We stopped in since it was the only place open for food at 9pm. Glad we did. Service was quick, friendly, nice menu. We ordered the PuPu Platter for 2 and General Tso with Pork fried rice. Big portion, nice flavors. A good Chinese restaurant is hard to find, but if you are passing through Goffstown, NH, it's worth the stop for take out or dine in.! read more

I've lived in Goffstown for a long time but have only tried this restaurant twice now. And I don't know why! It's really good. We placed a takeout lunch order and got 3 combination plates: General Gau's, Szechuan Chicken, and Sweet & Sour Pork, along with a Pu Pu platter for 1 to try out all the little fried appetizer bits. Everything was hot, fresh, carefully packaged, and delicious. I've been stopping at China Gourmet in Goffstown over the years for Chinese takeout. They also have a dining room too. The food here has been good and I've ordered the lunch and dinner combinations ($7.95-$11.95) including the Pork Lo Mein, General Gau's Chicken, and Shrimp Egg Foo Young with pork fried rice with choices of appetizers (1 app for lunch & 2 apps for dinner) such as the chicken fingers and beef teriyaki sticks. The food is cooked fresh to order and my takeout order is usually ready in under 15 minutes. Recently, I stopped in here for lunch takeout during a rough time (COVID-19) for everyone. The place was open for takeout only, no dining in. Upon entering, the front counter area was retrofitted and sealed off with glass and clear plastic. I ordered the L24 Shrimp Egg Foo Young ($8.95 plus tax) with Pork Fried Rice and 3 Chicken Fingers. I briefly went back outside to my vehicle and went back in 15 minutes later and the food was packed and ready to go, sliding my bagged order through the glass window for contactless pickup. I ate my hot lunch in my vehicle. The portion of food was very good, 2 fried shrimp egg foo young patties (with a blend of egg, small tender shrimp, shredded onions) with hot dark brown gravy (not thick) in a separate container. The pork fried rice (tan color) had a soft texture with sauteed onions and small lean pieces of roast pork. The chicken fingers were deep fried golden, crispy outside with white meat boneless chicken inside, batter not too thick and served with duck sauce. Ive been using this location as my go to for chinese food for years however it seems like every time we go lately the menu prices have been updated. I understand that cobid added additional costs to business however the same order that cost us 56.00 2 months ago is now 81.50. Definately not worth those prices!! Will have to find a new place. I've tried every place around the area for Chinese food Watoy which is alright nothing amazing, and then north garden which I don't recommend, now this place people will say that the outside isn't great and the inside isn't either, which is a complete lie people expect for this place to have some crazy inside, it's cozy they have always been nice to me, they never mess up the order, I always love the food it's better than both places and I've had many of my friends say the same thing, the food is good price and the portions are always good. I get takeout from china gourtmet at least 2 times a month. This place isnt much for sit down dinning, but what chinese resturant is? I typically get the number 11 general gau's chicken It is AMAZING!!! they will let you order lunch specials for dinner, but its 2 dollars extra. Part 1 of the Goffstown Chinese Review Moved to Goffstown recently and was looking forward to my first Chinese experience. We debated which of the few options to try and settled on China Gourmet right in the middle of town. This place doesn't deliver, so had to make the drive over. It's in an unsightly building on the main strip. It certainly doesn't look like it would be worth eating at. Of course, I can do without the aesthetics if the food is good. Unfortunately, this place is nothing to get excited about. We got the General's (which the only other reviewer said was unbelievable), some rice, wings, and the true bell whether for determining Chinese restaurant success (my opinion): crab rangoon. All of it, while edible, was just so-so. General's was eh, the rice did not have that fried rice flavor you look for, and most disappointingly, the rangoon were quite bland. I've got a couple other local places to try, but unless something drastic changes, I don't think China Gourmet is going to be my new go-to place. read more

I have been getting takeout from this restaurant for over a year now and I have to say it's one of my favorite places to get Chinese food. The food is always nice and hot and the portions are great. Usually always get the scallion pancakes and the crab Rangoon to start which have been the best over some of the other places in the area. Then I usually get the general gaos tofu or sweet and sour chicken which are both great. Out of all the times I've been there they have never gotten my order wrong. Recently moved to the area and trying things out! First off- the portion to price ratio is unbeatable! You get a ton of food for your dollar and I was very impressed. The Singapore curry noodle was delicious as was the sesame chicken, dumplings and dumpling sauce( sauce was unique and tangy!) .. why not 5 stars?! The crab rangoons were mediocre at best and lacked crab.. like.. no crab .. and they were abut soggy around the bottom. In addition the rice portion that came with the sesame chicken was tiny.. adorably packaged in this mini take out box but very sad! Will we return? Sure will! The pros out weighed the cons and I'm hoping maybe they were a little low on imitation crab that evening haha read more

My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday, and what a surprise! The food was delicious. I got the General Gau's Chicken combination dinner with pork fried rice. It also came with 2 appetizers of my choice. I chose the crab rangoons (3) and the beef teriyaki. Everything was amazing and spiced perfectly. My husband is very fussy and often resistant when I ask him to "take me out for Chinese food". He says Chinese food sometimes makes him sick, so decided to get the Chicken Pad Thai Noodles instead. It was a very good-sized portion and he loved it and ate every bite! This will now be our new go-to restaurant whenever we want to eat out. The food is outstanding and everything is very clean. The waitress was very friendly and helpful too. In our opinion, they only lacked some soft Chinese background music to add to the wonderful atmosphere. We got a Poo Poo Platter for 2 and Chicken Fried Rice. At first glance, the rice didn't look like Fried Rice. Very light in color but the flavor was good and that is what matters.
