Used to be great, years ago it was one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. To say it had gone down hill is an understatement. Ordered a lot of food for a group of friends at my house. One of the people being pregnant and can't have bean sprouts and other varies dietary restrictions. So we ordered Pork fried rice with no bean sprouts, which are usually left whole. Instead, the bean sprouts were chopped small, but it's easy to tell the difference between bean sprouts and rice. Also, there was a bone in it, not cool. Called to complain and the lady was extremely rude and at one point even laughed at us over the whole situation. Very disappointed. read more

I have gone here for many years! It has changed a lot, the food used to be fresh tasting and delicious. Over the years it has started to taste less fresh and just gross. I ordered the orange chicken with rice and egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was awful! It tasted like it was made with bad water, the chicken was alright but the fried rice was in such a small portion that I couldn't even have enough to taste. I paid an extra 3 dollars for maybe 1/4 cup of rice. I did not order in but I picked it up through door dash. They were a little slow however when I picked it up they forgot my drink, no problem everyone makes mistakes. However when I called back to ask if they could take the charge off a woman answered and she gad a bad attitude. People have rough days so I am not going to base my whole experience off of that, but the food just was not as good as it used to be! I wish the best to this business and hope that they can use this as constructive criticism!! read more

Really great quality and quantity of food here! You have to know what to order so you don't get garbage food, cuz they do you have some horrific options. However the orange chicken is by far the best orange chicken I've had. Honestly I've been to so many Chinese places and they all failed in comparison. Sweet and sour is pretty good too, but my god the orange chicken was fire. Go during 12-3 and you'll get the lunch price of 8.95, really hard to beat that. There is not 1 negative review on the orange chicken and I'm not surprised. I always grab takeout and it's perfect for a day u don't wish to cook. Note the older Chinese guy with dark hair and slim figure is an asshole, I barely tip him cuz he's so negative. Other than that all is good! read more

We are new in town and looking for what will become our favorite Chinese restaurant... They did not seem very friendly upon our arrival. Like they were doing us a favor to seat us. She Ask for our drink order before we even sat down. Or we could even look at the menu to see what drinks they offer. Our bill was brought to us when our plate was still half full, we were clearly still eating... forks in hand, food in our mouth... without allowing us to order an additional glass of wine or a dessert. Prices are OK and the portions were large. However this was not the type of Chinese food we're used to. The pepper chicken is breaded and fried with a heavy glaze on it. This same dish at The restaurant we went to before we moved here was white meat with a light sauce... No breading not fried. The food was very heavy. Difficult to digest. They did have a "low CAL" menu. Maybe we should've ordered off of that.. We don't necessarily eat low-calorie we just eat fresh and healthy. We noticed that the majority of customers besides us were overweight. We are still on the search for a more healthy/fresh Chinese food. The pork wonton soup was pretty good. read more

I'm in the downtown area often for work and eat here once or twice a month. It's by far the best Chinese food (not a buffet) restaurant around. They've been in the area a long time. Everything is fresh, hot and a lot of it. They are limited on their healthy options so ask to leave sauces off or served on side since this is where most calories come from. read more

Called in for the first time. Staff member was rude, rushed the order, and she cut me off several times in frustration . We ordered Generals tso chicken, shrimp, pepper shrimp, and kids shrimp n lo mein , they will charge for any modifications lol. The food was heavily sauced in this dark brown sauce. And everything was so heavily beaded. It's was hot, it was warmed over and obviously re heated. You that chicken and is almost all breading with little to no fake boxed chicken. Now I have tried more of the menu and am bumping it up a star. I'd give it 3.5* if I could because of value. Definitely add the 75 cents for egg roll and fried rice. Most places give you less of the main entree when you do this, but not here. The fried food hasn't tasted like old/rancid cooking oil in a while, though the vegetables are still nearly raw. I'd prefer my broccoli & carrots to be cooked a bit more, personally. read more

We were out and saw the "Best Chinese Food in Montgomery County" 4 years running. So, against my usual practice of checking reviews here, we figured why not. How bad could it be? After all it's got a sign professing it's culinary prowess county wide!!! I was a little nervous when on Friday night at 825p there were more employees than customers there! After eating there, my supposition is that it must be the ONLY Chinese restaurant in the county! I have eaten Chinese food all over the US and in other countries, not that this was the worst, but I would rather have Panda Express!!! That should be enough, but I will continue with some additional detail. We had chicken chow mein, kung pao chicken and the 'special' meat stuffed wontons. I think that they meant to say "special meat" instead. Very unique flavor to say the least. The kung pao was off as well, with almost a vinegar like taste to it. The chow mein was the closest thing to a high light?!?! but very bland and they put the "crispy" noodles under the chow mein before bringing it out from the kitchen. So, there was nothing crispy about them at all and then they didn't bring the usual side bowl of noodles to add to the chow mein as you eat? The flavor wasn't off, it wasn't at all, there was none. The fried rice that came with the two entrees was bland and seemed 'aged', like it had been made hours earlier. The real high light of the whole meal was that at least the veggies were fresh in each dish. We both thought that the service was very attentive. Then we figured out why. On Friday night, the best in the county, was trying to close - after all it was almost 9 O'CLOCK!!!! So the wait staff and everyone else was just all over us. After all we were the only table there. Before we finished eating the plates were taken away and the check was left, along with to go boxes put on the table!!! It was hysterical!!! I will agree with the reviews that I have read, that the portion sizes are large. But, it doesn't really matter how much you give me if the food isn't that good! My advice is to skip this place altogether. And for those of you that think it is good, EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS!!! To give you some insight, I am a half-Filipina who has pretty much been raised on Asian/Oriental food since I was weaned off of baby food. So, I know a thing or two about Asian food and flavor profiles. China Delight needs to be renamed to China Disgusting, because it is hands-down the WORST Asian food dining experience I have ever had. I ordered Beef with Snow Peas, which is something I typically order because it's extremely hard to get wrong, but can be quite exceptional if done very right. China Delight got it all kinds of wrong. The biggest issue I had is that my beef dish tasted largely of FISH. I half-suspect that there was some kind of cross-contamination issue, because even fish or oyster sauce wouldn't leave an overwhelming fishy flavor like what I experienced. The Hot and Sour Soup was beyond disgusting. It was an oily mess that wasn't even palatable. The only thing really going for this place is that it's dirt cheap, but even that isn't much of a saving grace. Wild horses couldn't drag me back to this travesty against all things Asian! read more

This is the worst Chinese my husband and I have ever eaten. Bar none. Most certainly NOT the best Chinese food in the county. The egg drop soup had a weird after taste and my husbands "black pepper steak" had zero black pepper. In fact the sauce tasted like it was actually a pack of cheap "just add water" brown gravy. The fries rice is basically stale steamed rice with lots of soy sauce dumped on to give it flavor and the egg rolls are obviously frozen and heated in an oven for a few minutes. Just basically awful. Not sure how this place got rated #1 EVER. Had dinner there about an hour before closing last night with a friend. The food was under cooked, especially the meat. Very noisy, saw wait staff cleaning up and pouring unused sauces into a container for re-use... mind you people use those open containers all day and who knows what gets in and on the spoons, etc. Other reviews were right about one thing, VERY huge portions, but not worth the price for the undercooked items and lack of taste. read more

I can see why this place was rated #1 Chinese food in Conroe. IT is very tasty and well worth the drive. They serve huge portions at great prices. I can eat the leftovers for 3 days because they always serve you a ton of food. They definitely have returning customers. The service is good and they are very nice. This is the best Chinese food you'll find in the Huntsville/Conroe/Woodlands/Spring area. I've tried many... It isn't the best in the world, but it is phenomenal. They have the best egg rolls I've ever experienced. I seriously order extra egg rolls. I'd give them five stars but they do not deliver. It is their only downfall. I've never dined in, I always order to-go. The process is quick, convenient, and your food is hot when you pick it up. The portions are huge so don't feel obligated to order a larger size. Their Orange Chicken is humongous. Every soup on the menu is delicious. Their fried rice is okay...and they have a pretty decent lo-mein. Overall, it's definitely the best you'll get in the area; I just wish they delivered. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Maybe a red stop sign to warn you against it would be even better. We shared several dishes and my kids wouldn't even eat it. My fiancé and I both had horrible headaches and stomach aches After our dinner and by the time we drove the two miles home we threw the left overs in a dumpster because the smell (from the trunk) was so horrible. The food wasn't good and the atmosphere in the restaurant was odd. The banner they hang outside bugs me because their food is so terrible but they claim to be voted the best in Conroe. For any visitors I would just like to let you know that as a whole this town has disgusting Chinese food. So don't take this banner to mean much. For those saying this is great food, I feel sorry for them. I grew up in Houston, which is just a stones throw, but the food as a whole there is just SIGNIFICANTLY better. Even bad Chinese in Houston is better than this place. And, if you're able to drive down to Rayford/sawdust then eat at Golden China. It looks like a case of food poisoning waiting to happen from the exterior but I've eaten there for years and the food is wonderful. After seeing the "Best in Montgomery county" sign my son & I stopped in for lunch one day. BIG Disappointment! I had the Honey garlic Chicken sounded great but there was nothing special about it. Some breaded chicken with sauce on the side that tasted like it came from a bottle at the supermarket. The Fried rice was awful & the egg roll was even worse! I wouldn't even attempt to come back & try another dish. With the egg roll & fried rice being so gross what would b the point! First of all when you walk in the door, it looks dirty and old. This is my first experience with this restaurant. I ordered takeout. It came pretty quickly and the staff seem to be friendly. When I got home and looked at my meals I received 9 dumplings instead of 10, and my combination meal came with maybe 1 teaspoon of rice. Not a big deal I thought these things happen. When taking the first bite of my food it was like smelling old dirty gym socks in a locker room. This is by far the worst Chinese I have ever had. it was absolutely awful The dipping sauce for the dumplings was ice cold and appeared to be spoiled. Was here a couple weeks ago or so, forgot to review it and saw the rating dropped. I think Adam had an off night :( Brought my dad over here for lunch and we both got General Tso's. Great portions, got soup, bunch of rice and meat, and an egg roll. Very pleased with portions, we were both beaten by the meal! I was very pleased with the cooking. Nice chunks of chicken, not breaded to death and dried out. And lotso sauce! I like plenty of sauce to swirl with my rice. Very attentive service as well, our server was constantlyyy refilling our drinks. And that's saying something cuz my dad drinks like he's getting paid for it. (which I was glad in this instance, cuz a soda was like 2.25!) Overall I def wanna come back. We have been here twice and left satisfied both times. This last time we can in just before they closed at 9pm. The first time we went was after church in a Sunday. Both times we were waited on the service was good. The food is about average for a Chinese restaurant IMO. It's more sweet than spicy, which is a huge disappointment to me, especially when it's labeled as "spicy" on the menu. The portions are nice, and the egg roll was delicious. It's not the best fried rice I've had. I agree with another reviewer who said it tastes like steamed rice with soy to color it like fried. I ordered the Volcano Chicken. It had way too many onions and the sauce was too sweet and not spicy in the least. I asked for Siracha and hey also brought some homemade chili and it was decent. My wife got the Cashew Chicken which had way too much celery. The tea was good. The portions of meat of good. That's usually my complaint with Chinese restaurants. Went with friends who go often. I will never go again. Waitress rude. Felt rushed by her to get our orders. If you want a plate of rice with with not much else... come here. I had Shrimp Kew. Broccoli was tough to the point of not being able to chew it. Small shrimp were battered, fried and over cooked. Sauce bland. 6 at our table and my plate came out 10 minutes after all theirs. After we left I read takeout menu to understand more about what they offer thinking maybe it was an off day or what I ordered and see that most of their meals with chicken and shrimp are batter and fried. Have eaten here many times over the years. Food has always been consistent, flavorful, and reasonably priced. Tonight was no different. Food was served quickly and was hot and flavorful. I had sweet and sour chicken and my wife had Kung po chicken. Didn't have to ask for refills and the waiter even brought us a to go box without asking. Always a pleasant experience at China Delight.
