I love China King. We always get the same thing - General Tso's, sweet/sour chicken, pad thai, and pork fried rice. Everything is always awesome, especially the pad thai. Its not too spicy at all (maybe could be a little more spicy, but why tempt fate on something already so good?) Have also had their crab rangoons which were awesome. it is exactly what you want from a suburb Chinese place. I will say i am not the biggest fan of the egg rolls, but its been a really long time since ive had one that i liked that maybe i just dont like egg rolls anymore. Anyway - the interior isnt exactly inviting for a sit down, but for carryout its just fine. Large portions leave enough for lunch the next day...which i am actually enjoying right now! read more

If you like to eat this is not your best choice always forgetting food or giving you the wrong thing.. They do delivery but won't bring you your correct order you have to go back to pick it up. And you get nothing in exchange for their mess ups. read more

China King is a decent restaurant in the middle of Independence. it is not fancy and won't win any major food awards but they are fast, the food is not greasy and I will go back again. if you are in the area and like Chinese food, give them a shot. read more

So I've been here multiple times since I moved to the area a year ago. Not once have I had a bad experience till tonight. I have a gluten allergy and usually stick to stuff I know I can eat. Today I wanted sweet and sour chicken, though (which is breaded) so I asked if I could get it with steamed chicken instead. The lady seemed appalled and said that they couldn't do that. It's literally a matter of putting a scoop of steamed chicken and not breaded on the rice. What's the big deal. So after some arguing on the phone I gave up and changed my order. When we went to pick it up my mom decided to bring it up again because she didn't understand why they were being this way. So they argued and argued about it and finally the lady said she could let us get : chicken and broccoli, minus the vegetables with sweet and sour sauce on the side. Wut. And then she proceeded to charge us the more expensive price for the chicken and broccoli. Well we put it behind us and I ate my food. Then in the middle of our Christmas Eve service AT church the food poisoning kicked it. I have been laying here feeling like I'm going to die for four hours now. Merry Christmas to me. Needless to say I will never eat here again. I would give this place zero stars if it allowed me to. read more

Horrible Customer Service. I ordered online since they always get the order wrong over the phone. I asked for white rice versus fried rice and noted it. They did not even acknowledge it. I then called once food came with wrong item and asked them to return with the white rice. I waited over an hour. Called again and they were making excuses for the driver but not once even offered an apology or even anything off of the bill. She then tells me to eat it. I advised I wont since it is nasty to me and not my preference and then she proceeds to ask what she can do about it. I asked her to bring me the white rice I asked for so I could eventually eat my cold food with it. Not once even offered to redo my meal since it was messed up.....smh......AND FOR SOME REASON IF YOU PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD. THEY KEEP IT ON FILE. EVEN IF YOU ASK THEM TO REMOVE IT FROM THEIR SYSTEM. This place could be greatly improved with a little effort. We recently moved into the area and although there were very mixed reviews we decided to check and see for ourselves. I got the Kung Pao Chicken. The chicken was good quality and although there was a lot of celery used as filled it still would have been acceptable except for one thing: no flavor. I asked for "extra spicy" when placing the order but it fell upon deaf ears. But basic Kung Pao sauce should be spicy and flavorful. This sauce was more like brown gravy. My wife ordered GarlicChicken . Same outcome. No flavor. Slightly garlic and sweet but zero intensity. The folks were nice, the food was quickly prepared and reasonably priced but with no flavor there is no reason to eat here. I cannot explain the positive reviews except maybe some folks don't know what good Chinese food is supposed to taste like. A few spices would turn this place around, but I don't see that happening as long as people eat what they are served. We will keep looking for a better place. read more

Very arrogant and unconcerned after they put shrimp in an order that the recipient was deathly allergic to shrimp . When trying to explain their errors in the orders and lack of delivering what was ordered they were load and totally unreceptive to our complaints our company will never use this place again because of their rude and discourteous and uncaring service read more

We order food frequently and are never disappointed. From sweet and sour chicken to chicken and vegetables and everything in between! Great place when having visitors from out of town. Portions are large, guests are happy....and stuffed! read more

I used to love the food here, back when I worked in the area 4 yrs ago. We placed huge orders about once a week for about 8 people where I worked. I was in Independence 2 weeks ago so stopped and bought 3 lunches to take home - one for that day and 2 for the next few days. So sorry I wasted the money. I bought 1 chicken lo mien - 99% salt. I bought 2 chicken chow mien's - for all three items, 2/3 of the containers were fried rice, and it seemed old and hard. I threw out all the rice from all 3. The remainder of the meals were eh, so-so. Also, a can of soda comes with each lunch - the only sugar free was diet coke that I cannot drink so instead of going home with 3 cans of soda that I'd like OR THE CASH EQUIVALENT WHICH WAS NOT OFFERED, I spent part of that money for pop that I did not get. Our company orders from China King for our manager meetings and we are always receiving compliments on the food. The Teriyaki chicken is very good and we keep ordering more each time because we run out. The Beef Broccoli is a favorite as well as the ribs and pork fried rice. The portions are generous and I would highly recommend this for feeding a group! read more

Surprisingly good Chinese food here. I have been here several times since my co-worker recommmeded this place to me. I have tried the sesame chicken, egg rolls, Teriyaki chicken, B.B.Q. ribs, pork fried rice, wonton soup, and Szechuan chicken. one of the worse chinese places to eat unless you like onions. i have tried and tried to get egg fo young from here. i actually asked for little or no onion and it was doubled. when i called the phone person laughed at me and the chef told him it was bachchoy. i think i know when i bite into a piece of onion. the friend rice was nothing but onion and rice. gross. there was no restitution just laughter from here. i will never order from here again. read more
