We come to this location one or two times a week with anywhere from 2 to 4 people with us. The last…read moretwo times I've been to visit my food has been extremely cold. When I was there tonight, we had to send back our soup immediately because it was cold. My husband's chicken and shrimp was cold. When the waitress came over to my table to bring my food, I told her I wanted to check the temperature of my food because his food was cold. I was able to stick my finger directly into the rice because it was almost cold. Vegetables were cold,. General tso's chicken was piping hot and great. I told the young lady after she suggested taking the food back not to worry about it that we just may have to stop coming. She then responded, "Well y'all just do that." So then a manager came over and said can I get y'all a refund or get anything for y'all. I told her that our food has been cold the last couple of times and that that young lady had been a smart ass to us about it, my exact words and the only time a profane word was said.. The manager then said loudly... whoa whoa you're not gonna talk to my employee that way... What??? Then telling me I wasn't going to talk to a minor like that... again, WHAT?? The minor is the one who said something out of the way, not me. The manager did not hear what she said to us. The minor didn't hear me say the word ass. Please pull the cameras WITH audio. I would like for you to see the confusion on my face when she said that to me and what was really said. I never once said anything out of the way to that team member. As the manager was approaching the table, I was doing a Google review so she also proceeded to say that she would have it flagged and removed. I said why, it's true? She then proceeded to say that she would get a no trespass against us... all because the food was cold, wouldn't take ownership, and created an unnecessary scene. Mind you, a meal for 2 tonight was $40. When we bring 4 people we pay $60-$70 to eat here. The fact that they cannot take ownership in their mistakes is ridiculous. I never mistreated anyone. 4 visits ago we got cold rice and chicken so they replaced it with what my mother-in-law wanted instead. Unfortunately, the low mein that they gave her did not taste very good so she ended up not eating at all. We never asked for any type of refund. Then how about tonight when one of the girls spilled soup on our table and the floor beside us and almost spilled it on my husband and we didn't complain? Last Saturday morning, we showed up before 11 AM to eat at open. No sign saying that you now open at 11:30 AM. The gentleman waited until 11 AM when we were getting out of the vehicle to walk out to tell us that y'all no longer open until 11:30 AM on Saturday mornings and posted the sign as we were standing there at 11am. He posted it behind a wreath so that you couldn't even see it, but I did see tonight that they had moved it to a visible spot so hopefully that doesn't happen to anyone else like it did us. We didn't complain and we still came back. We started coming to this location instead of Dalton because of the quality of food. My husband said last time we came that they were getting to be not good anymore, but we still gave it another shot tonight. Please pull the cameras and the audio so that the team can be properly reprimanded for the way they treated us for giving them feedback on our cold food. They voided our transaction to issue us a refund, and we will not be back. The satisfaction in her voice when she brought me boxes and a bag, like she was proud of herself made it obvious that she doesn't realize that what she did was absurd. My husband never said a word until he was fed up with the way the manager was treating us. She said she would call the law for trespassing on him because he said "I'm done" and walked out.. WHAT??? Your staff is treating this job as their playground. My husband said this is the worst he's ever been treated and has never been so humiliated in his life. Your staff tonight was disrespectful and will continue to lose you business.

You order your food at the front register and they bring it to your table. The servers check on you throughout your meal to ensure you have everything you need. I ordered the baby back ribs, mac & cheese and collard greens. The ribs were outstanding! Well seasoned and smoked, very meaty. I'm a sauce guy, but these ribs are so good I ate them as they came. The mac & cheese was very good, but like all mac & cheeses, it needed a little salt, and the greens are some of the best I've ever eaten. The food is absolutely amazing here, but what makes this place shine is that everyone working there genuinely wants you to enjoy your food, and make it a point to let you know they are glad you are there. Everyone seems happy to work there. The owners came out to check on the quality of the food and service, and thanked us for supporting their business. That goes a long way with me. A friend of mine asked me the other day if it was better than Wardlaw's Lucky Eye Q, and it absolutely is better. That's not a dig at all to Wardlaw's, as they have great food. Since this visit, I've driven the 53 minutes back down twice and I would drive two hours just to eat here- it's that good! I've now had their brisket (best I've ever eaten) their baked beans (delicious) and their banana pudding. Everything they serve is over the top good. Get to this establishment- you'll be glad you did!

On the road, looking for barbecue, checked out the reviews and menu of the #1 Rated place around…read moreme...Thatcher's. Driving up, it looked pretty darn perfect. It was a cute little small restaurant located far away from everything, and across from a small RV campground. The setting screamed, "come get yo-self some good barbecue." There are certain things that I consistently order even if I know I don't need, and cheese curds are one of them. There's were banging, with a great salsa ranch sauce. Once again, I found myself at a crossroads... Order some crazy 3000 calorie concoction, or play it straight and just get simple barbecue. I opted for the smoked meat platter with chopped pork, chicken, and sliced brisket. As if that wasn't enough, I also received three sides. Three huge sides, not the little Mac-n-cheese in a cup I got a few days earlier. The brisket: it looked a little dry, but it was not. It was very smoky. The darkness was from the smoke. They use Hickory wood. It was a tad salty, but overall really great. If I were to go back, I would only order the brisket. The pulled pork: tasty, but on the dry side. The chicken: less tasty, and drier. I don't really know what to make of the pork and the chicken. It might just be a regional difference in how barbecue is prepared? The second you start cutting into cooked meat, the juices run out and things start drying up. Anytime I smoke a pork roast, I immediately pour back all of the juices that were rendered out of the meat and into the foil from being wrapped back into the shredded pork so everything is moist. Even if it is too moist, it is still a good experience. I kind of think dry pulled pork is pretty inexcusable. And with chicken? I have no idea.lol. I always brine the chicken for a long time before I smoke it, and then it served as a breast to slice into. Anyway, I would say no to the chicken, unless the plan is to sauce it up. Speaking of sauces, they gave you three completely different flavors, which I love. And they aren't in a cup, so you won't run out. For the sides... A thick slab of Texas toast. Way better than the puny bread slices I received a couple days ago at the other joint. Solid mac & cheese. You know this was homemade, because the cheese sauce had that somewhat gritty texture. No judgment here, I stopped making homemade mac & cheese myself because I could never get the consistency right. I think it is because the cheese use is either pre-shredded, or it's not stirred in slow enough... Fried green tomatoes - not my thing, but I guess they were good. I had to try out to see what all the fuss was about. The waitress, who was super charming and sweet, recommended the sweet potato tater tots. These were placed in front of me, which made the entire lunch smell like sweet, sugary cinnamon. They were pretty fantastic. I would definitely recommend these when side hunting. Overall, if I was in the area or passing through, I would for sure go back. A lot of their salads and sandwiches and tater tot recipes looked pretty wild. Skip breakfast and lunch and use all of your calories for one meal here. Prices and portions were on point. I didn't even make it through half my meal. If I was far away, I would probably not go super far out of my way to hit this place. But then again, after a couple other places recently...I might just make that drive and enjoy me some more of this cute little place.
