Well, all the reviews were positive and it had 4.5 stars, but not sure how. They have an inexpensive buffet, but we ordered off the menu. Coffee was good. Small Juice was large in size. Cheese omelet was 'odd.' Biscuits were just ok. Didn't like the flavor of the gravy. Waitress was sweet and friendly. Place is cute. If you're with a child who likes trains--stop in. Great news if you're unaware. They have brought back the lunch buffet. They also have a breakfast buffet, but I've not tried it. The lunch buffet, $12.99, all you can eat, is excellent. The service was wonderful and so fast! Our waitress was very kind and attentive. It appears to be a small, family owned establishment, which I love. The food was 10/10. My husband and I each got an omelet (mine was veggie and his was the ham and cheese) both were excellent. The omelets came with sides of biscuits and gravy! Very affordable too! Sorry to say but lowered the 5!star to a One Star. They changed owners and discontinued Friday Fish Fry buffet and weekday lunch buffets. Prices went way up! While were there for lunch and 30 + customers walked in and turned around and walked out when the buffet was gone and saw the prices on the menu board. We stayed and ordered off menu to give the owners a try. The waitress place my ordered in front of me. I notice I didn't get tater tots but was hungry so didn't say anything. The waitress came over and ask if I didn't touch it , I said no not yet. She took my plate and said give her a minute ??!! She went in the kitchen for a couple of seconds and came back still holding my plate and served it to the man sitting at the table next to us. About 5 minutes later she came out with a new plate with my tater tots. I asked her why she serve my plate to this gentlemen and she just shrugged her shoulders. I then stated that is against health codes. The food quality changed and was ok but not the usual delicious...sad. When checking out the same waitress was running the cash registered and then handle food without washing her hands. She was not wearing gloves. Obviously we won't be back and would not recommend this cafe. read more

We've visited three times, eaten twice. Food was pretty good, wait staff meh, especially inattentive if you are seated in the corner. Did not stay today because, while we arrived at 10:20, there were no menus on the table and none given when the waitress took our drink order. We grabbed menus off a nearby table and were ready, but she did not return to take our order until 10:33. At that point, our breakfast order was denied because it was after 10:30. Loved this place! Had the buffet and a piece of walnut pie...with ice cream! It's like eating at your grandmother's house. Great southern cooking at VERY reasonable prices. I normally hate liver in any form....this fiod was so good that I even took 1 chicken liver and put it on my plate... It was awesome....for a chicken liver : ) My main meat off the buffet was brisket and it was tender and tastey. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. This place was filled with locals....which is always the best clue that you are eating at the right place. I WILL be back. read more

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning since just about everything else in the area was closed. Had an amazing breakfast at an incredibly low price. Coming from a small town originally, I always love to find the cozy local spots that aren't out to gouge you with their prices, and this is definitely one of those. The establishment (including restrooms) was clean and the food was great! I ordered hamburger steak and mashed potatoes. The hamburger steak came with gravy and was great. If you're looking for a tiny country diner with all the basics, some good fried chicken, and homemade desserts, this one is for you. Super-small, nice service, down home country place. You can tell the locals love it because it was packed by the time we left. There was a little buffet with a salad bar and a selection of 'meat and three' type food including the fried chicken ( which we didn't try but everybody was raving about.) We ordered off the menu, all four of us got cheeseburgers and crinkle fries because that's what we were in the mood for. read more

I have being going to the Depot since I was a little kid. They have shut down and burned down, but their food has remained consistently incredible. If you're looking for a great place to eat on Monteagle Mountain, avoid Mountain Goat and head straight to the Depot. You will not be disappointed. This is our favorite spot in town. Friendly service, great food and a clean atmosphere. Dave says the club sandwich is the best he's ever had in the whole country. I'm partial to their bacon burger, philly sandwich, and tater tots. To top it all off everything is a great value. Don't miss the homemade pies and cakes. Yum! read more

Just stopped at the Depot Cafe. It's easy to miss so I'm glad to have found it on Yelp. I ordered the Veggie Omelet with toast and had Ice Tea. I have to say this was the best omelet I've had in a very long time. It was thin and perfectly cooked. Stuffed with peppers, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms. The toast was good and not pre-buttered. It was served with butter and jelly. The Ice Tea was fresh brewed and was very good. The server was as nice as she could be. Will definitely return if we pass through the area again. read more
