Tried this local diner for lunch. The inside is tired, my booth seat would rock anytime the diner on the other side would shift their weight. Menu on their website is out of date. Decided on the Cod basket, 2 pieces of thin pieces of Cod, French fries and choice of side, either macaroni salad or applesauce. The macaroni salad seemed to be from a place like GFS, I didn't care for it. I had requested fries well done, they weren't. But for $9.99, it was reasonably priced. read more

I have went to the restaurant through the years. I hadn't been there for a few years and decided to go for breakfast. There were a couple ladies sitting at their counter that seemed to be there visiting with the waitress. They repeatedly played videos on their phone on max volume with nothing being said. The food was a let down. I ordered loaded hashbrowns that were $10. the portion was about what you'd receive as a side. the ham was lunch meat and had no flavor and my toast was completely burnt. not just overdone, it was black. my fiance ordered eggs over medium. they were not even over easy. the whites were completely runny. The bacon was nearly raw. The restaurant wasn't clean but the bathroom was downright horrifying. The space between the tank and the lid was filthy. I've used cleaner out houses. I will never go again and would advise no one else does either. GROSS,GROSS,GROSS! I would give zero stars, if I could. read more

The staff was very friendly; however, the cleanliness of the place made me wonder if the food would be safe to eat. After an hour wait i recieved my burger. It was good but very small and the fries, unbeknownst to me costed extra. The experience would've likely been much better if they had more staff and made an effort to clean the place up. read more

In their favor, our waitress was lovely. We both had the black and blue burger, canned mushrooms, sad buns. Fries were hot but pale. Inside is terribly rundown with non-functioning ice cream case. Not a lot of energy going into keeping it up. Not much else in town that we could see. Keep driving. read more

Service was good, food was mediocre at best. We tried the buffet. Eggs were not real eggs, but those runny, pretend eggs and I had to put salt on them for any kind of taste. Hash browns were really plain, and only edible with lots of ketchup. read more

Service was horrible. The bathrooms stunk, bad. Both of them, so I knew I wasn't following someone. It took more than 20 minutes to get a soda. We ordered soup, an appetizer then a meal each. Our meals showed up minutes after the soda, then the appetizer, then the server wanted to bring the soup, and wanted to clear room, immediately. The kids ordered burgers, and my husband a hot beef sandwich with ground beef. All made with a frozen meat patty that was flavorless. My sandwich was the Salley Stacker, yet they barely grilled it, so the bread absorbed into mush and I needed a fork and kinife. Sally's Family Restaurant, also known as What Ta Pizza in White Cloud, MI., has NOT CLOSED. I just posted pics of my visit there on 4/20/17, showing the location OPEN on 103 N. Charles St. (off M-37). It's now been a week since I reported Sally's Family Restaurant as OPEN to Yelp, and they have done nothing but give me the runaround. Meanwhile, whenever my family and I are within 30 miles of Sally's Family Restaurant, this the place where we go to get really good food and friendly service. I first visited Sally's in 2016., My family told me they were taking me to a restaurant known for it's good, homestyle cooking. When we pulled into the parking lot, I wasn't sure what to think. It looked like a bar. Well, there is a bar, plus a lot more,... because Sally's Family Restaurant, What Ta Pizza, Carol's Ice Cream Corner, and Trail Town Tavern are all part of the same enterprise.. When we walked in, everyone in the room turned to see who walked in the door. It's kind of like the local Cheers of White Cloud. There's no way you will ever sneak in the front door. From a distance, we could not see the salad bar very well There was a small crowd gathered around it. Upon closer inspection, I was delightfully surprised. The ingredients were impeccably fresh. Furthermore, instead of just lettuce, toppings and dressing, there were a number of house-made creations made with care and attention to flavor (fresh chicken salad, broccoli and bacon salad, rotini pasta salad, coleslaw, red skin potato salad, tuna noodle salad, etc.. Not salty, overly sweet, or mushy. Unfortunately, I was not able to taste them all. Those I did taste were delicious. (see pics) In subsequent visits, the food has been consistent, and the wait staff friendly, The soups and in-house salads do vary, so there's always something new to try. The soups are delicious and house-made (see pics), including flavorful broth, lots of meat, vegetables and sometimes pasta. Definitly NOT from a can or over-salted. We've enjoyed a number of dishes.. steaks, chicken fried steak, burgers, etc. We have yet to have a bad meal there. The hash browns, which are usually so disappointing and anemic looking at other places, are always well browned on the outside and creamy in the middle. Today I ordered the 1/4 lb. olive burger, which comes with chips. However, all their burgers also come in a 1/2 pound size. And, if you wish, you can make it a basket where it comes with fries and coleslaw. Another family member ordered 1/4 lb. cheeseburger, and like myself, opted for the soup and salad bar,(see pics). Yet another opted for the Chicken Fried steak, which comes with country gravy, a choice of potato, green beans, warm Texas Toast, and dessert.(see pics) I've had it before. The steak always crispy and tender. I think one of the hallmarks of a good restaurant is their attention to detail. They use fresh green beans, not canned. While some other restaurants use fresh green beans, they usually turn out leathery, underdone, or mushy. However, the green beans here are always vibrant green and tender. They even brew their own root beer. In addition to meals, snacks and pizza, they're also known for their baked goods and desserts. Those who come for breakfast (served all day) find, big, cinnamon rolls made fresh in-house, as well as pumpkin bread. During strawberry season, they also serve big helpings of fresh strawberry shortcake. However, in addition to the house-made desserts, the restaurant is ALSO home to Carol's Ice Cream Corner. Today, for dessert, we all opted for a delicious chocolate ice cream mixed with Oreo Cookies and creamy fudge candy. DELISH! While we have not tried their pizza's... yet... other customers have, and they look great.. Bottom line, they have delicious food at an affordable price. The staff treats even strangers like family. That's why we're willing to drive the extra miles to go there. read more

It was very disappointing. They had their buffet on Saturday night, I asked for the chicken dinner off the menu because the buffets always have too much food for me. I was told they were out of the chicken dinners. Never did the waitress offer that the chicken was on the buffet. I got the Salisbury steak which was good. But found out from my husband that they had chicken on the buffet. We saw the waitress a total of 4 times- when we got there, take our menu, bring the food, then the check. Not friendly at all, but more than willing to say how busy they are in back. I did see other waitresses take time and talk to friends. Would I go here again? NO! I would also suggest not going to anyone who wants a friendly place to have a meal. If they know you, they are friendly, if not it is like give us your money and get out of here, we are busy. read more

Stopped at Sally's while we were driving through the area. Was happy to find a real restaurant and not another fast food place along the way. Was almost concerned when I saw how low the prices were but I was pleasantly surprised! I got the salad bar and it was a pretty incredible bang for your buck. They even had some soups as part of the deal and I opted for the Chicken Noodle which was really good. We were told that the baked goods were all made in house so we grabbed a loaf of the pumpkin bread for the road and I have to say, that was such a winner, we actually picked up another loaf on the way home. Food is very greasy and the burgers/meatloaf have no flavor. The best item is the instant mashed potatoes and canned gravy.

I have enjoyed dining at Sallys for years ! Great food , friendly staff. they have a great salad bar as well as weekend breakfast buffets . Never had a gourmet chicken nugget. Nuggets are nuggets. read more

We actually were yelled at by a server this summer when we bought ice cream for a little league team. The kids were taking too long to order. They had to stay open 5 minutes longer so we were give a "pep talk" by the manager. Will not be going back...sorry. read more
