoyed as we were able to watch March Madness games during our meal. Very enjoyable! My only gripe about this business was that their Margarita's on the rocks were not to my liking or standards. They had a green tint to them (not typical for traditional lime margarita) and tasted like they had a pre mix where they added Tequila to it, where they could have added a tad more Blanco tequila as well. This is a small gripe and not reflective of my rating as unfortunately most Margarita's you get in the US are of a watered down version where I always appreciate a good Margarita when I occasionally stumble across one. Overall we were quite pleased with our initial dining experience here. If you are in the greater Tawas area and looking for a good Mexican restaurant than this place should definately fit the bill.
