I was expecting a decent Asian meal, just quick and hot. But beyond the quick, friendly service, I was surprised by how DELICIOUS the sesame chicken was (added a bit of spice if you want) and the fried rice. It was so full of meat and veggies. The restaurant is clean and a typical Chinese takeout establishment, but I analyzed everything behind the counter and it was all orderly, organized, and sanitary. It's hard to find good Chinese takeout the farther you get from the City, BUT China Garden is the exception. The location is unremarkable, being in a generic shopping center. The interior is old and tired, but it reminds me of my favorite hole-in-the-wall takeout places that I would often order lunch at when I worked in the City. I've tried almost every Chinese takeout around the area for lunch, and the price and food at China Garden can't be beat. First, for about $5 to $6 you get a big meal plus an egg roll or soup (with homemade fried noodles). Second, this is the best tasting food in the area. My favorite dish is the Sesame Chicken. I usually get white rice, but I also like their fried rice which is usually what I am most picky about. Third, they still use the metal takeout containers for their lunch orders. This reminds me of the 90's before everyone switched over to the plastic containers. I like the metal containers because they hold in the heat better (good on cold days) and it's safer for contact with hot food. The biggest surprise on the menu, is that they have beef chow fun which is an authentic Cantonese dish and one of my favorites. It's pretty difficult to get perfectly right. China Garden does a decent job at making beef chow fun, but it's not my favorite place to get it. read more

This has been our preferred delivery place for years. Better than average food, great online ordering and fast delivery. But this past Friday something happened, worst dinner we've ever had from them. Not sure if it's new ownership, new manager, maybe new chef... the general tso chicken and the garlic eggplant were way spicier than normal, The other dishes that we always get were blander. We always get a couple pints of white rice, this time there was none in the bag, also the shrimp toast was off, maybe slightly spoiled, and they always throw in a handful of fortune cookies, this time no cookies. Something changed and it wasn't for the better. We had been loyal customers for years, maybe it was an off night, we'll give it one more try, if it doesn't come back up to their old standards we'll have to find a new place. read more

Refused to do a delivery to Colmar, PA when order was taken online. When I called over the phone to check the status of the order (after one hour of waiting), I have been yelled at and talked over when I tried to speak. The lady on the phone was extremely ignorant saying that we should be thankful that they are putting themselves in danger during this time and working. The thing is - I never said I do not appreciate it or she she HAS TO DO IT. We are the business who volunteers our time to creates a supply for medical workers out there. We spend 16 hours at work to create and deliver to our front line workers in need. Having that response was ridiculously unprofessional. I don't know how their food was because we never got it (or never been offered to pick it up), but i will never go back again I will never recommend it to anyone I know. read more

So my gf was eating beef flat rice noodle and unexpectedly she munched on something so sharp. She pulled a metal wire out of her mouth. After that incident she had PLASTIC in her food. Ordered from this restaurant for 12 years. Never a problem. Yesterday we ordered using their online website. Two of our items were wrong/bad. The rice we ordered specifically requested no mushrooms, it came with mushrooms. And the steamed dumplings were raw dough, so raw and sticky I could stretch it out with my hand. We tried to call them but no answer. So we used the online site to report it. I woke up to a voicemail from the woman who answers the phones at China Garden, telling me I'm not welcome to order there anymore since I complained. You cannot make this stuff up. We used to recommend them to everyone and will never again. Avoid, because if they mess up your order, it'll be your fault. read more

My wife and I went to China Garden last night, and the food was TERRIBLE. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE ! The General Tso's chicken was freezer burned, and hard as a rock. The pork fried rice was SOAKED in dirty oil, and tasted mediocre , at best. The chicken and mixed vegetables was under cooked. The little corn on the cobs were hard enough to launch out of a cannon. The Spring rolls were the best of it. And they are VERY SMALL and bland. All in all, a DISGUSTING dining experience. $31.00 down the drain. I don't have an absolute favorite for Chinese locally, but China Garden is in my top three, (along with Chin's Kitchen and Sakana.) We always get delivery, which always arrives within an hour of ordering, and is always hot, fresh, and tasty. I think their moo shu dishes are the best in the area, and we also enjoy their General Tso's and fried rice, as well as several other dishes that we have tried, but those three seem to be our frequent repeats. read more

Not great. The queen duck was okay I guess but it was just duck. I would definitely get the Peking duck instead. The wonton soup didn't have flavor. The pan fried noodles were thick and gluey. The spring rolls were somehow mushy and undercooked. I feel bad but I wouldn't order from here again. I also ordered chow mein to compare the differences between that and pan fried noodles and the chow mein didn't have any noodles. That was really confusing. I understand why this would be frustrating and if they wanted to cancel our order, but the woman who called me literally cursed me out when I realized we had put in the wrong address, and I was nothing but polite and apologetic. Pretty good food overall!! Egg rolls and Wonton soup were very flavorful. Combo meals were large in portion. Only complaint would be too much largely diced garlic in the chicken and broccoli sauce, but we will deff be returning again soon! read more

I placed an order today from this place and I waited over an hour and a half. When I called the owner they told me that the delivery was on the way. Waited an additional 30 minutes and still no delivery. I called her again and she was more ignorant than the first time. When I asked her how much longer she said he is almost there and she would take $5 off my next order. I told her to take $10.00 off this order, her response was, "I will take it off now but will never deliver to you again." I said no thank you! I will never order from them again. read more

The delivery here is superb and is always hot when it arrives. I ordered egg rolls which came crispy and were also bigger then expected which wasn't an issue. Also ordered the general Tso chicken which had a nice balance of spice along with a gracious amount of chicken. My wife had the hot and sour soup, steamed dumplings and mixed veggie plate which had some of the freshest vegetables from a chinese food place I've ever had. We waited two hours for our food. By the time we got it it was luke warm and it wasn't that good. When I called to complain, and ask for a refund I was told it was too much money to refund and I was offered a $5 credit on my next order. I was told I had to speak to the boss and when I said I would be in the next day to speak with him, all of a sudden he didn't speak english. The excuse I got was that it was the driver's first day. Our delivery order totaling $50 took 75 minutes to deliver 1.5 miles away from the restaurant on a Wednesday night. I called in at the 50 minute mark and was told that our food was ready to go and just waiting for the delivery driver. So our food sat for at least 25 minutes after being prepared- and tastes like it. I think the food would have been just your average Chinese food if delivered even remotely fresh. Instead the rice was hard and dry, chicken on a stick was like jerky and dumplings were soggy. I won't be ordering again. read more
