One of the best Chinese joints I've ever gone to. Simple fare, nothing fancy, just darn tasty. The vegetarian options are limited, but the Spicy Beancurd is exceptional. Good service, quick, happy and ready to oblige. I live up in Oakland now, and miss being able to just drive five minutes away from this great place, but I will go there every month or so for their food. And if you like spicy foods, put some of their mustard on their house-made eggrolls; hits you like a load of bricks mixed with a religious experience. read more

I just moved to the area and (still) craving Chinese food. I went with this because of the great reviews. The chicken is rubbery and had an odd flavor to it. Maybe it was frozen, battered then fried? The carryout portion was rather smaller then I'm use to also. Bummer. read more

I would not even give this place one star. I ordered a shrimp dinner combo and it had a total of three shrimp no joke. Even making things worse, the big white woman behind the counter is absolutely rude in every sense of the word. I still can't believe I spent money here never again!!! read more

Ordered yesterday for the first time. Never again. If you like soy sauce and noodles this is the place for you! Nothing was fresh! I ordered Szechuen Shrimp. Other restaurants I've ordered from this was wonderful, loads of FRESH vegetable, nice shrimp (fresh) and rice. Theirs? came in the small cardboard container (thought they forgot it at first as it usually comes in a dinner size container). I discover it, tried it, spicy yes, but soy sauce ... oh dear! and there was maybe 6 soggy vegetables in it, a half dozen shrimp (smaller than a quarter each) ... this small container of noodles with few shrimp and vegetables cost me $9.75. The other dinner we ordered was pepper steak for $9.50 (first time for him to try Chinese food - his came in a dinner sized box) he couldn't eat it and placed it in the fridge in case I wanted some. I looked at it later, didn't look good, sauce was all congealed on it, tried a bit of the steak and it was nasty! as if they left the meat out too long, was NOT fresh, and again, way too much soy sauce! We also ordered the large fried shrimp at $10.00 an order. Ready? Four shrimp! Never never again. read more

I'm from New Jersey and so close to New York where there are so many Chinese food restaurants and I do miss them lol. Moving here I didn't really think I would find an authentic Chinese food restaurant here(which I was right) but this one is by far out of the others that I've tried in Michigan I kinda dig this one. read more

Was a huge fan when I lived closer. Now I tried it after moving to Carleton & it doesn't compare to China club on grafton. If you like this, you'll LOVE china Club! Better egg rolls, not over cooked petrified chicken.Also charges $1.00 for extra plate to share with small child, didn't tell me put on bill! Really?? Almond chicken gravy is Not good! Just plain tasty. My wife and I are not from the area and are always looking for good Americanized Chinese Cuisine. My wife had the Orange Chicken and I had the Schezuan Beef. Both were extra spicy! Decently priced carry out and didn't spend more than $20. Totally worth another visit. read more

Pretty average Chinese fair, I mainly go back for the amazing service and prices. Their curry chicken is very good, different from Indian curry but still very good as its own separate thing. It's always the same guy I see in there who does pick ups and waits on tables, and he is very polite and attentive. Their heat scale is really tame. I order "extra hot", while I would usually order "medium +" at other places. read more

The food at China House was excellent. I had the Vegetarian Delight and was looking forward to eating there again. Unfortunately, the staff was NOT accommodating to my dietary restrictions. I asked if I could replace an egg roll with a spring roll in my dinner and was told no. Then, another worker came to my table and told me that the soup that came with my dinner was chicken-based so if I didn't get the soup OR the egg roll, THEN I could get the spring roll instead. I did that and had a wonderful meal. When I went to pay, the manager/owner told me that I still had to pay the extra $1.20 for the stupid spring roll. Honestly, I don't care about spending $1.20, it's just ridiculous that I didn't have two parts of my meal and they still would not give me a spring roll. Furthermore, the front of their menu has a lovely spiel about how we are their "guests" and they will do anything to accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, etc. I guess that was not the case for me. I've been a vegetarian since I was 15 years old; I don't eat meat and if you can't replace a miniscule part of the meal that I'm paying for, then you won't get my service again. read more
