I got a combo (takeout) - pork Egg Foo Young, an egg roll, and rice. I also got a bowl of wonton soup which came with crispy noodles to add to the soup. There were hardly any vegetables in the egg foo young, just large chunks of pork, and the sauce/gravy was so salty I could hardly eat it. She almost forgot the sauce, as I headed out the door she yelled at me to come back saying that she had forgotten to put the sauce in the bag. The egg roll was tasteless and the wrap was chewy, not crispy, as though it had been cooked ahead and sat under a heat lamp. The wonton soup was okay, but the crispy noodles were stale, like they had cooked them the day before, or days before. The woman that I assume owns the establishment is also the woman that takes orders. I ordered chicken chow mein with chicken fried rice with white meat only. Once I return to my office, I saw that it was not what I ordered. I called and informed the woman. She initially denied that an error was made. I returned the food to the restaurant, untouched. When she looked at the food, she still would not acknowledge an error was made. She was extremely rude and offered absolutely no apology whatsoever for their error. My family loves their food and one family member says that it tops and China restaurant in Muncie. They love to carry out when in Anderson. This place is beyond disappointing. I discovered this restaurant about 13 years ago and was extremely happy with it always fresh food and always tasted great. The prices kept going up, but I can understand due to inflation and what not WHAT I CANT ACCEPT, is the quality of food. I had thought that this was a good Chinese food restaurant but the owners have lost respect for themselves and their customers. We ate takeout from here earlier this week and have had the trots since. I couldn't believe how cheap of rice they are using now, so cheap it breaks up to tiny bits not a grain of rice to be found. The general tso's with fried rice wasn't terrible but I've had better, it was very bland. The steamed dumplings were absolutely disgusting. They threw in 2 fortune cookies which were both broken, which I understand could have not been their fault but that fact that the wrapper was open and taped back together with scotch tape was very unsettling. We threw the whole meal away. First and only time ordering takeout from China House. Ordered General Tso's chicken, vegetable fried rice, chicken chow mein, steamed dumplings, egg rolls and crab rangoons. The dumplings were not cooked all the way and were doughy and made me gag. The fried rice had a weird piece of something in the first bite I had and made me gag. The general tso's chicken was so-so but I had to spit a piece out because the tendon and gristle was too tough to chew through. I thought the chicken chow mein was chicken with noodles but it was just saucy chicken pieces with onion and celery. My fault because I couldn't read the menu. AND, they forgot to include our crab rangoons but still gave us the sauce for it. When I called to tell them the girl who answered was not understandable so I just hung up. My husband will normally eat food we paid for regardless if it was good or not. We threw the whole meal away. This was one of the worst chinese food place we have been to. I can not recommend the food from China House. We ordered out tonight from "China House", after hearing some positive feedback. With being new residents here in Anderson, we have yet had any experience with what is offered around town as quality Asian cuisine. But this first attempt was a massive fail. I would not recommend someone even trying this food once. And it's not like just one item was a little bad, all the food was bad, unfortunately. I can not see myself even giving this place a 2nd taste. Don't waste your money, unless you are looking specifically for something labeled as Chinese with no flavor. We spent almost $60 on take out for the whole family and ended up giving the food away for free to individuals with under developed taste buds. read more

For fast takeout Chinese food at an excellent price, you can't go wrong. A few people reviewing here had bad experiences .. but I have been many times and it's always so fast and easy. The lady taking orders always gets it right - and she is fast and curt - but I'm not trying to have small talk over ordering food. And it's always less than 15 min. One of the better places to get Chinese in the Anderson area! We love to get the General Tso's dinner which includes a large enter for chicken, fried rice, and an email for under $8. Food is always hot and ready to pickup in 15-20 minutes. Service is friendly and although this place is more of a done in a song business area, they seem to do doing well for business! So the place is clean, and the food tastes great, however. I ended up spending $46.00 because I ordered way to much because there was to much of a language barrier. He could not understand the questions I was asking, and I couldn't understand him, he was getting pushy and impatient with me because I couldn't understand So I ended up with two extra pints of fried rice instead of them changing my white rice out for fried (never in my life have I been up-charged for this before and no where in their menu does it stage that it's $3.00 per meal to make his change. My kids food ended up spicy even tho I asked him if the dish itself was spicy and if it was if he could change that but he didn't understand. This little gem is one of Anderson's finest! My wife and I moved to Noblesville a couple months ago, but whenever I happen to be in Anderson for business, I always stop in to grab some China House carry out. Their chicken fried rice is to die for, and better yet, it will not leave you hungry two hours later like so many other Asian restaurants. Crab rangoons are my wife and I's favorite appetizer, followed closely by the delicious (yet greasy) egg rolls. What is most notable about China House, however, are the VERY generous helpings and remarkably low prices. Your containers are always packed to the top with rice, chicken, vegetables, etc. and you never feel like you paid too much. We frequently have leftovers every time we dine here. It may not have the most stunning or opulent interior/exterior, but the owners know what they are doing and they do it the best of any Asian restaurant I have visited. read more

The ingredients taste fresh and the broth is light and flavourful. Their lo mein is good--not too heavy and greasy--and their fried dumplings are delicious. The rangoon leave a bit to be desired (I found little trace of crab, fake or otherwise, in our last order), but that's not unusual. Seriously the worst dumplings we've ever had. They were steamed or thawed in the microwave. GFS version? House made and frozen ahead? Unsure and don't care, poor texture and little taste, little filling, overly chewy dough. Cashew Chicken - adequate but certainly not standout. For the talk of "traditional" Asian or Chinese menu, I witnessed none of it. There are far more better offerings nearby or in Fishers/Carmel/Muncie/Anderson - in the same price range. Sadly, I wanted this to be above average and it delivered a meal that I would rather have my money back. If I could give zero stars i would. My husband and I ordered delivery to a hotel 10 minutes away at 9pm. It's 10:30, no delivery and no sign or any driver, not to mention no one at the phones, I've been sent to voicemail four times. Horrible horrible horrible. Finally the delivery showed up at 11, an hour after the restaurant was closed. Cold food, and the delivery driver didn't speak a word of English, just took the money and left. Would've been better off getting McDonald's. After so many good reviews, what the hell happened????? Not only that, but about two hours after we ate and finally went to bed, we both woke up with horrible stomach pains, running to and from the bathroom throwing up and using the facilities. It seemed like food poisoning to me, seeing as how we both are the same thing and got sick at around the same time. Family owned restaurant. We have been going there for over 10 years. They have generous portions, and everything freshly made. Best low mien I have ever had. And the general tsao's is perfect, big and sweet. My whole family enjoys it, even my picky 3 year old. Dumplings and good size, and the dipping sauce is delicious. This place is horrible. My wife used her card to buy food for me and our son while she was at work. They charged the card no problem. Then when the guy pulled up he asked for her ID. I obviously didn't have it. He refused me my food. So I told him that I needed that money back into her account immediately, so we could feed our son. I called the place, and basically got told that they'll get around to it, before she hung up on me. If you actually like eating, stay away from this place. Here, rice is out in a big bowl ( not heated nor cooled) just setting there waiting to be used by the cook There egg rolls are pre fried and setting out, ( a large pile of them) again not heated or cooled, waiting for there chance to go back in the pool. This makes for a very stale egg roll. They use to have fantastic steamed dumplings but now they microwave them. There food doesn't seem very flavorful to me. I ordered a combination plate chicken with cashew nuts. I could barely understand her, but that is not uncommon for places like this. I asked what it came with and she said fried rice and egg roll. I told her I wanted the chicken fried rice. I told her I also wanted a large fried won-ton. She asked for my phone no. and I had to ask when it would be ready. When I arrived, she said my total was $17. something. I was having such a difficult time understanding her, that I just handed her my credit card and decided to eat the cost and find a different place next time. She held my credit card up and asked if I could give her some cash! I took my card back and gave her my only $20 and asked her if they don't take credit cards (even tho' I saw the credit card sign on the wall). . She said "yes, but I like cash" grinning real big. I had no trouble understanding that. I said, well now I don't have any cash. She gave me my change still grinning. Maybe a good thing they didn't have my card no. When I got home, I found I had the combination plate with it's own fried rice plus a large chicken fried rice and the fried won-ton. The extra chicken fried rice, which I didn't want was an extra $6.50, so that's why my bill was so much The portions were ample for that type of place, but there were only exactly 5 cashews on top, that's it.. The flavor was okay, minus the cashew flavor that should have been mixed in throughout. The fried won-ton I had once before when my kids picked up carry-out there, and it was perfect that time, but this order had a different kind of meat in it and was definitely not the same and not very good. I gave it one star only because 0 stars isn't an option. I came in here twice. First time was good, I had the general tso's chicken and some egg rolls (stale and not warm). Second time I went in with my mother who was having a craving for some Chinese food. I must have no noticed the first time because I waited for my food outside but the lady who works there wears bedroom slippers to work. Her hair was barely pulled back and she keeps it hanging up front. On top of the inappropriate and extremely dangerous attire (for her because she does work around fryers) I also noticed all the meats are kept out in a bucket on the line..probably all day too. They should be kept refrigerated in order to prevent bacteria from growing on them. Most of our meal was microwaved as well. I was just absolutely disgusted. I do work in the food industry, and I know any health inspector would have a heart attack with sight of how they dress and how the food is prepared and left out all day. read more
