I'm afraid Buffet City is not my cup of tea anymore! Yes the servers and the cleanliness is fine. I just don't see much of the same dishes that were there before. Yes it's during the week and out of season. No oysters or crab legs. No crawfish or breaded shrimp anymore. Lots of sushi but most had the fake crabmeat. Maybe it's just me, but a lot of the dishes were empty while the staff was trying to refill them. Dave had hibachi stir fry and really liked that. But personally it was not my cup of tea anymore. I didn't have high expectations, but this place was pretty darned good. True test -- hot and sour, and theirs is great. Thick, spicy, and plenty of ingredients. I followed up with egg drop. (Don't judge me! I'm a soup person!) Buffet City has an extensive sushi/sashimi station. The fish was fresh (I hope!) and better than other buffets. This was our first time dining here. Upon entering, the restaurant looks appealing, but once you reach the dining area and see the food stations, it becomes discouraging. The cleanliness at several stations was concerning, and having cold desserts displayed alongside hot food does not make sense and could potentially be unsafe. The quality and taste of some of the dishes were just average at best. We decided to try the hibachi, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing--the chef seemed inexperienced, and the food lacked flavor. My boyfriend and I went in for dinner and The food was actually pretty good, and we didn't have any complaints about the meal itself. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. As soon as we finished eating, we felt like we were being rushed out. Our original bill was around $50, but when we went to pay, the waitress didn't wait for us at the register or go over the total with us. We didn't realize until after we had already paid that the bill had increased by almost $10 without any explanation. Whether it was an added charge or a mistake, it should have been communicated before payment. Buffet City use to be my favorite restaurant, but they have changed. Their shrimp were great, they use to be deveined, but the last 3 times they were not. Their fish was not crispy & were small, soft pieces. They had one tiny crab leg in serving tray, they never refilled the tray. They are always small & usually only add a few pieces at a time. . Prices have changed, and the quality for food has gone down! Their prices have increased to $21.99 on weekends. All of their food is barely warm, no hot items on buffet. By the time you add taxes & tip, cost was over $60.00 for 2. Don't think we will go back unless at lunch M-F. Food was better then than on nights & weekends. read more

This place used to be good as a Chinese buffet. Last night it was expensive, food was cold, a lot didn't taste good, pepper steak was so tuff I couldn't eat it, coconut shrimp were all breading with no taste, ribs were very greasy, but the crab Rangoon, fried shrimp and boiled shrimp were good but were not deveined. The staff were yelling at each other quite a lot in a very loud voice and weren't very friendly. The owners need to read these reviews and make changes!!! Their prices DON'T reflect tariffs!!! What they do reflex is wasted food from lack of customers eating most of it and not feeling well after. The food that tasted good was left empty and not refilled. This was an above average Chinese buffet. The receptionist greeted me in a very polite way and took me to a nice table. The young lady server brought me my flatware and drinks. The food was hot and tasty. The steam was rising out of the steam tables, so I felt confident that the food was being kept at the right temperature. It was a good variety. The food was ok the service ok after the food we felt sick right as we got home and the some of the food smelled tainted the place isn't so clean and the hygiene is kinda OK But I would not recommend this place to go eat and now after her, but we feel even more sick. The food smelled some of it pretty good some of it extremely the crawfish look really tainted and they had like a really strong chlorine smell so much mass. I see so many smudges all the silverware had lip marks the food all over the place is messy. The spaghetti and the pudding are great. The spaghetti is not too salty, not too sweet. The service is great; they gave me a lemonade in 1 minute. The ambiance is awesome because there is a pink blossom tree, a green blossom tree, and some very cool-looking chandeliers. read more

We have been to Buffet City for the past five years since we moved down here. We always loved it but the last couple times were very disappointing. We went for Father's Day and it was nuts. The food trays were empty especially the crab legs. The food that was there was warm at best. The ice cream cups were freezer burned and service to get a beverage or your check to leave was crazy. Went with my friend. She loves to go to this place so she took me. I love the chandeliers and the fish pond and of course I better love the food. We both ordered hot tea @ $.50 at least for now. We took turns going to the buffet so that each could watch the others belongings so you can free up your hands. They have plastic gloves to use but not everyone was using them but I did because I care. They have a large variety of many foods this was the higher price day all day, but you get a discount for being a senior. On higher price days there are crab legs and such. Waitress could have been a little more friendly but for these days and times I will excuse her. And the whole place has beautiful chandeliers fish pond and split off areas with seating. I had some ham on my plate and had to ask for a knife as you only get a spoon and fork wrapped in a napkin. My ham needed to be cut due to my dentures. At least it was like a steak knife so was able to have a little bit of roast also. They also have a sushi bar which does nothing for me I don't eat that stuff. In the back they have a table to pick out all the different things to go on a stir fry and a gentleman will cook it up for you and give it back to you. Every thing has good flavor pleasing to the eye and everything seemed to move along well. Even though I don't use the sushi bar I noticed they have proper warning about raw fish and also they have a little tip bucket for the person in back of that area. I did not notice if the cook in the back had a tip cup or not but I'm sure he did. I have many choices of desserts which I don't eat much of due to diabetes. At the end of the trip we both checked out the bathrooms they were fine I've always heard if the bathrooms are clean then the restaurants OK. Plenty of sanitizing stations throughout the area. There's a hibachi section where they cook the food of your choice which is also unlimited. Very delicious! They keep the areas clean and make sure everything is running smoothly. it's a very pretty place when you walk inside, you first notice the cherry blossom, then the Koi Pond. With rows of fresh hot food, the workers are nice and polite. So we had a party of 5 . One of our guests could not eat but to a medical issue. He just wanted to enjoy being around the other 4 of us . Our waitress was told he wouldn't be eating and all he wanted was water . Holy fuck was she rude . She was told all parties was on one check . She came to our table to make sure he was t eating. He was not eating he couldn't. She then asked him to leave so we could go to a smaller table . She brought out two checks and made it a Point that she wasn't happy that we did y move . Our guest did leave the table ( Disabled Veteran) . This is the most rudeness of this place I've ever been . We will never go back . She followed my dad to the front to pay and then pointed to the tip place line . This place can isn't worthy of our business. You don't treat people like like . We I'll never go back . Last Sunday we went to Buffet City at 2150 Tamiami Trl, Port Charlotte. This was not our first time there, but we decided to come there early and arrived when they opened at 11 AM. I have to say, this was a much better experience for us as it was not busy at all. The food was all so fresh and you could move easily and pick out the morsels you wanted with ease. The place was clean and bright and without all the people, it was actually delightful. One thing I appreciate about Buffet City is the sheer variety that you are presented with. The food was all good tasting and as I said, it was fresh. It is one of the best places around if you are entertaining picky eaters. Even the fussiest person is bound to find something they will like. They have everything from sushi to beef; green salad items to seafood salads. It's amazing the amount of different foods they prepare every day. If you are ever near Charlotte Square, you should stop in and see it for yourself. I know you won't be disappointed in what they have prepared for you. read more
