It's ok. Huge portions, fresh food comes out often, nice staff. Family sized meals look good. The menu has lots of missing items and prices so you have to ask. They have cafeteria style Chinese fast food and Hawaiian style bbq but you can't have both together. The menu says that the bbq coming with macaroni and rice but it also comes on a bed of raw cabbage and the macaroni is 1 small scoop and 2 large scoops of rice. The macaroni salad needs salt and pepper. The cabbage should come steamed or fried and the menu should list it. The bbq is good. But if I could add a side of fried fish from the Hawaiian menu I would have but sides are not posted. I asked about the cost of a small side of Chinese food - it's $6, but again - it's not posted. It was my first time here and I ordered the 1 item(kung pao chicken) with rice and chow mein combo. The rice was perfect but the chow mein was cold, stale, tasted old, and was inedible because it was tough to chew through. If noodles can't be broken down then that's inedible. The zucchini or greens in the kung pao chicken tasted old. The actual chicken was decent! I liked the flavor but many parts had gross crunchy bits that can't be broken down. Plus it was also cold. I had the chicken katsu, it was crunchy which was nice, but I think the quality of meat inside was not the best, or it was from a pre-made chicken from the store. The meat was thin and looked dark brown and red compared to how the meat should look in Katsu- white. I'm sure the food is good! I had forgotten to write a review of my experience at China Bowl Restaurant in January 2025. I learned of this restaurant through Yelp and learned that it is located at the corner of John F. Kennedy and Perris Blvd. shopping center. I was really having taste for the Filipino food from Red Dragon Express at that shopping center. I went to the shopping center to find out more about the China Bowl Restaurant. It was on a mid-Sunday afternoon in January when I went. To my surprise, China Bowl Restaurant now occupies the former Red Dragon Express restaurant that I did not know closed in December 2024. Well, I decided to stay and order 2 take out Family Meals for 4 for me and my brother and a separate order for a mother and daughter (who were not with us). I ordered the Family Meal for 4 (3 Pint Any Meat Entree [I chose Orange Chicken Entree for both orders], 1 Quart Fried Rice , 1 Quart Chow Mein , 6 Egg Rolls , 1 Large Soup [I ordered Wor Wonton Soup (THE BEST!)], 4 Cans Soda. I placed the same order for both orders to make it easier for the cook. There was a young lady at the register who helped us place our orders, and there was an older man who worked in the kitchen. I think he did most of the cooking. Since me and my brother were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, it probably took a little over a half hour for us to receive our take out orders. I wanted to order enough food to last a few days. I did not know when I would be coming back to this restaurant again. So, I wanted to get enough food for another day. After dropping off the other order at our friend's house, we went home and started eating our food. The food was fabulous! When the lady at the counter asked what kind of soup that I wanted (they also had Egg Flower Soup besides Wor Wonton). I wanted Wor Wonton Soup because it usually has lots of meat and vegetables. Their Wor Wonton Soup did not disappoint! The soup base was very delicious with lots of meat, shrimp, and vegetables. I have not had Wor Wonton Soup in a long time, and this is definitely one of the best soups I have tasted. I highly recommend their Wor Wonton Soup! Their Orange Chicken was good also, but I was crazy over their soup. My brother did not feel like soup when we got home. So, I decided to eat much of it. This restaurant gives lots of food. The Family Meal for 4 would be ample for more than 4 people. Come to China Bowl Restaurant and discover all their fantastic food! read more
