General Tso's Chicken General Tso Chef Chu's Chicken

Tried China Delight for the first time last evening. Had order delivered and first impression was very pleased with the large portions and thinking what a great value. I tried the chicken and initially I thought it was a bit tough. Shortly after I immediately noticed the overpowering taste of salt. Holy high blood pressure! I love general Tso's and was so excited to try it from this restaurant, but other than the oversized portion (which was just more for me to throw away) there's not more I can say. I couldn't eat it which turned out to be a complete waste of money. I won't be back. It was a very poor experience and I wished it was much more.

Its East Texas, so yes, this Chinese restaurant plays country music. A little unusual, but yeehaw, y'all! I'm going to dispel some of the comments in the previous bad reviews. - The staff is VERY friendly and welcoming - Very quick to take the food and drink orders - The food that I had was VERY good They took my order really quick when they saw I was ready, and the food came out in 2-3 minutes. My first thought was "oh no, this isn't going to be good." But I was wrong. The food was fresh and PIPING hot - seriously! I had the Kung Pao Veggies entrée ($7.25) and the Hunan Veggies entrée ($7.50). Each entrée includes white steamed rice, but you can make it a combo with an egg roll and ham fried rice for 90 cents. I went with the steamed rice, no combo for me. Unbeknownst to me, each dish was served family style and would probably enough to feed 3 or 4 people - the serving sizes were HUGE. The Kung Pao Veggies included PLENTY of mushrooms (yum!) and a perfect balance of the rest of the veggies. The spice level was perfect and had great flavor. The Hunan Veggies plate had most of the same veggies as the Kung Pao dish but included bamboo shoots and onions. It was also slightly spicy but had a sweeter sauce in it. They also serve wine and beer. I was there the week before Christmas, so as a bonus, they gave me a Chinese "cane and wooden wall scroll" calendar. As I mentioned at the beginning, the staff was AWESOME here! They've been in business since 1984, so they must be doing something right. Stop in and give them a try folks!

Been coming here since I was a kid. Nice servers and good food. Decent prices...not too high like other Chinese restaurants.

The second time I visited, I had the Hong Shao Rou with mushrooms (Braised Pork Belly) to-go, not a huge fan of takeout and this didn't disappoint and it was good. The takeout team member was pleasant enough. They feature an open kitchen with two tops closer to the wall/glass and larger tables more toward the middle of the restaurant. From the outside it features the traditional Chinese architecture with western building base. I look forward to yaksying the rest of the menu this year.

But the inconsistency has been an issue for me, and the flavors aren't as good as they once were. Dishes I regularly ordered like Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Japanese Egg Tofu, and Honey Walnut Shrimp haven't stood out as much as of lately. Dishes like Szechuan Spicy Chicken is still one of my favorite, and Garlic Snow Pea Leaves are delicious when in season. Bamboo House still holds its place as great spot for group dining. The portion is generous, prices are fair, and overall a solid restaurant that's still worth recommending.

UPDATE - lowering this to one star because both my wife and I got sick last night on this stuff!…read more So I walked into the restaurant thinking I'm going to get som amazing Asian food....as I entered the heat of the inside hit me - it was easily 78 degrees. That should've been my first sign when I walked in. It was hotter inside than it was outside. I picked up the menu looked at it for a hot second and then thought well. I'll just order something. So naturally, I said pad Thai, standard Asian meal. Not at this place they didn't have it and she looked at me strange. So I proceeded to look at the menu and found some random dish that looked decent and ordered. Then I ordered drinks and she told us after we had paid the soda had no carbonation in the machine so we could get the drinks out of the fridge. So we went and got the drinks out of the fridge, sat down open them up they both were flat. I suspect if I had checked the dates they were both expired, but I didn't bother. So we sat down and literally one minute later, the food came out... Which tells me that all the food was likely premade, and this was just a buffet that was hidden in the back. I ate, and it was well.... Let's just say the Woodlands Mall Asian foods a bit better than this stuff. Anyhow, I did encourage the team who works here to turn the AC down a little bit, make sure the fridge doesn't have expired drinks/flat drinks, make the food like they serve it to their family. I'll report back shortly and let you know if there are any biological effects of this food... All that for $45 - two dishes, two flat drinks, two rice.

It's one of our family's go-to Chinese takeout/delivery spots, -General's Chicken is crispy and never too spicy. -Sesame Beef is pretty tender. -BBQ Pork Fried Rice is a variation that's hard to come by, and my husband likes the little bits of char siu pork, -The Plain Lo Mein is just noodles tossed in a barely-there sauce that my kiddo loves. Reliably decent.

The woman who took the order over the phone and at the pick up counter wasn't very personable. Seemed as if she was rushing around although the restaurant wasn't at all busy inside. Perhaps just having a bad night? We ordered Chicken Lo Mein, General Tao's, Honey Walnut Chicken, crab puffs, and spring rolls -- portions for dishes were fairly standard, all of which were just ok regarding flavor and texture. General Tso's lacked spice and the texture of the chicken was gristly. Lo Mein was average tasting. Honey Walnut Chicken actually had more spice than the General Tso's... but regardless, was pretty bland. The crab puffs had hardly any cream cheese filling, and the ends of the fried pieces were hard and chewy which was disappointing. How can you screw up a crab puff? The best thing we ate were the spring rolls which were light and crispy paired with the sweet and sour sauce. We wanted to like this place, however, there are far superior Chinese restaurants in the area. I doubt we will try again.

The house fried rice came packed in the container and was still warm when I got home. It was evenly seasoned and tasted fresh. The vegetables weren't over cooked and the meats were delicious. It was very easy to order and the cashier was so nice. The restaurant was clean and nice inside. I can't wait to try another dish from here.
