It's been quite some time since I reviewed this little restaurant, now a few years later; I miss it. What a welcoming little establishment, always clean and well kept, the staff are friendly and always do a good job. The food is basic and I like that, nothing like a good old country cheeseburger to remind you of your homeland, and your freedom. Super cute Southern cafe with a wide variety of homemade Southern food. They offer sandwiches, salads, and family favorites like fried catfish, fried chicken, chicken fried steak and a huge assortment of sides like mashed potatoes, pickled beets, greens, and coleslaw. The cafe gives you the feeling that you've stepped back in time to have lunch at your local neighborhood cafe. Off the beaten path Southern Hospitality at it's finest with a staff that always has a smile. The menu has it's every day favorites along with a varied assortment of delicious entrees that changes daily so there is always something for everyone. The desert selection is ever changing with some everyday favorites as well with these deserts being made in house by the staff. One in particular is a German Chocolate Pie "not cake" made by Autumn that has got to be one of the best pies i have ever tasted, the only thing better would be her smile. The fudge pie with a scoop of ice cream would be a good choice as well. Stopped here thanks to my fellow yelpers! We had omelettes - western and navy and cheese, both delicious! We learned about the Caverns and look forward to coming back for some bluegrass music in the near future. A thoughtful little cafe that we were glad to find. Simply Southern is a homey, cute restaurant with generous plates of down home food. Their specials are on a chalkboard, and you get to select three sides from a long list of yummy items ranging from green beans, baked beans, coleslaw, pickled beets, cooked greens, cornbread and many more choices. I had the meatloaf which was very good. The chicken dinner with dressing looked delectable, and our friend who had it agreed it was delicious. They managed to handle a deluge of forty people from an area event and everyone ended up with hot good food in quite a timely fashion. read more

Extraordinary food!!!! I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. My husband got the cheesy porkchop casserole. Every single bite was exceptional. Even the fries were made from scratch. This place is worth leaving the interstate for a good meal with VERY affordable prices. Pecan pie was amazinnngg!! I don't like to give bad reviews, but I was so distressed leaving this place. When you walk in there is a very nice atmosphere. Beautiful country setting which is true to the name. In their defense we came in at 1pm and I guess they only cook so much. Every special was marked off the board except one. So I decided to order a burger instead. It took us 15 minutes and two different waitresses to get our drinks, never got silverware, had to ask twice for a napkin, and when we finally got a refill on drinks we were done eating. I heard "we're out of" at least 5 times, and to my advantage, they were "out of coins" as well so they gave me more money back than I should have gotten. There was only one other active table in the restaurant and they were having the same trouble as us getting what they needed. The food was tasty, but terrible service. I'm so sorry I usually love these gems in the middle of no where, but this would be a great place for a restaurant. read more
