We ate here on Saturday, more of the items were go vs. ok. eggs rolls were ok, they sat too long, chewy and not hot. eggs drop soup good, wonton soup ok, noodles absorbed to much broth. chicken wings good, good coating and taste. bourbon chicken, good flavor, not over cooked. beef with onions and pepper, good, tender and tasty. pork with onions and peppers also good. plenty on deserts, cream puffs good. staff was attentive and cleaned plates as we went back to buffet. price was very good read more

Actually, it was real good! I was skeptical because of some of the reviews. The people that work there were kind and gracious. The place was clean despite it being a bit runned down. I think the oldness adds to the "ooky" factor and takes away from the fact that the food was good, the plates, tables, silverware, and bathrooms were clean. The food quality is the basic Chinese buffet kind....not the best but definately not terrible. Lot's of variety and something for everyones tastes, sushi, fried foods, baked foods, American selections, fruits, desserts. The water tasted ok, filtered, not sewer water. The ice cream is creamy and not the ice milk kind you get at cheap buffets. All you can eat, so go with a decent appetite! read more

We went to China Buffet at 4411 Aidan Ln, North Port and we were once gain delighted that we did. The whole place looks as if it is updated on the inside. They got rid of all the carpeting ann now it is a much cleaner and brighter buffet! The food as always, is excellent and the staff are so very friendly and helpful. We are going to go here more often because we enjoy it so much! If you have not gone there or have gone in the past, you should check out their new digs. OK, I put up with the rude - very rude - staff because the food was decent. I am a disabled woman who uses a walker. Some little twit sat me as far away from the buffet as possible. No room for my walker. I'm cramped in a corner and can't get out. I mean, WTF? I'm the paying customer. Don't make it hard for me to give you my business. This restaurant is disgusting flity, carpets, floors, and ceilings. Vents in ceiling must have inches of dirt and dust. The food was also the worst I have ever had for Chinese. Tried a few things, sweet and sour chicken was dry and hard. Ribs were like leather. Only thing that was decent was shrimp in shell. The cocktail sauce however was terrible too. I switched to a small salad and melon. Also, clams had a strange strong taste to them. Would never recommend this place. The food tasted good (especially the Wonton soup), it Just wasn't very hot. None of it. It was terribly hot in there and apparently had been for roughly two months. It's bad enough to expect the customers to try to enjoy their meal in that heat, but I feel really bad for their employees. It seems inhumane to me. The China buffet is nothing glamorous, however the staff are pleasant and sometimes it is very convenient. They do have wonderful soups and love their apple strudel. However, today I was horrified to see these damp, used dish cloths left resting on the food bars, touching the plates and above my head. Despite having a discreet word with the server and also with the young woman at the desk, nothing changed. Having had food poisoning before from contaminated dish cloths touching other things, I was naturally most upset. And, since they did not seem to think that my caution and recommendation that they remove those dirty cloths important, I'm sure they don't mind me posting here about it. read more

During the pandemic times you would think they would take more precautions in regards to a buffet. The floors were so covered in grease I darn near slipped going up for food. Food really wasn't anything to write home about. The server was very attentive but our party of 4 were one of three tables being occupied on a Sunday evening at 6:30pm. I' only eat fish so trying to find a restaurant with more than 1 choice of fish is really hard UNTIL now, this buffet serves so many variety of food including fish selection it's amazing. Ever since the Port Charlotte Panda Inn closed my family and I have been trying to find another Chinese Buffet. We went at lunch time and the place was reasonably busy. They had a fair selection of items, but most I tried did not have a memorable flavor. Most were okay, but nothing really special. The drinking water tasted strange (more than a chlorine taste), but that might have everything to do with North Port. I read several reviews saying the food was lukewarm. I can attest to that. I'm not sure why because there were enough people to have a fast turn around time on the food. The water baths had steam coming out of them at the ends.... not sure. Maybe their lights are not strong enough? When the food comes out it is hot, but most of the items I had were lukewarm to warm. One in my party got diarrhea that night without eating anything after the buffet. Most, if not all, items were available; I don't recall seeing empty trays. The entire staff was very friendly and very attentive! Best I've seen at a Chinese buffet. The buffet lunch price on the weekday was $8.29 which is a little higher than the competition but still reasonably fair if you make this the big meal of the day. We have a comparable Chinese buffet closer to us that is a little cheaper, so I do not expect to return. If this had better tasting food than our local buffet we would gladly make the weekly drive. read more

A fairly decent selection of typical Chinese buffet offerings, but several of the entrees had odd flavors and the most serious concern at China Buffet is that the food is not hot. Although entrees may be hot when they come from the kitchen, they cool down very quickly because the steam trays beneath them on the buffet lines are not hot enough to keep them that way nor are the overhead lamps. Some entrees that should be hot, such as the fried fish, had actually been placed alongside the sushi and unpeeled shrimp on the iced line, so, naturally, they were stone cold. We suspect the iced line is safer to eat than the other offerings, but we didn't really want a cold lunch. We appreciated the friendliness of the staff and comfortable atmosphere. And the scoopable ice creams were a nice touch. Pricing for M-F AYCE lunch buffet = $8.29, M-Th dinner = $10.89 (weekend prices higher) would have been reasonable if the food had been hot. As it is, we won't go back for fear of food poisoning. read more

The staff is very nice, so I gave them an extra star for that. I never eat the crab legs and we still have to pay the same price. My Fiance and I try to go to have a lunch date once every week and this week we wanted Chinese. New to the area - I "yelp" the restaurants near us and this is the one we chose. We got there shortly after it opened and were were greeted with a kind face and smile. We instantly looked at all the rows of food ready to eat - it was very clean and neat. We were super impressed. Impressed not only with the food selection, the price was PERFECT for lunch. I love sushi and the variety they had was over the top for a buffet and a buffet this size. This was a totally child friendly place and even had child pricing! There is a nice variety of food for a child as well, because as we all know, not all children love Chinese food. Did not visit the restrooms - so no feedback on them or the cleanliness, but I would venture to say they should be ok based on the rest of the place.
