The restaurant itself was nice and clean, there was plenty of comfortable seating, a great selection of flavored sodas, the ingredients all tasted fresh, a nice sized parking lot, and even a drive-thru, if you'd prefer to take your food elsewhere. I've jokingly started calling it the "El San Diego" breakfast plate. The pork was flavorful, the food was fresh, and everything was cooked perfectly. What really stood out was the service. On my return visit, the owner remembered my order and personally whipped up the same El San Diego breakfast plate for me again. It was just as incredible the second time. Friendly staff, great food, great ambiance, and genuine 5 star hospitality. As a Southern California Mexican food snob, I can honestly say Gilley's exceeded my expectations. It's a very clean restaurant with friendly wait staff and located near Walsh's meat market and they sell excellent meats. I ordered the big burrito, taco, rica and beans. The portion size is enough for two people to split. The nice thing about this area of Michigan is it's always about ten degrees lower in temperatures so on hot summer days it's a much cooler get away. We definitely will be back and try more of the menu and the small towns population is so much more laid back and polite than big cities.
