tough to say that this is the reason I posted my first yelp review... but here we are if you're looking for a decent Buffet this is not it... unappealing interior, food was unimpressive and went cold before I could take first bite, I said cold, poor heating elements, not fresh def DID NOT satisfy my Chinese buffet craving for the month. and if there's one thing we should have learned from the great flu outbreak of the 20s... don't take the customers cup away (they did) from the table for a refill! read more

I was in Cheyenne overnight and wanted to eat some rice and Asian food and heard that China Buffet had decent food. I came late in the afternoon and the place was already crowded. I asked for take out and was given a small cardboard take out container that was divided with 3 places for food. When I asked for take out, the guy at the counter handed me the container and told me "No steak!" What irritated me was that he watched me as I went through to get my food (the register is near the buffet line) as if I was going to try to sneak some steak into my plate. There was a good selection of food. I picked up a little of several items. Since I read the reviews, I added some General Tso's chicken. My mistake was that I saw some red jello in the salad bar and had a craving for jello, so added it to my plate. When I went to pay, the guy opened my container, just to make sure I didn't take steak. When I handed him the money, there was not a thank you or smile. When I got back to my hotel room, I opened the container and the jello had melted all over my food! I hardly ate anything, nothing really tasted good, except for the General Tso's chicken. Suggestion to the restaurant - offer a small container for jello or cold things. It can still fit inside the take out container, but would help to keep things from running together. If I do go back, I'll skip the jello and load up on the General Tso's chicken. read more

Avoid This Buffet - A Sad Excuse for Chinese Food I'm honestly struggling to find anything positive to say about my experience here. I've given buffets the benefit of the doubt before, but "China Buffet" was a new low. The entire meal felt like a lesson in disappointment. Let's start with the food quality, or lack thereof. Nothing tasted fresh. The eggrolls were limp and soggy, like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The sweet and sour chicken and other fried items had completely lost their crunch, becoming a chewy, greasy mess. It's a cardinal sin for fried food to be soggy at a buffet. The issues didn't stop there. Several of the hot dishes, like the lo mein and a beef stir-fry, were barely lukewarm. Even more concerning, some of the meat items, particularly the pepper steak, had an "off" taste that made me think they were old and had been sitting out far too long. I took one bite and left the rest on my plate. My advice to the owner is simple: Focus on quality and freshness over quantity. It doesn't matter how many dishes you have if none of them are appetizing. The staff should be constantly checking the buffet lines--stirring food, replenishing items with fresh batches, and most importantly, throwing away food that has been sitting out for hours. Just because the restaurant was slow during my visit doesn't mean it's acceptable to serve old, unappetizing food. I really wanted to like this place, but I won't be returning. Save your money and your stomach; there are much better options out there. One last thing, get rid of your ice cream freezer, it looks like that's where you put all the dead body parts. read more

Am going to offer two types of review for the reader - first if on a low carb regimen or diet such as keto - paleo or myself more a carb counter trying to keep within a 20-50 carb daily intake. Buffets may be counter intuitive with all the carb laden foods they offer, but this offers the opportunity to select in particular proteins and veggies to meet the goal. The second part will be more of a generic Chinese buffet with a few bites of the typical type of appetizers, soups and entrees offered though a small sample review on that level. Low Carb Review: No appetizers of note the salad bar was not appealing as no spinach as alternative to romaine lettuce and nothing other than hard boiled eggs which could have tried. Entrees: Home Chicken - absolutely fantastic - if you're not a pepper fan probably won't like it but am good with not over peppered and IMO this was not yet picked up the chicken flavor big time and no coating on the chicken that looked of a heavy carb challenge. Could eat a bucket of this stuff. BBQ Chicken - second favorite to Home Chicken protein - probably some level of carb challenge as not a rich BBQ sauce but am sure there's sugar in it on some level. Tangy yet oddly not a western BBQ flavor yet not Asian either but dang good - would eat again. Chicken & Broccoli - basic Panda Express level - not bad, not anything to get excited about either a bit heavier sauce than Panda Express which don't know how compares carbs wise but didn't have a sweet sugary flavor so assume it's not heavy carb laden - average at best. Steak & Onions - up there with the BBQ Chicken - the meat was am sure cheap as why wouldn't it be on a buffet line yet cooked low and slow as no hard chew at all and solid flavor and the onions were above average flavor - would eat this again. Pork Chop - the good news is close to the bone the meat is excellent flavor and charred a thin cut so easy to cut apart - the bad news away from the bone all fat and gristle and had to spit second bite into a paper napkin was so distasteful. Would I eat again, probably just cut off the part not around the bone and not charred. Fish - will combine both flounder & salmon as tried small pieces of both - the good news is not heavy carb laden as broiled and in a light sauce not a heavy coating or fried. The bad news - perfectly bland. Didn't try any of the carb laden seafood entrees. Veggies: My gawd won't say the Home Chicken wasn't my favorite but then again: Green Beans - un-freakin'-real - you won't get better flavor or quality at a steakhouse - crazy right. Freshly cut, sauteed perfectly and crisp. Mushrooms - fantastic - mixed them with chicken and off the charts good! Desserts - hard pass - it's a Chinese Buffet do you expect a pastry chef to show up and tempt you - nothing to see here. Generic Buffet eaters review: The goal was to take two bites from classic entrees and other items to determine if would eat as a carb eater. Appetizers - The goal was a misnomer here sadly - tried the fried cream cheese wonton - absolutely horrible one bite as the crispy shell was a fake out - inside was a sweet cream cheese that made me twitch sideways - that's not a fried cheese wonton as the cream cheese has to be neutral at worst and with a bit of sour tang at its best - no way no how eat this again or one bite in my case. Tried two bites of the eggroll or spring roll, veggie no pork or chicken a bit of a downer but hey, it was a bit better than Panda Express spring roll, and the crispy wrap was average at best as a bit gummy inside, but the veggies were quite good. Your basic spring roll from Chinese Buffets so okay. Hot & Sour soup - OMG thought the fried cream cheese wonton was bad - this was honestly the worst hot & sour soup have ever had in my life so that's quite an accomplishment of some sort. I cannot even describe the taste - zero tang or sour and the taste was a pulpy flavor of spam past expiration date laden with yeast culture separated from beer brewing and added to make a broth - just horrible. The sad part - the eye test gets you going as it looks like Hot & Sour soup - it ain't. Didn't try the egg drop soup but will on next visit and see if that's at least average so have a passable soup on the line. Entrees - tried a bite or two of lo mien, nothing to write home about and less than quality IMO of Panda Express. Did not test heavy carb fried dishes other than Mamal Chicken. Didn't try the rice. Mamal (sic) Chicken - the worst chicken dish by far that tried - literally spit one of the two bites tried into a napkin as always try two bites just to ensure first bite wasn't a one-off bad scene thing. This was bad, heavy carb coated with no flavor in coating and chicken barely could taste - hard pass. Overall, would I eat here again - are you kidding for $16 including a tip for a Monday Buffet Lunch - solid value and low carb eaters can feast! read more

Went in for take to drive it home an hour away! Walking in it smelled like Chinese Food Heaven!! I ordered my favorite, General Tso's Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice with an order of Egg Rolls (2) and it was ready for me in less than 10 minutes!! After driving home to Nebraska I was happy to see that most everything was still warm. After a small nuke in the wave it was excellent. Exactly as I remembered my favorite being, possibly better. These people know how to put a to go order together and the buffet looked incredible from where I was sitting, waiting for my order. This has to be the best Chinese Restaurant in Cheyenne. Fantastic service and the servers were able to work with us in multiple languages! They have a great atmosphere that is very family friendly! We saw the servers interacting with children in the restaurant in a very loving and playful way. The food was very good for a buffet. The buffet is awesome, and on Door Dash. I love their food n fill my stomach, n treat my family at a reasonable price.

First of all, service is always excellent here. They're very attentive and it really shows they value their customers. Second, the food is always the same and ALWAYS amazing! There's nothing here I wouldn't eat because it hits every time. As a child I'd come here and now as an adult taking my kids here from out of town, it's still fantastic. Last, I believe they remodeled and it looks great! It seems more open and lighter colors to be more updated. It never looked bad, but now it looks honestly more fancy! 100% recommend!! read more

I love Chinese Buffets. As far as Chinese Buffets go this restaurant is just so so. There's an okay selection of things to choose from. If you go to early after opening you'll have food that tastes like it was re-heated so don't go too early in the day. There's little change-up in what they offer but if you life some of the dishes that they regularly offer then this place is okay for an occasional meal. Food is pretty good! The best thing was the pork chops! Otherwise usual fan fair. What I really appreciated was that someone was always walking through the lanes stirring around the food as to not let anything get too stale. They would also write down what was needed so things weren't empty. Service is good. The server was always checking if we wanted refills and to take away our used plates. Better furniture than most. $35 bucks for two people, soda included! I would recommend this place if they were looking for some quick American Chinese food in Cheyenne. read more

Good, but not great although it has the ability to be fantastic! The food was good, but not great, seasonings are key to a dish being fantastic! If you serve fried fish, tarter sauce is a must, hot sauce also, neither could be found. The fish was cooked just right, fried or broiled! The Chinese food was bland, I'm not sure that even salt was used! I don't normally do bad reviews, but when a place as nice as this just doesn't go that extra step I have no choice. There's likely not much to say about a Chinese Buffet that most people don't already know. This restaurant has good options that differ depending on lunch or supper. Personally I was impressed the first time we went in at supper-time. The protein options are plentiful from steak to shrimp, and of course chicken and pork. They don't heavily bread their fried meats, which is nice. And there's typically at least three seafood options. The green beans also had crunch. It's worth saying that the staff is courteous and clean. They are constantly moving and bussing tables. I especially liked eavesdropping on a conversation a waiter and waitress had with a couple elderly ladies. They knew their kids and family goings-on. That sold it for me that this China Buffet is part of a community and not just a run-of-the-mill place. When you walk in, there's a tank near the entrance with some sizable goldfish. Kids really gravitate to it. That's cool. The fish do seem a bit crowded, but I'm no marine biologist... just a guy who says, "Ooo, pretty fish." Give it a try, and people-watch a bit. Take the whole family. Sneakily eat a pig-in-a-blanket off of your kid's plate. That's what's great about the buffet experience. read more

Why is the food here so bland? I've gone to this place twice, once on the weekend during lunch and another time on the weekday between lunch and dinner. Both times it was the exact same thing: bland, bland, bland. I've eaten at Chinese buffets all over the US (South Dakota, Mississippi, Texas, Florida) and this is by far the most boring Chinese food I've ever experienced. That being said, the staff is friendly, everything is clean, and they have a wide variety of dishes. So if you like bland Chinese-American dishes, this is definitely the place for you.
