Honestly, just like before, it's just ok. Many reviewers are stating the food isn't as good as it used to be. Personally, I've never found the food here to be all that good but as stated above, just ok. It's definitely different now, but the results are the same. One big difference is they now deliver. Which is great, until you find out about the $10 delivery fee (which is grossly insane to me). The menu prices appear to be about the same, maybe a bit more (gotta love inflation). The food is....meh. It seems to be more in line with the quality you'd find at Panda Express. Depending on how you feel about that place, it could be good or bad. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken lunch special with egg drop soup and fried rice. The soup came with a dirty spoon and was lukewarm. The wanton was not crispy and the egg roll was plain. The fried meat items were pretty good. Eggroll was decent. Hot and sour soup was the absolute worst I've ever had at any restaurant ever. Egg flower soup was okay. My fried rice however was concerning. As I was eating, I noticed an awful smell coming from my fried rice. It smelled like mold or sour milk. I tasted it and it didn't taste bad, but I couldn't make myself eat it. It seemed like it was old and dried out. I didn't want to ask for them to remake it because if they could have done fresh rice in the first place, why didn't they? I will say that the old owners had the best recipes and everything was always fresh, decently priced, the food was phenomenal. There used to be so many cars parked in the lot. I will just be honest and say it was gross. The hot and sour soup was not like any hot and sour soup I've ever had. I couldn't eat it. Husband took one bite and said no way. This being the only Asian food in town, it's kind of pointless to review, but, I need to say that they closed and reopened shortly ago (under new management) and we are now getting far less food for what was already rather pricy. My main issue in this order was my hot and sour soup. It contained next to no ingredients! Seriously, it was a container of broth and a spoonful of tofu. This is hands down the BEST Chinese food in Yerington. Ok, it is the ONLY Chinese food in Yerington. Is it the best Chinese food I have ever eaten? No, not even close, but it is pretty good and I have eaten here a lot and it is consistently good. Some of my favorite items are: - Chinese Chicken Salad - Kung Pao chicken/pork/beef - Won Ton Soup - Shrimp with curry - Szechuan chicken or shrimp - Chicken with broccoli Hot tea is brought without asking and is included in the price. They also have beer - both American and Chinese and wine by the glass. Fried or brown rice can be substituted for the plain white rice. Service is friendly - yea I know all the kids who work here so they better be - and the food comes out very quickly and is always hot and fresh. Generally a full dinner for two falls under 20 dollars. This is definitely worth a stop if you are in Yerington. read more

Ate there yesterday. It was the sort of casual environment I like (seat yourself and chat with the owner for a few minutes :). Lunch special of Curry shrimp was just right. The Currey was just how I like it (savory and not too hot - just enough to remind you it's curry) and the vegetable's were fresh and yummy. Egg roll was fresh and not too greasy. If I could give less than one star I would. Four of us went there for dinner on Wednesday night and ordered all of our favorite dishes and drinks. The beer was good, the rest was burnt. How can you burn Chinese food? Everything, I have eaten there many times in my life and it was always wonderful. It is under new management and they have a terrible cook. No vegetables were included in the dishes, used American noodles not Chinese, nothing like I have ever had before. It looked like it was covered in Soy sauce, but it wasn't. They said I ate it when I just tasted it, so they charged me full price. I walked out of there paying $76. They made me pay full amount for everything and wouldn't even taste it . The others didn't even try it because they said that the color was all wrong. They didn't even give us some kind of a discount. They charged full price. It just amazed me. Still does. I cannot in good faith give this place a good review. It is currently under new management, but it is now worse then before. I understand every place has an off night, so I gave this place two chances under the new management. The first time, the food was subpar, but I gave it then benefit of the doubt since they just reopened. Went there last week for a second chance, and I will not go back. First off, the place smelled funny. Secondly, I've been to plenty of Chinese restaurants and there's no way my food should have been ready in less than five minutes after I placed my order. The quantities are large, the server was efficient, but there was nothing particularly special about the good. It's best to keep your food options open, because they will close randomly for days at a time any time of the year. While staying in yerington recently, we decided to try Chinese food. What a pleasant surprise china chef proved to be! The staff was friendly and the food outstanding ! We were starving so we ordered the generous war won ton soup, dumplings (home made), shrimp with curry sauce and Kung Po chicken! All of the dishes were outstanding! My husband and I are fond of this quirky little town, which has the remnants of a genuine early 20th century American main street. The first time we stayed here while offroading in the area, we tried the China Chef, expecting the greasy spoon "Chinese" food so common in the west. What we got was a decor that looked as if somebody actually wanted to create a welcoming and interesting dining room, and a fresh, well-cooked, tasty Chinese American meal, all at a price that was competitive with the town's McDonald's restaurant. Figuring that our first experience just *had* to have been exaggerated in memory out of relief that we'd found a tolerable meal, we tried the China Chef again the next time we went through Yerington. We expected a default "Chinese" lunch plate. What we got had the same ingredients and dishes that would normally be included in the lunch plate, but much fresher and better than we had expected. In particular, the chef/owner seems addicted to good fresh vegetables and knows how to cook them. :-) This weekend, we stayed in Yerington while offroading again, and tried the China Chef at third time. Third time is the charm -- I got excellent puckery hot and sour soup, what appeared to be homemade potstickers, garlic chicken that was a feast to the eyes as well as the tongue (orange carrots and green broccoli can be that if they're really fresh), and tasty pork fried rice. That does it. This is a good, inexpensive restaurant that deserves better than to have the word "cheap" used to describe it. The locals in Yerington fortunately seem well aware of what they have; the place has been busy every time we have gone there. I hope that it continues to succeed, because I want to find it the next time I'm in Yerington. ;-) read more
