So as far as buffets it is what it is. It's affordable but don't expect top of the line. .. The food was good. The place was clean. Food was stocked with a large variety. Staff was good. Sushi bar lacked availability. Might go back if I wanted buffet quality foods. read more

China One Buffet in Big Rapids, MI, is the kind of place that delivers exactly what you want from a proper buffet experience--hot, fresh food, a wide variety of options, and service that operates with near-military precision. A group of work friends and I initially planned to grab takeout but wisely chose to dine in. A break from the office was well worth it. The buffet stations were consistently stocked, ensuring there was never an empty tray. Every dish was hot and fresh, a rarity for some buffets. The only mild mishap was one unfortunate diner underestimating the temperature of a bacon-wrapped bite--though, if anything, this speaks to the kitchen's dedication to serving food at optimal temperatures. I piled my plate high with their green beans, cooked in a style I describe as distinctly Chinese--simple, flavorful, and addictively good. General Tso's chicken was rich and saucy, delivering just the right balance of sweet and spice. While I can't confirm the origins of the General's recipe, I can tell you it's certainly not from the Colonel. The pepper steak was well-prepared, and in a strategic move, I borrowed some broccoli from the chicken and broccoli dish, a maneuver I highly recommend for boosting vegetable intake. One of the more mysterious, yet delightful, items was a spring roll filled with a meat pâté-like filling. I didn't know exactly what I was eating, but I did know I wanted more of it. Using green beans as a base instead of rice proved to be an excellent choice, keeping the meal lighter and preventing an afternoon energy crash. The service was exemplary. The staff moved with sniper-like accuracy, ensuring my ice water was never empty--I have never felt more hydrated at a restaurant. The environment was clean, though the restaurant has seen younger days. It has been around for years, and I don't think I've seen a change. China One Buffet checks all the necessary boxes--solid food quality, exceptional service, and an experience that delivers on expectations. I'll absolutely be back, green beans first, mystery spring roll second. If you're looking for a buffet that gets it right, this is one worth visiting. read more

I am very happy with the remodel of this establishment. It looks modern and classy. The only complaint I have though is about the sushi. I love coming here and getting the all-you-can-eat buffet with my family, but recently, the sushi quality has gone down, and now the sushi chef is expecting tips? If you want tips than you are going to have to improve on making sushi. All of the buffet food still slaps, it tastes amazing and I think they are trying harder now because it doesn't make me feel sick anymore after I had it before. Good job. The staff here are efficient and oh-so-kind. Shout out to Mary, she's been with my family through it all. She's my grandma's favorite employee, you are doing amazing Mary, it is always a joy to have you as my waitress every time. The lighting in their has improved by a lot, I like how they opened up the back more. read more

Just tried out this place and everything was and tasted amazing!! They did a good job redoing everything in there

Not a fan of buffets. But thought we give it a go. Nothing terribly wrong just as bad as most Chinese buffets.

Food was okay but not true to order which was and is frustrating. I'm fine with substitutes but say so on your menu. Ordered takeout of scallops and shrimp and received zero scallops. Instead I received fish cake rolls in the shape of scallops. read more

China One Buffet - This is supposed to be a scallop. It is a fish cake roll. False advertising I say. - Buffets Near Me - Big Rapids, Michigan

The food was not good. They do have ice cream, which was the best part. We paid $17 and all felt terrible after eating. The bacon wrapped chicken squishy and the bacon was raw. The orange chicken was rubbery. The sushi was okay, but some was sour. I had a group of 4 and we all had food in our napkins by the end. We gave it an honest try, but it is not worth the price or the sickness. read more

If buffet is your style you will definitely find a few of your favorite items on the menu. The sushi is made fresh to order or you can find some over by the salad bar. They even have a nice selection of hand scooped ice cream read more

My family and I still enjoy eating here every now and again but with everything going on in our world this may very well be our last visit for a very long time. I suppose along with my usual categories of food freshness and quality, cleanliness, service, and ambiance I need to add a Covid category. Since it's a buffet we really only rely in the server to take away the garbage and keep our drinks full and they are usually very polite, and quick. You might get plates piled up sometimes but they're usually on top of it. I'm giving 3 stars instead of 5 because there was no reinforcement from staff to ensure people are masked going into the buffet section or sanitize their hands. Don't get me wrong, I'm a nurse and even I don't know why all the hype over something with a 99% survival rate but there isn't anything wrong with being cautious especially since we will not understand the true effects of Covid-19 until the entire pandemic has been completed. In addition since it's a buffet and everyone is touching the spoons and passing their faces over the food, this is one area I think should be strict! "What about people who can't wear a mask?" Have their servers go get their food. It's pretty simple. While we sat there 3 groups of unmasked people came in and one group had 3 children all unmasked and I saw one get food go to their table, lick his fingers, then return to the buffet. This is a breeding ground for many things. So on the Covid rating I'm giving this location 2 stars because they had the mask policy and staff followed it (even though they didn't enforce it with patrons) and because they had ample hand sanitizer around. Ambiance and cleanliness gets 4 stars each and the buffet food quality and freshness gets 3 stars each. Because... buffet. It's good enough. read more

The food here has pros and cons. The orange chicken is delicious and so is the low Mein. How the fried rice is strange. It is yellow and lacks flavor. So veggies or eggs in it. Prices are extremely steep for what you get. Oh and I have never seen such tiny egg rolls. read more

The food was very good and there was a lot of options. The price was also pretty cheap for a buffet on a Saturday after noon!

Always been a fav of mine, though last time the price seemed very steep for 2 adults and a 3 yr old we payed over 50$ not sure how but other than that it's always been good. read more

Not impressed with the quality food. Had a sample of the varies items. I will not recommended this restaurant to anybody read more

Food is not that great. The price is unbelievable. Way too high. 15 dollars per person for lunch is bull.

Worst food I've ever eaten. Everything is tasteless and has probably been frozen for weeks before served. Absolutely disgusting!

Went today for the buffet, honestly the texture of beef pepper steak, steak pieces were spongy, the seseame seed chicken was the same. Was very disappointed, the crab cheese ragoons were actually the best part of the meal. The bill was dinner like just after 3pm when my daughter and I got the bill it was 36.00 dollars for that not good food I wanted to cry really we could have ate better at so many other places than that for the money I will never eat there again. read more

The food was great but the service sucked. Never was offered a refill. Plus they sata group of people next to us that literally smelled like butt and b.o. made us sick so we couldnt even finish our dinner. Have so respect for ur earlier customers and sit them away from people or just be honest and refuse them service. The smell was outrageous. It wasnt like the waitress didnt notice. Made my 13 yr old son get physically sick. Ill never go here again if this happens again. So frustrated and disappointed. What a waste of my dinner and funds. read more

Typical asian buffet. There was definitely a lot of chicken choices. Couldn't find the rice at first because it sits in the rice cooker with two options: fried or white rice. Tried a little bit of everything, which was good, but I really liked the honey chicken; coconut shrimp; beef tenderloin; broccoli; saucey mushrooms; and shrimp with cocktail sauce. And of course you gotta end your lunch with some superman icecream, ignoring the fact that I'm lactose intolerant. It was well worth it! read more

third and final time eating there! we' ve always thought they were way overpriced for the selection of food. last time, we were there, the food was warm at best. the only way to get something hot was to grab food from the bottom of the pan. if you're ever in dayton oh and want to try a really good chinese buttet stop by the asian buffet on miller lane. read more

Great place for food near campus! The egg rolls were very crunchy. The servers are very nice as well and checked on us frequently.

Low quality food, very limited options - especially considering it's a buffet - and overly expensive. We had two adults and a 14-year-old, and our bill was over $50. We ordered waters and the buffet for each of us, and it was over $50. Wow. I'll give credit where credit is due and say that the employees were kind, but that's about the only good thing I can think of for the place. read more

Grossness and nastiness at it's finest So expensive, service sucks, food isn't impressive, (just typical "Chinese" deep fried buffet) read more

Poor buffet selection. No shrimp or beef in Mongolian BBQ line. Staff shut down grill early and took it to the back to finish. Gross film on soup was disgusting. Bottom drawer sushi. The worst restaurant I've been to in years. All for $14, and $2 for a drink! Such a bargain... Avoid this place and go to Taco Bell. read more

The food was average but we only received one 2oz container of sweet n sour sauce with our meal. Definitely not enough sauce for the entire meal. Especially for the price we paid! read more

Swung off the highway to grab a quick lunch to go. The General's chicken had a really great flavor, the vegetable lo mein was good (I actually, oddly, like less vegetables in my lo mein), and the S&S chicken was good...normal. So, we would stop in again! A little pricey though, I thought. Small lo mein, small S&S chx and the generals for $22. But still, much better than stopping at McDonald's! read more

I love this Chinese Buffet place. They have dessert/fruit table, sald table, 2 tables of hot stuff, PLUS a places where you can get Mongolian bbq made right there to order and all the Sushi you can eat! Pretty cheap prices for all of this, and the waitstaff is great! read more

We stopped here on Christmas Day after a ski trip with a big group. They were super attentive, gave us our own area and when we told them about having vegetarians in our group, they offer to prepare veggie sushi rolls. Food was good, place was packed! I think the locals are very aware of this place read more

I had lunch here on the way back home in TC. There were many food choices but mostly typical chinese buffet. It is better than one in Traverse City anyway :) I would recommend for quick lunch [once in awhile though not for every week lunch]. read more

This is your typical asian buffet. Nothing too grand or over the top. Has a good number of options to choose from for your entrees as well as for sides and deserts. You can also order to go straight from the menu or you can take a to go box to the buffet and fill it up. I never leave here hungry. Servers are all sweet too. read more

Worst Chinese buffet we have been too. The hot food was no where near the temp it should've been for food safety. The sushi was cut into huge pieces and rice was hard. Waitress was friendly and attentive. read more

Stopped in for diner and for the size of the restaurant the selection was great. Sushi was some of the best that I've had at a buffet. Hibachi is a great option too. Overall this is a really good buffet, I would definitely come back. read more

Didn't care for that place. Food on buffet was dried out, not all but most. I gave one star because my diet Pepsi was good! :/

This is your standard Chinese buffet. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want Chinese this is pretty much the only place in town. They do have a Mongolian grill that's good. Every time we've been here it has a good number of customers. read more

I love Chinese food and often stop at Chinese buffet. This is one of the best. Their sushi is great and the sezchuan fish is just great. Some of the choices are just OK but all in all very good. They should update the restaurant. read more

Excellent selection of hot and cold items as well as the grill section where you can pick your own dish and have it made fresh. Service is ok, friendly but a bit slow with drink refill and bringing the bill. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars based on just the food. read more

The buffet isn't the greatest. It's always dried out, and overpriced. However, if you order off of the menu, it's decent! Their sushi isn't bad but they never have eel even though it's on the menu. Would be 2 stars, but the waiter that we usually get is very nice. read more

Risky eating! The majority of items available, even at peak hours are too far below the correct temp. Tried them twice, no improvement won't go back. i think the health dept needs to make an unscheduled visit. read more
