my family and i have been going to this buffet for years and i finally decided to review it :) the food is always so great, im very picky but somehow find a way to like things there. its very beautiful in there but i realized that the toilets are very sad. they smell really bad and it doesnt look the cleanest. but i have never been mistreated by a worker once ! just about every time we go there my family and i get complimented by this one woman but i dont know her name. she is so sweet and such a nice girl! read more

Foods such as fried rice, Lo mein, General Tso's chicken, egg rolls, and batter fried sweet and sour chicken plentiful and fresh. I can no longer eat General Tso's from the buffet the MSG makes me feel ill and gives me s head ache. If the place is empty or has less than ten tables occupied, order from the menu. Today's buffet items limited, several empty trays that weren't refilled during our 38 minute dinner. We were rushed to leave, the cashier gave us our check 35 minutes after we sat down. No white rice, chicken wings dry and hard, steamed broccoli old and dry the cheese had baked hard and the bottom was black. Buffet food quality has decreased since we first started eating here in 2003. Recipes changed using cheaper ingredients that negatively affect the flavor of food for example, black peeper chicken now has green peppers in it instead of zucchini. No more spring rolls, no crab legs, no orange chicken, fried dumplings, fried fish, fresh saffron fried chicken, bacon wrapped imitation crap, spicy shrimp, sushi, spicy chicken, egg foo young, garlic chicken, or fried duck. Feeding a family of five with two appetizers costs $65, only saving grace is the menu food is better than the buffet (although sometimes it comes from the buffet) and we get two meals out of one order. read more

My husband and I went to China Buffet next to Ollie's today for lunch. Everything was fine until a cockroach ran across the table. We both just looked at each other in disbelief and got up as fast as we could. We told the lady at the front what happened and she said, since we both ate a plate of food, we still had to pay. We were in Lancaster while we were working on our Hideaway Hills house and needed a lot of lunch in a hurry. We stopped here because of the good Yelp reviews I pulled up on my smart phone. As usual, Yelpers don't steer you wrong. We live in South Jersey and believe me, we know Chinese buffets. China Buffet was very, very good. I was very surprised to find this level of Chinese buffet food in a little Ohio town. Was it gourmet Chinese food -- no, but was it fresh and well prepared Chinese food in a buffet setting -- yes. Love to eat here. Overall the the food is very good and the atmosphere is pretty much in line with what you'd expect from a buffet in a strip mall. My wife doesn't like to eat here too often since they've had some health department write ups in the newspaper. I'm not too concerned about that though since it's always seemed clean inside. I love Chinese buffets. I don't have super high standards from a buffet, since well, it is a buffet. Even though I live in Lancaster, I travel out of town to get my buffet fix. Here are the main reasons why: - The staff is very rude. The server never smiles, and you get the impression she would rather not help you out. She just stops showing up after a while if you have been their too long by her standards. - They take forever to restock the higher quality dishes. Their coconut shrimp tastes pretty good, and I waited over a half-hour for it to be replaced, but it never happened. The same happened with the crab dish. - The food is pretty greasy and just seems lower quality than other buffets. The price is normal for a buffet. I *want* to like this buffet since it is close, but the ones in Circleville and Canal Winchester are much better, and much friendlier. Every so often I will try it again, and I am disappointed. read more

Food ok not the the best I've ever had (Hong Kong express in Pittsburgh is the best) however its ok when you need your fix. This time as before in past trips the service was non existent we never saw our "waitress" the entire time our dirty plates were never removed from the table not offered any refills didn't even get the bill until after we got up and went to the cashier then she finally appeared with the bill... the final straw (and I've had this happen a couple times in the past) I paid my bill with cash and was short changed $1. It doesn't seem like much but when you leave a tip at the table or in this case nothing at all because the help was no where around and did nothing to deserve even a dime and they just help themselves there is a problem... I decided this is the last time we give them any business I will drive to canal or columbus for my Chinese buffet fix... please be aware if you go here and you pay cash at the cashier or even if the "waitress" takes your bill count you r change (I've had it happen at the table too) also watch your charge statements if you pay by credit I have had an extra $5 added as a tip I didn't authorize and when I called to complain they just played dumb and said it didn't happen and argued with me that I must have ok' d it or they wouldn't have taken it. Not the best decor, but the best Asian buffet I've been to in a while. Food was hot, had distinct flavors, and wasn't overly sugared. Good variety of items and a step above many other buffets of this type in taste. For example, the sweet and sour sauce had a few pineapple floating in it and you could actually taste a hint of pineapple juice, whereas many other buffets it's just sugar/sweet and cornstarch that comes through. China Buffet is a great Chinese restaurant in Lancaster. It may be a buffet, but they offer a very nice variety of Chinese food. I took my friend who lives in Hong Kong there, and she said it was pretty good. I trust her opinion since she was eating stuff that I have never even thought of trying or looked at! Crab legs are served with dinner, there is always an ice cream machine with sprinkles etc for those of you with a sweet tooth. Appetizers, main courses, sides, desserts and more! Its a no frills, run of the mill, standard Chinese Buffet. The restaurant itself is old and kinda run down looking, but my waitress was attentive and kept my drink full. I say a good 3.5-4 stars. The place looks a bit dingy on the outside. Their sign could use a little TLC. Inside is decent, I've seen better but when you're in Lancaster and everything is old, I guess you get used to it. The food was good, everything seemed fresh and the egg drop soup (which was very good by the way) was delicious. Typical standard buffet dishes but they had fresh oysters. That's a first for me. I have went to this China buffet for many years and have always had great service. But the last couple of times I've been there the service and food have been awful. Mainly due to one waitress. She pretends to not know english. Doesn't even give us a chance to sit down at our table before asking what we want to drink. Then while were getting our food she sets the drinks on the table and were left guessing which drink belongs to whom. Then when it comes to the bill she always complains about the tip in her language to the other staff. What really made me mad was when we were leaving and she charged around me and my family and about knocked my wife over. Really I left you a tip, your lucky you got a tip. The service sucked, the food sucked, and the waitress was rude. We're never going back to this china buffet again. I'd rather spend my hard earned money at a good restaurant. read more

Poor service, the "waitress" never spoke or smiled, acted disgusted when we ordered water to drink and practically threw the check on the table without speaking. ALL of the food was room temp or cold. Hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour. Egg roll was cold, greasy, and soggy. Frog legs were cold and chewy. Mussels had obviously been out for a very long time and seemed zombified. We have eaten here a lot and the food is hit or miss. This past time was one of the worst experiences my family has ever had as far as ordering take out. My wife went in and picked up our order. When we had got home we found that part of our order was missing, She called and talked to Tom and he said he would replace the egg roll we were missing the next time we came in. Then my wife starts to plate the food up, and noticed the "onions and green peppers" in the beef lo mein as ordered. My wife brings my food to me and when i'm eating it, I notice how dry the war su gai is "hardly edible" and the noodles are extremely overcooked and very displeasing! No b.s. , even the fortune cookies were stale (like biting into cardboard). So my wife calls them back because by now, "enough is enough". So my wife calls back, because remember now we have been here A LOT and ordered out here, a lot and know the people there, we thought. So she calls and says she just called about the egg roll and that we had another issue. The Beef Lo Mein has green peppers and onions in it. And mushrooms. He starts in that there aren't any mushrooms in the beef lo mein. She tells him she can bring it back if he doesn't believe her, but that there isn't any reason to lie to him...we order hear all the time!! He says well there isn't any onions in the dish, there's cabbage and you didn't order it without cabbage!! So we're okay now, right. We're good here, he says. He says "Because that's what you people like to do...get free food, right!! Then he hung up on her. She called back and told "Tom" that they've lost a customer! This Tom guy needs to be fired if this is how he is running someones business and treating "good paying" customers!! The only reason this place gets any good reviews at all is because they are only 2 places in Lancaster, and the other place uses spaghetti noodles as their egg noodles, and they probably have not had the benefit of speaking with Tom. I spent 68.00 so that my entire family could come home an hour later complaining of stomach pain and diarrhea. My 7 year old feels like he could vomit. My husband and I first went here when I was pregnant and we still go and our daughter is now 2. They treat us like family because they have watched our daughter grow thus far. They are very friendly and always so nice. I believe they keep the food fresh and like another post said they do have desserts for the sweet tooth. But being waited on by them before, they'll let ya sit without taking your plates and not bring your drinks for a bit, BUT the don't have bad attitudes. However this "Tom" guy is not a nice person, AT ALL! My family eats at the China Buffet regularly. We ordered Beef Lo Mein, and egg roll, and War su gai. The war su gai was horribly over cooked. The chicken was inedible! The beef lo mein was very over done, the noodles were not good. i ordered this dish without onions and green peppers because that how I have "IN THE PAST" ALWAYS ordered my dish like. No onions and G.Peppers. I go pick it up and get it home to find, no egg roll. I call and talk to Tom, he says "what do you want me to do about it," I say I dont know because I cant come back tonight. He says he'll replace it. Okay, great, thanks. I then go to plate the dishes, noticing the chicken was so over done and the beef lo mein has onions and green peppers in it. So I call back because enough was enough. Tom answers and I remind him of who I am. He gets IRATE with me, starts talking fast. I say there were even mushrooms in the dish. He declares there's "no mushrooms" even in that dish, arguing with me! When i'm looking right at them. He talk to the cook with me listening and says i'm sorry, there are mushrooms, and you didn't say you didn't want those. He also says that the "onions and g.peppers" that I have always said I didn't want in the dish, and then it would come without these things, he informs me that this is "cabbage". And then reminds me I never said I didn't want cabbage. Then says "Are we good here". I tell him i'm very upset, I order here all the time and am a loyal customer. I say i want to know when the owner would be in. "He's on vacation" So In ask when he will be back......."In july" he says. I say well great, thats tomorrow!! I tell him I am never coming back there, he has lost a good customer, because we do have 8 kids. So we always placed big orders, and he made no bones about it, he didn't care. Just left..Will NOT be back! How rude, my daughter and I took an 9,8 and 2 year old. The 8 year old did not eat, took a sip of water and laid across 2 chairs with an upset stomach. They charged us for 4 adult meals. While my daughter was trying to get the bill straight with the cashier, the waitress was yelling (Asian) from across the room about the bill. Then the cashier was arguing that all 6 people ate, and they were already giving us a discount for the 2 year old. After several other customers came up and confirmed that the 8 year old did not eat or move from her chair she finally adjusted the bill (took 25 minutes of ineligible yelling). Even when the cashier explained to the waitress (or at least I assume that what she was doing in the Asian language) the waitress continued to rant and yell over the ordeal from across the restaurant. Not only was the service bad, but the food was less then desirable as well. Most of it you could tell had been sitting on the bar all day long if not from the day before bring dried out and stuck to the pans (the crab meat was sooo overcooked and left out for so long that it literally bounced like a rubber ball) At first I was a little embarrassed about the 8 year old laying down, but I was mortified at how the waitress acted.
