Steamed Pork Dumplings - Thick skin dumplings with ground pork. Typical Chinese takeout dumplings with a good amount of filling. Dan Dan noodles with ground pork and peanut sauce - Noodles with spicy peppers and pork on top with peanut sauce below. Mix it up and it's got a good burn. Pretty spicy. Cellophane Noodle with Shiitake Mushrooms and Bean Curd - One of our favorite dishes here. A light sauce with large mushrooms and tofu, with Mung Bean (glass) noodles. General Tso's Tofu - A spicy sauce with tofu squares. Very runny but tasty. Shrimp with Honey Walnuts - Large shrimp in a creamy sauce with walnuts. Crabmeat and Shrimp with Angel Hair - Mei Fun noodles in a light sauce with real crab and shrimp. Really, really good. Metered Street parking out front and a paid municipal lot available just down the street. We'll be back.

He used Google translate much better than I did and all our items were from this special menu. Lots of peppers used for the spicy popcorn chicken. Another dish had pork belly with peppers and tofu in a well made sauce. Some stir fried greens. Off the regular menu, Taiwanese sausage fried rice. The sausage wasn't bad but nothing beats the place my family has gotten theirs from by mail order. Staff is friendly and the table was tight with all these dishes. The tea was well balanced and plentiful. We made it work with small plates to eat off of. This place had a decent crowd for a Wednesday night.

Since local Chinese-American take-outs range from 'okay' to nothing more than…read more'a-little-better-than-okay,' I thought we'd try ordering instead from a restaurant. Though we hadn't been there in years, Golden Bowl came to mind. Consensus: we spent a bit more than we usually do, but the food was a couple of notches better. As a point of comparison, we ordered our usual soups: hot & sour and egg-drop wonton. Hot & sour was thick and spicy. (To temper the heat, I cut my serving with spoonfuls of egg-drop.) Wontons were nicely filled and less doughy than our usual take-outs. Two thumbs up for the soup. Mongolian Beef is my husband's favorite. We both agreed that Golden Bowl's version is pretty good. Our other dish, Sizzling Triple Delight, is best eaten in the restaurant. Nothing was sizzling, but the components -- beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables -- were well prepared. Broccoli was al dente and the brown sauce was rich and flavorful. All-in-all, branching out paid off. We'll most assuredly do it again.

From the moment you walk in the door, the wait staff take great care of you. They make sure you are happy with your table, your order, and experience overall. So helpful and friendly. That makes all the difference. The food is delicious. In the past we've had hot tea to drink and it is always a great choice. Over the years we've had many appetizers, but the pork and chive dumplings and all the soup dumplings are our favorite. We love crafting our own dipping sauces using the 4 different options on the table (dumpling sauce, chili sauce, vinegar, and soy sauce). Yum! We've also had many meals over the year, but our favorite is the lunch meal deal. This includes a smaller meal portion over rice for a lunch price. It keeps us coming back for lunch year after year! The chicken with garlic sauce is my absolute favorite. My husband mixes it up a lot, but he really enjoyed his orange chicken this time. One time we came for dinner with a large group and the servers took such good care of us. They even provided a chop-stick tool and guided demonstration for the kids with us. It was so sweet! The decor is warm, inviting, and appropriate for the dim sum menu. The dinning area and bathrooms are always clean. We love Tom's Dim Sum, and we know you will, too! See you next time!
