We have stopped here many times when traveling North to visit family, but notice we have not written a review to let other travelers along Interstate 24 know what a delight this Waffle House location is. There is not much to enjoy about traveling on I 24 through Tennessee, so this is one of the bright spots to break up your trip. There is ample parking at this location, and it is directly off the exit ramp with super easy access to and from both Northbound and Southbound traffic on 24. I can't say we have ever had a poor Waffle House experience, but this is one of the top locations you will visit. Waffle House, in general, offers consistency at every location; you know what you are going to get, and you can depend on the service being decent. Food is cooked to order, served fresh and hot to your table, and always accurate. My wife has a dairy allergy, but we have not ever had to send anything back. Our server on Wednesday, November 22nd, was Judy, and despite non-stop busy crowds on the day before Thanksgiving, Judy was a delight and made us feel like the only people in the crowded restaurant. No wait for coffee refills and our food was served promptly and correctly, even with my wife's special request. We have been to many five-star dining establishments that have not delivered the level of service that Judy provided on our last visit. With as busy as this high-traffic location was, our table was clean and very comfortable. The entire restaurant was well-staffed and clean, including the bathrooms. It was a true team effort on each individual part to operate as smoothly and efficiently as this team did on probably one of the busiest travel days of the year. The service here was friendly, but the place smelled really bad. I'm not even sure how to describe it. It was just very off putting. It wasn't crowded, and we were able to order and get our food quickly. I ordered a waffle, eggs and toast, and my husband got the grilled chicken melt. He did not like the sandwich at all and said he would "highly suggest nobody order it". I enjoyed my waffle eggs and toast. Nothing fancy but for Waffle House it was the perfect late night fix. I'm from The North (washington state) and we only experienced The infamous Waffle House on a recent trip to Monteagle, TN - we had such great, friendly service and were stunned at their reasonable prices - that we're now total fans. My husband fell in love with their pecan waffles, I tried grits for the first time and we loved their side of country ham with our hearty breakfast. What was best was the service - the server was super friendly, and she patiently introduced us to their menu and kept our coffee cups full. The reason I gave this two stars is because I've eaten here before with decent service. The most recent time I stopped here, however, the service I reviewed was terrible. I walked in and proceeded to sit down at one of the open booths, after which one of the employees immediately told me they they only give the booths for two or more people and told me to move to the corner seat at a bar (Funnily enough, this rule didn't come up any other the other times I've been to this location). That alone would have been totally understandable, given that it was pretty busy, except that literally immediately afterwards he offered the same table to another lone guy. I then had to wait several minutes for anyone to notice that I was waiting, ordered, and ate. The food itself came reasonably fast, though the hostess was a bit neglecting, forgot several things like silverware and sugar, and never checked again to see if I needed anything l. The service did improve a bit though as time went on. After an excited 45 minute drive to get to this Waffle House and have a awesome breakfast, I was severely disappointed and felt somewhat neglected and insulted by the staff. I write this not to say that all Waffle Houses are terrible, I love Waffle House. I write this instead in hopes that the staff will take notice and take measures to improve their service. read more
