3.5 stars. China Buffet is a casual Chinese-American restaurant that offers an all-you-can-eat buffet for a reasonable price. I ate lunch here by myself one time. When I entered the restaurant, an employee kindly greeted me and processed my payment for $15 plus a tip. I chose a table on my own. The dining room looked nicely decorated and clean. The buffet area offered dozens of Chinese and American foods (NOT authentic Chinese foods), ice creams, and fountain sodas. I filled up two plates with foods such as a spring roll, crab rangoon, chicken and broccoli, rice and shrimp, stuffed mushroom, a few desserts, tangerine, etcetera. We always come to China Buffet on Easter and we always have a great time! It's pretty inexpensive to get it - I paid about $22 with tip. It was kind of busy - at one point every single table was taken up! Once you pay and come in, you can stay for as long as you'd like. The inside must have been remodeled somewhat recently because it's nicer than you'd think it would be. There's a bunch of different tables and booths and they suggested that we put together three tables so that our party of 12 could sit together. The food itself isn't authentic Chinese food by any means (there's even some things available like macaroni and cheese and Italian chicken) but it's hot and plentiful. There's probably around 10 types of chicken available along with things like fried rice, shrimp, lo mein noodles, and a salad bar and dessert bar. All in all, I think it's reasonably priced for what you get and I would come back next Easter! read more

You cannot beat the price for the variety of the food! It was only $17 for a huge range of any food you could want: seafood, lo mein, salad, chicken, cake, etc. I tried a bit of everything and it was all delicious! My favorite was the crab cake and grilled salmon. Although this place and the food was not anything fancy, I've never seen such a worthy price for good food. read more

Food quality is better than other Chinese buffets I've had in Pittsburgh. Lots of variety but still for some reason feels pretty narrow. Wish there was chongqing chicken. All my homies wore suits because my mom was in town which was funny. Seller is that it is cheap ( less than 18$ a person, cheaper on weekdays) and you can get a lot of food. read more

When I lived in Pittsburgh, I came here all the time with my grown children and grandchildren. The service was great and the food was delicious and plentiful. More importantly, it was reasonably priced. We loved going there. I live in Maryland now, but when I come home to Pittsburgh to visit, our family always goes to this restaurant to eat, at least once. China Buffet is very clean and they have a decent amount of choices. Funny enough, a third of the choices aren't even Chinese food -- maybe for picky kids who only want Mac and cheese, buttered noodles, "Italian chicken," or questionable pizza lol! My favorite of the Chinese dishes was the chicken and broccoli, which tasted quite similar to what I would order at a standard Chinese restaurant. I did wish that they had egg drop soup. Maybe they just didn't have it the day I visited or it isn't something that they usually offer. The desserts were mostly unremarkable. And no fortune cookies? While I didn't eat from it, I actually thought the salad bar was very well presented. It had crisp, fresh lettuce and many choices for toppings. It maybe needed a few more dressing choices (which is actually why I didn't end up making a salad) -- needed Italian or a vinaigrette. All in all, if you are going to a Chinese buffet, you have to keep your expectations in check. I actually did enjoy going to a buffet or two in my college days. After church in the area, a few friends and I came to this place for lunch. Due to COVID precautions, the restaurant is only offering take out, but allowing us to sit in their dining area to eat, with tables spaced out to accommodate COVID guidelines. This meant that the buffet was available, but we had to put what we wanted to consume in a to go container. As usual, I wanted to try a little bit of everything, so it was a bit difficult to fit it all in. Thankfully the cost was very reasonable at around $6.99 per pound. I even purchased a drink, which was only $1.50. I enjoyed almost everything and most of the food was yummy and well seasoned. My favorites were the fried fish, fried shrimp, honey chicken bites, crab and shrimp scampi, along with chow mien. The vegetables (such as broccoli, green beans) were cooked well with tasty sauces. The fried rice looked really good, but was a little bland. I wasn't a fan of the stuffed shrimp either - Maybe a bit too fancy for a casual buffet spot. I am glad that they are reopen for indoor dining. I have been waiting for a long time (a year?) for this option. Drove about 45' to the restaurant. It was around 12:30 pm on Sunday (02/27/2022). The room was packed 20 minutes after we arrived. I am sure they are having a hard time like other restaurants from the pandemic. I see that the chief is also doing cashier and waitress jobs. Last time I was there, one lady was doing cashier and another lady doing waitress jobs. However, it does not mean the chief did not do the jobs right. He did very good in both cashier and waitress position. Price: Sunday (All day buffet): $15.95 Weekday: Lunch:$13.95; Dinner: $15.95 Open hours: You can check it out on Google or Yelp Customer service: 5/5 Food: 4/5 (for the price). I wish they have some more options. But, the quality of the food is good compared to other China buffets. Price: 4.5/5. Reasonable, according to the inflation and pandemic. I am happy to pay this price with the current situation, quality of food and customer service. By the way, drinks like hot tea, soda are included in the price. I will return to the restaurant some more time to update my review. I understand the negative reviews from past years. BUT .. WOW ! It's not an upscale buffet, but the place deserves 5 stars from me. I enjoyed the lunch and definitely will return. I found the place clean, warm and very comfortable place to sit for a nice hot/warm meal already made, serve yourself. I love the wood decor I think it works really well. It is a small place but just enough. The sushi was very good crab meat !! The fried rice was fresh and tasty. I like the chicken and broccoli sauce. I thought the Hersey Ice Cream cups as dessert other than a soft cone machine was a great idea !! The new price didn't bother me in the least 10.99 for lunch was a reasonable price and I felt it was with every penny. I like the Italian fish on a Chinese Buffet was GREAT !! hehe Highly recommended!! If your near Trader Joe's and want a good hot meal go to China Buffet!! I will return !!! read more

This is exactly why you give a place a second chance. I have not stepped foot back in here since my last visit/review. I won't lie, I was apprehensive, but I decided to give it a second try. Walking in, this does not look like the same place. Somewhere between my last visit and just now there was a major remodel done. This place is so much more inviting than it was before. I was pleasantly surprised by how warm, spacious and welcoming this place now is. I feel comfortable and don't feel as if I'm in a late nineties fast food eatery. Food wise it appears that they upped their game a bit as well. The buffet is well attended to and offers some basic fare with a bit of a twist on some other items. Fresh and kept coming always making sure there was enough to go around for everyone taking in the buffet. I enjoyed the fresh hot tea, it was nice to have some hot tea on a cold, rainy day. Definitely a huge step in the right direction for this place. Plus the water didn't taste like you were drinking out of the garden hose. read more

I was extremely pleased to find China Buffet in the corner of the shopping plaza. Food was quite tasty. Atmosphere was quite peaceful. The buffet was well stocked. Customer service was decent. Great decor and setting. Very clean and appealing! All was good until I tried the food! I tried crab rangoon, fried rice, lomein, sweet and sour chicken, maylysia chicken, General Tso chicken, honey chicken, cheesy crab and fried chicken. I go to many buffets like this so I don't expect gourmet but come on, this was dreadful! Crab rangoon was hard and chewey with little filling, all chicken dishes were very tough and dry, nothing tasted fresh. rice and noodles were cold and gummy, cheesy crab was fair and fried chicken was good. We were taken aback by the price: $13.50 for lunch: the highest-priced Chinese lunch buffet in the region, to my knowledge. There is a nice selection of items. This is not the finest Chinese food I have ever had, but everything was tasty. I especially liked the sauteed mushrooms, fried rice, and egg foo young. The only thing missing was a tofu dish, which is not easy to find, and a mixed vegetable dish, which should be offered. I would expect fresh pineapple rather than canned for the price. Beverages are included and are self-service. The only service provided by the staff is to remove used plates. The two staff members we encountered were friendly. This place is okay if you need a quick meal. Not high-class Chinese food by any stretch of the imagination. But at least we didn't have to cook or wash dishes. My husband liked it better than I did. The vegetable-fried rice was good, but the General Tso's chicken was chewy like it was over cooked. The side dishes are cheap buffet, mostly out-of-a-can things. The desserts looked better, but I wasn't in the mood to eat more. The won ton soup was largely unobjectionable. $10 bucks a person. read more

While the food at this place is decent, the hostess needs to be a little more respectful when asked about the pay first, then eat policy. The hostess was rude and stated if you don't want to eat here, then leave! To be fair, the guest was a little loud because she was alarmed that they asked for $69 before offering a seat or a meal. However, the low rating is warranted because it is unacceptable to "yell" at customers that find your pay me first policy unusual and offensive. read more

I love this place! It's always so nice and comfortable. The server, Ida, is very kind and attentive, and the food is always fresh. It's a great place to go for casual fare with a buddy or family member! I notice a lot of workers coming in around lunch break, too. A lot of people mention that it's small, and that's true, but they pay a lot of attention to the dishes and you can see them coming out and refilling them while you sit there. I love the take out side but the buffet side has issues with hair in the food. I dont know if it's from the cook or the traffic from the customers going back and forth past the food. The first time I found a hair it was half baked into the chicken so that may have been the cook but the second time(in the last 15mins) it was just in with the chicken.
