My coworker kept saying he always hears good things about this place so we finally tried them for lunch today. Nothing fancy upon entering, little Chinese food spot, I'm not sure why but it was freezing inside on a chilly fall/winter day. I ordered the chicken and broccoli lunch special, at first look I thought maybe this is going to suck because the sauce look reddish and I've never seen that on chicken and broccoli but it was pretty good and tasted normal/fine. The combo also comes with an egg roll or soda..that's old school Chinese spot stuff, I like that because a lot will give you a soup nowadays regardless egg roll was ok too. At the end of the day it's probably the best, new Chinese food spot I've had in years and would give it 3.5, would eat again and will be back eventually!

This place is awesome. Know why? It doesn't have those weird crunchy Lo Mein impostors! Seriously. It's hard to find a place that doesn't have them. I can't stand them. You know what I'm talking about? You bite into soft noodles and then there's some..thing... I don't even know what it's called. Gross in my opinion. Sooo... I got a Shrimp Lo Mein combo (pork fried rice & vegetable roll). The roll was bigger/longer than most places. There was a lot of shrimp in my lo mein (with no imposters) and they gave us 4 fortune cookies. My fortune was: "Could I get some directions? ("To where?") To your heart." For this reason alone China Kitchen will be my go to spot for Chinese takeout in the Wayne area. China Kitchen is the best Chinese I've had in a while, and there was so much food in the combo it took me 3 days to eat. I also learned I am a lucky Rabbit, my opposite is the Cock......, and I should marry a Boar (doesn't sound right)... haha yeaahhh

    The chicken mentioned before

I was very unsatisfied with my food. We were disappointed with 2 of our chicken entrees ordered. The chicken was poor quality, a little fishy, and almost translucent, and gelatinous

Even with a 20 min delivery trip the food was so good. I highly recommend going for the house special menu. We got the Tea Smoked Duck, Spicy Crispy Fish, Ma Po Tofu and Tasty Flounder Fillet - the spice was strong but so flavorful and not overpowering. The cold lightly pickled cucumbers are a great fresh counterbalance to the warming spice. Highly recommend - oh and the kids ordered regular standard Chinese dishes like General Tso and chicken and broccoli and loved them as well.

Before going to the restaurant, I've been craving a nice Braised Beef noodle soup and they didn't disappoint! Such great flavors and great portion for the price ($13/bowl). The beef was perfectly braised and ripped apart tenderly . The broth was delicious and on point . Definitely satisfied my craving and exceeded my expectations! Waitstaff was great and attentive, filling up our tea without even asking. Service was quick and efficient. Highly recommend this authentic restaurant! They charge a 3% surcharge for credit cards to be sure to bring cash if you want to avoid the fee. Plenty of parking in the Plaza.

They had lunch specials which we ordered from. I got the chicken low mein and added jumbo shrimp. She got the chicken and broccoli and added jumbo shrimp. We also ordered 2 shrimp tempura rolls. The meals came with an egg roll, salad, or soup. We got all three since we ordered three different lunch specials. We both got cocktails. The cocktails were good. The food was tasty. The service was great too minus the server taking our sushi before we were done. They have parking and they also have indoor seating.

The outdoor seating overlooking the lake is absolutely beautiful and easily the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, the scenery ended up being our entertainment because the service certainly wasn't. From the moment we sat down, everything moved at a glacial pace. It took forever to order drinks, food, and dessert. Somewhere along the way, our server managed to bring the wrong meals, completely forget one person's meal, and then act annoyed when we politely asked where it was. Impressive...just not in the way you want. By the time we finished eating, we waited another 30 minutes just to pay the bill. Ironically, before anyone could process our payment, a staff member came over and rather obnoxiously told us we needed to vacate the table because we were done. We explained that we'd love to leave...just as soon as someone actually took our credit card. That's when the owner arrived--with attitude instead of an apology. As for the food, six people ordered six different meals, and only one person thought theirs was okay. Those aren't great odds. Dessert didn't improve things. The lava cakes arrived cold (apparently the lava was on vacation), the presentation looked like an afterthought, and we were told there was no coffee available--even though we could literally see other tables enjoying coffee. Maybe it's a secret menu item? It's a shame because the location is stunning. With better service and better food, this place could be amazing. Until then, I'd recommend grabbing a seat outside, enjoying the lake...and lowering your expectations. My ratings: * Location & View: * Service & Professionalism: If negative stars existed, they'd have earned them. * Food: * Patience Required: One final disappointment--there were no fortune cookies. So, allow me to provide the fortune you never received: "Fortune says: Go somewhere else to eat." That's one fortune I feel pretty confident will come true.
