I had the empress chicken combination and added wanton soup and fried rice to bump it to $8. Inexpensive. The chicken was cooked well (still juicy) and the sauce was delicious. **This review is based on a pick-up order.**…read more I called in this order, and the lady who took the call was quick and polite. Plus, the order was correct, so she was accurate too. Always a good thing. The food, however, was a mixed bag. First, I ordered beef and snow peas (I asked for it to be spicy), and the dish was among the best I've had in a long time. The peas were crunchy; the beef was melty; and the sauce was rich -- and spicy, just as I requested. Because I don't eat a ton, I ordered the upgrade (to fried rice, wonton soup and an egg roll) to share. Meh. The broth was nice, but there really weren't wontons in it. Rather, they were ribbons of way overcooked pasta. Not a deal-breaker, but nothing memorable. The egg roll was the typical freezer-to-fryer variety. Not terrible, but hardly plump and definitely not rolled in-house like the good ol' days. Finally, the fried rice is missing something. Not only do I believe that it was never cooked in a wok, but it also had a scant flavor of sesame oil and little else. I'm not usually one to tell people how to do their business. This time is different though, since I am not the only one to mention the bland 'fried' rice here. Use some soy sauce. Use the wok -- and not the microwave. And perhaps, use an egg and a little garlic. But hey! These guys have been in business for a minute, so we 'fried' rice detractors must be in the minority. All of that to say, this place does an outstanding job with the beef and snow peas. But next time -- if there is a next time (I live in Houston) -- I'll ask for the steamed rice and dress it myself.

The tofu was nicely prepared with a nice crunchy fried exterior without being overdone. The space was fine: more geared toward takeout than dine in, but dine in is certainly an option. Always greeted immediately and food cooked fast without a long wait. I love that their roast pork is thinly sliced and well cooked. Pieces are not fatty or chewy. Vegetables are nice and fresh and perfectly cooked with a little crunch left. Not cooked too long or soggy, even in brown sauce. The General Taos and Orange chicken is nice and crisp, but would love more of a white/breast option for consistency. Some of the pieces can be stringy/chewy. Might have been a one off with the lo mein, but the noodles seemed too soggy or overcooked in water. Will give another try. Their egg rolls are great NY style- fat, round kind about the length of 3-4". Hard to find in some places. Reasonable pricing and food is always cooked fresh to order! Look forward to choosing them again!

China Wok is a lowkey Chinese restaurant in Broadview Heights. I visited after working up an…read moreappetite after skiing. I discovered that it's one of the only Chinese restaurants open later in the day in the surrounding suburbs. I was very excited to try a new restaurant in this part of town but it was a miss for me. AMBIANCE: Simple surroundings with Chinese menus displayed on the monitors, red lanterns descending from the ceiling, simple art, and plants. The tones are light orange and peach. The dining room only has a few tables of four. The dining room also has a chest freezer that is unexpected. The decor is pretty dated yet exactly what you'd picture a Chinese restaurant to be. FOOD: Multi page has it all - appetizers, soups, fried rice, chow mein, chop suey, chow mein fun, egg foo young, lo mein, chef specialties, Hunan and Szechuan Specialties. There is also a small category with special diet dishes. The diet dishes include steamed veggies, some with shrimp and chicken. I ordered S22 - Honey Chicken ($12.75). It comes with a side of white rice, no egg roll. I took a few bites of the dish and settled for chips for dinner. Honey Chicken portion was generous and was in a separate container. Chicken pieces were very dry. They didn't seem to be cooked in sauce but rather sauce was added later. I heard some microwaving during meal preparation and it was probably for this sauce. Honey sauce is just melted honey. The two ingredients just aren't cohesive. Side white rice was small, too clumpy and dry. The meal wasn't at all enjoyable. SERVICE: The service was very intense. I got the impression that the employee did not want to cook anything at this point of the day. I have to say that meal prep was almost instant, much faster than at other Chinese food takeouts. The employee also welcomed me to return, which was nice. FREE TEA: The restaurant serves free hot tea (flavor unknown). Disposable glasses are available. It's a great treat for dine in or to go especially on frosty winter days. PARKING: Large plaza parking lot. Plenty of parking! Overall, it was a quick late evening stop with mediocre food. I was really craving Chinese food and was disappointed it wasn't good.

Everything looked good but taste was Lacking! Beef & broccoli, was watered down. The meat was soo fatty, I chewed and chewed, it wouldn't break apart! My side of white rice was minute rice! It was fluffy and not how it should be. Wonton soup, broth was fine, like chicken stock. Inside the wonton was some kind of dark brown substance. Not pork, and no slivers of pork in the soup. I tried a spring roll & egg roll. Yuck. They both tasted slimy inside, maybe the wrapper wasn't cooked all the way? Also the sweet n sour souce for them was watered down. $25 wasted.

Kinda like when when your Aunt Suzy says you, "Just have to meet my neighbor's daughter. I know she's 47 and still lives in her parent's basement, but you'll really hit it off because she likes 'The Netflix', too..." Well, China Renaissance is that place for me. After being told that I just had to give it a shot, I finally did. Well, the first time I tried they cancelled my uber eats order after an HOUR with little explanation. Minus one star. After I waited the customary 30 days for my anger to subside, I decided to give them a fresh start and ordered again. Based off of reviews, we went with Mongolian Beef and General Tso/Tao/Tsao's Chicken. Fun Fact: General Tso was a real person, and his family doesn't like the fact that an Americanized chicken dish is named after him, but I digress... I opted to add $3 "extra beef" to the Mongolian Beef order, because, well, I'm kind of a glutton. What arrived was a very tasty beef dish that unfortunately was mostly vegetables and without any trace of the "extra beef". It was almost as if my cardiologist intercepted the order and told the chef, "No, no, no... more veggies for Dan..." Tasty? Yes. Worth the $12 I paid for it? Not a chance. Minus one star. The General Tso's chicken was decent, and they obviously use a higher quality of chicken than most places do. There's just one major issue I have with that: I like my General Tso's to be the smaller chicken cuts of questionable origin that I've grown accustomed to. If I wanted huge pieces of chicken breasts in a barbecue-like sauce I'd just do it myself on a grill. Now, I know that General Tso's Chicken is like the chili of the Chinese food world: It's different at every place. Nonetheless, minus one star. Just like Aunt Suzy's recommendation, this was a letdown.
