Another disappointing meal just outside Chicago. This is the worst Chinese food. Panda Express is better. I ordered 2 Shrimp egg rolls first off the was no shrimp, only something that looked like shredded beef. They were so overcooked they were burnt almost black. I ordered General Tso's chicken. It wasn't General Tso's chicken. It was kind of a cross between orange chicken or sweet and sour. I also ordered an order of Crispy Fried Wontons. They were so overcooked, I could hardly bite through them. I ordered hot and sour soup. It tasted good! I'm a food critic, and a great cook. I would be embarrassed to serve this food. It is sad anyone would be proud to serve this garbage out of their restaurant. This left me hungry and out about $40.00 because this food went into the trash. read more

The food is always really good when I order from here. Today I ordered the healthy steamed shrimp and broccoli and the shrimp/ broccoli was perfectly done. You get a nice sauce on the side too. There is only one reason I am giving China Garden 2 stars and it is because their prices have gone through the roof . I have ordered from them for years and I find the food to be good , however a bill for over $40 tonight was excessive. It certainly will inhibit further orders . read more

We order from China garden two or three times a month. The restaurant is only for order pick up. No place to sit which is fine. The food is absolutely spectacular. Always fresh. Always on time. Just finished our take out. Not good. The egg rolls were greasy and the mustard packs they gave us were old - the mustard was gelatinous. No sweet and sour was available. The crispy pieces of wonton for the hot and sour soup were stale. The sesame chicken was mostly dark meat, very fatty and the pork fried rice was yellow and the pork looked like it was just cut up pieces of canned pork - Spam anyone? The moo shu pork was the only thing I could really eat. After I placed the order I was worried they may use MSG, now I'm less worried about that and more about what I may have actually ingested. Please note - I'm not a regular disgruntled, complainer on yelp, you know the type that's never satisfied - I love trying new places and I'm always hoping for a good experience, however, when it's as disappointing as this was, I feel it's only fair to warn fellow yelpers. read more

I am very surprised to see the wealth of good reviews here. My first, and what will be only visit, was pretty terrible. To lay it out: 1.) No soy sauce, duck sauce OR fortune cookies were given, kind of a big deal if your customer orders white rice. 2.) The sweet + sour pork, while not an impressive dish at most Chinese restaraunts around, was borderline inedible. Luke warm, the "cherry sauce" A. Lacked cherries completely, and B. Tasted like a melted snow cone with some corn syrup added -- very gross. My mom barely ate any of her meal either, which to my eyes looked horrible as well. The ordering was confusing, and even funnier is that our order was called in ahead of time - and I still had to wait 10 minutes for it to be ready. Really, it's pretty bad. It made the garbage Chinese restaurant I thought was "meh" in college look glorious. You're running a risk of a terrible meal eating here. read more

This is perfectly adequate strip mall takeout Chinese food and I waffled between three and four stars as a rating. But we've been here 4-5 times now and it's always been tasty so I bumped it up. The food's not too salty. Our food is often greasy, but that's to be expected...and there are nice big chunks of fresh broccoli, green beans and pea pods to balance things out. read more

My friends and I ended up at China Garden after spending time stuck in traffic on Randal Rd. We decided to head back home and get some food on the way. We called on our way over to China Garden and spent a few minutes talking in the car to make sure that our order would be ready. We walked in and the food was ready to go. My friends order from there a lot so they know the orders. We got the lunch specials which are a decent price. Upon getting back to the house two of my friends had to reheat there chicken dishes because it was a little undercooked. The food is good but they NEVER answer the phone!!! I always try to call last time I called 15 minutes after they opened, nothing. I kept trying and it wasn't until about an hour later that they answered. Today I've been trying to get a hold of them and they just don't answer at all. Not impressed. I asked myself 'would I go back?" and my honest answer is that I would look elsewhere first with this being the absolute last resort. The food here wasn't horrible, but it was far from the best carry out Chinese I've bad. I'm new to the area and hope there is a better alternative not too far away. As for the actual food, I just didnt like it. It seemed like cheap ingredients and didn't have much taste. Good for the area. We have ordered from here about a dozen or so times. This past time, the food was really improved - we always get general tso's chicken - moist, tasty. This place is not prepared for eat in diners. We didn't have silverware or played and napkins. No one waiting on us. We had to use the to go plasticware. The food came out at separate times. The white rice was last...go figure. We paid for quart size items and got half of that served on a plate. No serving utensils. I ordered tea and my children asked for cups and everything was served in a styrofoam soup bowl...wth! The quality of the food was good. The food tasted good. I was mostly disappointed with the experience. Also the place is dirty and this photo of it does NOT depict what it looks like, including the overflowing nasty garbage can not shown in the photo.
