This was like something out of a movie we cannot believe it. It was Christmas and things have been very hectic due to my mom being in a rehab fighting cancer. so my boyfriend didn't want me to have to cook and clean and all that since we had gone out to a fancy dinner the night before he said why don't we just get Chinese food? I basically never say no to Chinese food so we knew that we had to pass this one on the way back to our house. OK, so let's start with the fact that there was numerous people in there who apparently got all the wrong orders or orders weren't ready. My boyfriend waited patiently for our food, and I don't know what was going on in there, but apparently the older woman that works there was screaming at one of the employees while holding a knife in her hands. Just very strange we got the food home after waiting probably about 20 minutes and we had to throw the shrimp right in the garbage. It was disgusting. It was not cooked, but not raw and it smells rotten. The veggie fried rice was a huge letdown. It was just all grease. It had no flavor other than salt Don't waste your time or energy here. My coworker kept saying he always hears good things about this place so we finally tried them for lunch today. Nothing fancy upon entering, little Chinese food spot, I'm not sure why but it was freezing inside on a chilly fall/winter day. I ordered the chicken and broccoli lunch special, at first look I thought maybe this is going to suck because the sauce look reddish and I've never seen that on chicken and broccoli but it was pretty good and tasted normal/fine. The combo also comes with an egg roll or soda..that's old school Chinese spot stuff, I like that because a lot will give you a soup nowadays regardless egg roll was ok too. At the end of the day it's probably the best, new Chinese food spot I've had in years and would give it 3.5, would eat again and will be back eventually! read more

Has the misfortune of being stuck in Wayne during a terrible snowy noreaster and the roads were impassible. Thankfully, I was allowed to hang out in the restaurant for a few hours. Sadly, Noisy kids, blaring TV, dirty bathroom with barely enough soap made the experience worse . Hospitality needs to be worked on. Wish I could have had a chance to taste the food, but they wouldn't take my credit card for anything less than 7 bucks and sadly, I only had $5 on my debit card the day before payday. Then they fed there kids right in front of me. On the plus side, they let me use a phone charger. Best part was when some douche came in and started to talk about how only money talks and that you have to earn what you get, which was heartily agreed to by the cashier. I'm thinking, I've been here for 3 hours and I'm starving...guess a stranger doesn't deserve a bowl of hot soup during a snow storm. read more

Best Chinese food in Wayne. Family owned, always extremely clean. Great service, we always take out. All the classics and always fresh and delicious. I have lived in Wayne for 25 years, and the go to Chinese has always been China Paradise (now closed) and China Kitchen. They have all the classics: chicken and rice, sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, chicken lo mein, etc. it's really not bad, but not super excellent either. We come here pretty often. Wonton soup was the typical soup you get at most take-out spots. The wontons themselves had a solid wrapper and didn't fall apart. I don't believe they add any greens to the soup, just some shreds of pork and a few scallions. Pork fried rice was tasty, if a bit dry. There was a good amount of roast pork mixed in. I have to knock a star for the General Tso's chicken. The sauce was just a syrupy gloppy mess. Overly sweet and not spicy at all. And worst of all, the chicken was overly battered and doughy. Masters of deception ! At first glance, our Moo Goo Gai Pan combination take-out tray looked like it was a little less than 50% Moo Goo Gai Pan, and the rest was fried rice. Probably about average for most Chinese take-out combination dishes. But things are usually not as they appear, especially at China Kitchen in Wayne. The vegetables and chicken portion of the combo turned out to be only a thin veneer that was hiding a layer of rice. So, around 75% of the combo was actually rice. Sneaky, sneaky. And, at a bit more than nine bucks for the combo, you'd think they wouldn't have to add the big chunks of carrots to further cheapen the dish. We don't even think Moo Goo Gai Pan is normally made with carrots. This is obsessive and self-defeating frugality on their part. To complete the value proposition, the egg roll was closer to the size of a spring roll than a normal egg roll. So, we fully expect to see yet another vacant storefront in this former A&P shopping center, where the A&P has been closed for the past few years, only to be joined by several other failed businesses. Urine left on seat, toilet looks as if it has never been cleaned once. FINALLY get food, opened container in parking lot to eat a few bites before traveling and it felt as if it was ice cold. Sauce was all over the underside of the container and zero napkins were provided. Food ended up being icecold, flavorless and mess. I was looking for a new place in my area with good food! I found it. Was tired of the same old places. Finally I remembered this place which for years I had overlooked. Glad I ordered tonight. Ordered crab ragoon. Most of time is very oily and greasy. To our surprise they were not at all. Very tasteful. Fried dumplings were some of the best I have ever had. Meat was delish inside and had a very large quantity. Wonton soup was a hit. We both orders the sesame chicken with chicken fried rice. Best we have ever had. Very healthy tasting, non oily or greasy. Chicken was very good , not chewy. Almost like chicken breast. No fat. Rice was great and they have many types of rice they will prepare for you. Very poor service, over charge. I ordered by to pick up on my way home. They did not give me the complete order. I find out when I got home. I called them that I was missing a large Wanton Soup the guy was arguing with me until I said that I was going to report it then he changed the tone of his voice and said that we did not charge for the wanton soup. He charged $ 29.55 for 1 hot and sour soup large, 1 noodle soup with very few vegetables, 1 small broccoli with chicken and 1 large broccoli with chicken. The soup was not that good. I've been going here for as long as I can remember (15 years+). It was always the best Chinese food and no other place could compare. They knew us immediately when we'd call in an order and we were on a first name basis with the owner. They recently changed owners and the food went WAY downhill. Their General Tzo's Chicken is now clearly made from frozen breaded chicken tenders topped with a mediocre sauce. In speaking with the previous owner, he advised the new owner not to change anything or he would lose business (because of how picky the Wayne crowd is). He should have listened! Come back Tony! Update 5/18/13: ordered from here tonight because it's so close to me. They wayyy over charged me for my food and were rude when I questioned it. The General Tso had undercooked chicken, did not even taste like General Tso, was not spicy and the fried rice was very greasy. I think this place got taken over by new owners within the last 6 months. I used to really love the food here, and would drive out of my way, but no more. This is mainly a takeout restaurant. I'd been going here for over 10 years and it completely went downhill. The wonton soup was horrible, I had to throw it out.
