Zero personality. No fanfare. The only thing he did was light the onion volcano and even that was lackluster. Food: Sushi was swimming in mayo/mayo based sauces. Fried rice had a sour taste. Veggies were meh. If you want a fantastic teppanyaki from ambience to food drive to Kyoto in Crystal Lake or Kobe in Algonquin. This place is barely a step above Benihana.

I hate to say it, but the service was a little below what I'm used to at a Teppanyaki restaurant. Generally, you have somebody dedicated to your table kind of hovering around and seeing if they can get you anything. Here we waited a long time to get drink refills etc. The food was less flavorful than what I am used to at this type of restaurant too. The main problem is they do not use garlic butter. It's amazing what this does to the flavor profiles of all the food from the fried rice to the chicken to the steak to the vegetables. The chef was nice but was throwing shrimp around that had butter on it and got on many of our clothes... The atmosphere was completely normal for a place like this, perhaps a little more cramped than normal. People sitting around talking and enjoying watching the chefs prepare the food.... I have not tried the other big Japanese place, will be interesting to compare....

The noodles were similar to fettuccini in width and slid easily into my mouth. Portions were filling for both of the items. The dipping sauce was tiny sized, but plenty-and reminded me of Thousand Island salad dressing, but slightly different. The vegetables for both were onions, carrots, broccoli, and some sort of squash/zucchini, all sliced small/mini-bite sized. The spring rolls are the deep-fried kind, and vegetable. Not sure if these come with a dipping sauce. Plenty of my friends seem to enjoy their bubble teas-might try this on a return visit. They also have Rayume sodas. Location is in a parking lot across the street from the Menard's on IL 173, just West of Rockford Speedway. The parking area is not well lit, so beware of the large potholes that will gobble up your tires as quickly as you will gobble up this tasty food in a few parts of the lot, but there is plenty of open, free, parking, and it feels safe. If they are busy, they will give you a pager so you don't need to stand around the trailer after you order and pay (they accept credit cards and cash). I assume the parking lot allows for semi trucks, as it's huge, spacious, and on a state highway/not far from the I-90/I-39/US51 interchange and assumed to be on a truck route. No restroom facilities on site: it's a food truck.

It's hard to find good takoyaki that doesn't have the texture of mush. My guy and I split the Black Garlic Tonkotsu. It was good, but I've had better.
