Oh how I wish there were half stars! Myself and 3 others came in for lunch, staff was very welcoming, dining room clean and not noisy although it is very old and can use a serious remodel. As for the food we seem to have had different opinions at the table half of the table felt the food was not hot enough where as myself and my sister thought it was just fine. I stuck with options I know from other locations , coconut shrimp (which was delicious I loved the addition of pineapple pieces), lo mein was good, mushrooms and pork ( the mushrooms were great but minimal pork) and the mixed vegetables were excellent. I also had the crab wontons which were flavorful and full. The salad bar had a nice variety and everything looked fresh. There were some dessert and a soft serve machine with vanilla/chocolate or twist. I didn't have soup but others did and said there were no wontons in the wonton soup and it was Luke warm. Another had sweet and sour chicken and some pieces had no chicken in the breading. The restroom was very clean but run down and the first stall I went to go in had a broken seat. The price was reasonable but it's not a location I will run back to when I'm in the area again. read more

This place has been a staple for years. Solid food. Can be salty but overall decent choices. Their peanut butter chicken and bourbon chicken are special. Really like their noodles. Hot and sour @ egg drop soups on par. Fried and coconut shrimp. I've had both good and mediocre salmon. Nice salad bar choices and fresh fruit. It's not fancy and low volume times can mean less fresh food. If you go when it's busy, it will be fresh. Very friendly staff. read more

Warning! Worst Chicken Egg Foo Yung that I ever tasted! We ordered off the menu and ate in the restaurant. It was just two huge dough balls with absolutely no bean sprouts and no detectable chicken. When I complained to the staff they just laughed. The gravy sucked too. I took my uneaten slop up to the cash register when I paid my bill and told the girl to give the remaining slop to the cook for his lunch! It appears the Chinese can make balloons and drive them around the US but they can't make egg foo yung. Never again!! read more

Absolutely disgusting, the dishwasher came out with a stack of dishes and as he went to transfer the dishes he picked his nose, and continued to refill the dishes. I was mortified!! Also they charge way too much for the kids price. The staff are rude and couldn't care less about our table full of dishes and never asked if we wanted any refills or asked if we needed anything else. The restrooms were so gross, there was no soap, I honestly don't think they ever clean them. They have little kids running around because I guess they bring all of their family to work every day. Between the staff being rude and disgusting out in open I would never go there again. read more

A nice boofay China Buffet in Manistee is a very typical Asian Boofay and that is actually very nice because you know exactly what you are getting. I could easily change this boofay with a whole bunch of others and I certainly wouldn't know the different. The restaurant was clean, including the bathroom, which is always a good sign. I figure if the crappers are clean then the kitchen must also be well maintained. The staff was quiet but keep our water filled and plates cleared away. Just what I expect from a good boofay. I don't really remember the food except all the items that i expected were there. I didn't have to go around looking for a certain something and could just spend my time dumping gargantuan amounts of food on my plate. We ended up here on 4th of July when every other restaurant in town was closed and how lucky that ended up being for us. Everything on the buffet was fresh and delicious and replenished quickly. Plates were cleared efficiently and service was friendly. Would have been great if the ice cream machines were functioning but otherwise, a great meal at a great price and we will be back again for sure! read more

I've been to bigger buffets than the China Buffet, but what they offer here is really good in my opinion. My family likes to go to China Buffet once or twice a month. I'm a picky eater as it is but I never leave hungry from this place, ever. Generally it's quite the opposite. My favorites are the peanut butter chicken and Japanese chicken. Those in itself make the whole trip worth it. I kinda miss the mozzarella cheese sticks they occasionally offered. I think those were made from scratch just because I've never seen string cheese length sticks before. Some of my other favorites are the crab meat and cheese, swai fish, sesame chicken, and of course one of their little bites of heaven...a sugar roll! The staff is really friendly as well and are extremely prompt on drink refills. I never have to ask them for a refill, they ask me and many times before it's even empty. So I like that! The facility is very clean and well kept. The outside could use a fresh coat of paint but I don't think they're in charge of that. Overall, if you're hungry, or really hungry...stop in and they'll take care of you. If you leave hungry...then smack yourself in the head cause it's your own fault! read more

This buffet is basically the same as any other Chinese buffet. I traveled through the area with my service dog and did not have any access issues. The staff was friendly and the place is clean. The food was good, not gourmet by any means but definitely filling and yummy. I really liked their Black Pepper Chicken, it is different from any I've had elsewhere. Their hot and sour soup is both hot and sour - something that's actually kind of hard to find! I would definitely recommend this if you want to fill up without breaking the bank! read more

This place is ok. Nearly every meat dish is chicken, and the veggie only offerings are slathered in heavy sauce. They do have a nice salad bar with plenty of condiments, but who goes to a Chinese buffet for the salad bar? The buffet selection hasn't changed in ten years at least. Ordered a dish to go. When I got home, the meal was so bad that I could not eat It. I called to complain and the owner stated next time order something else. I asked for a credit given the food I ordered was a disaster and she stated we do not do not give credit or your money back. I stated that I live in town and have been a customer for years..it did not make a difference. I recall hearing that the cook that used to be at this establishment was no longer there and that a family member was now the cook...might be a good idea fo the "chef" to find another trade. I went on a Saturday night. This place is average for a china buffet. It has one buffet tray station for dishes, one for salads, one for desserts, and one for soup and appetizers. This place doesn't look the best from the outside but the inside is pretty nice . Me and my fiancé Meesan were going across country in our hummer and saw this establishment whilst driving through Michigan. We both haven't had Chinese buffet in a long time so we decided to check it out. With our luck we got there when the food was hot and just came out and there was only a few other people there including a family which I will mention about later. The most outstanding dish was the black pepper chicken and the crab rangoons the other dishes were also very good. The service there was also very pleasant and the staff was nice. My only complaint was this family that sat near us had a Obnoxiously loud and all be it Obese child. The child was rambling to his brother about a stupid game called war thunder and was talking about how someone called the online people was bullying him. My complaint about this was his brother was arguing with him and calling poopy pants which was off putting gross this lead their arguing to become progressively louder. My other complaint is that the child literally at half of the buffet within the first 20 minutes hat they were there, I have nothing against this kid but I have never seen a small but large child eat so much in one sitting. It was honestly quite astonishing seeing a child eat 25 plates. I also think the other child has anger issues because he kept screaming shut up remy which I found very odd and strange he also said some brolic man a scrawny child would touch him which was very repulsive and odd. Despite this the nice staff and good food made me overlook the other things that happened 10/10 would recommend but watch out for the comically large child. read more

Clean (for a Chinese Buffet) I've never been sick from eating there. Inexpensive. They keep food hot. They actually stick to their hours of operation. The bad: It's a Chinese Buffet. Seriously, sometimes you just want a Chinese Buffet, and unfortunately this is the only one in Manistee. There are better ones to the North and to the East, but who wants to drive an hour after eating at a buffet?! I can't knock the "Chuffet" (Those who see it will get it) though. Every year we come to Onekama a couple times for vacation. We will stop at least once per trip (often times 2-3 stops per vacation) at China Buffet. They are always very friendly, and they never run out of their food. I have not found any of their food that we didn't like (or love). Great family run business! read more

I've been to China Buffet 3 times and plan to go again in the future. The setting is very nice with glass dividers, at the top of the wooden booth separators, etched with swans or foliage. The food is good and plentiful. It may not be a 5 star rating as listed by previous review(s) but I believe it's at least a 3 star, maybe 4, compared with similar small Chinese establishments. Bright yellow rice? Yes, but some other Chinese restaurants also have bright yellow rice. The crab ragoons and egg rolls are very good along with the S&S chicken. If you leave hungry, it's not because you couldn't find something to eat - even my friend who isn't fond of most Chinese food left full and satisfied. read more

It's hard to review a buffet. Food is never improved by having it sit on a steam table. Also everything seems to be designed for an average palate. Spices are moderated. This is the best china buffet I have ever been to! The sesame chicken is to die for! the vegetables are melt in your mouth! All the entree's are made with love and cooked to perfection. Last time i checked there were no tots you might have accidentally been lost in Napoleon's pocket. Real Chinese establishments may have cuisines that come on a stick, get over it, its teriyaki chicken, and its delectable. They also have a nice array of scrumptious deserts, including an ice cream machine!!! The mouth watering deliciousness is off the charts amazing.
