I love Chinese food. Chicken and cashew nuts is one of my favorites. I ordered chicken fried rice, egg rolls, spring rolls, fried wontons and my favorite, chicken and cashew nuts. Everything I just named was horrible. The egg rolls wontons and spring rolls were chewy and almost empty. The chicken fried rice was the best but that just meant it was edible. The meat was odd. The chicken and cashew nuts were the most disappointing. It was mostly celery and green peppers. The meat was also odd. The flavor of the sauce was not the rich brown sauce I expected from this dish. I ordered take out, so I cannot comment on the ambience of the restaurant or the quality of the service. This is not my first time ordering from them, but it is my first time rating them. I ordered crab rangoon, General Tsos chicken, and Singapore Chow Mai Fun (with chicken). Crab Rangoon is my favorite appetizer, so I always order it from every Chinese place I eat at. Their crab rangoon was good and tasty--pretty standard fare. General Tsos chicken is my go-to order for Chinese food, and China 1's did not disappoint. The sauce was sharp and tangy, and the chicken was not dry or overcooked. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is that they gave me a little too much chicken fried rice. This was my first time trying Singaporean Chow Mai Fun. It was a heaping portion, loaded with a curry-like flavor. Very tasty, with a subtle hint of spice. Just ordered 2 different plates and both were extremely bland! The shrimp lo mein was not flavorful but there was a slight hint of shrimp flavor in the lobster sauce (also bland). Finally a Chinese restaurant that reminds me of what I know to be the standard. The orange chicken was divine. The flavor was perfect, the size of the chicken pieces was perfect, and the batter was perfect. The rice was so well made I almost cried. Finally the seasoned yellow fried rice that I remembered. Next time I will ask that the vegetable fried rice not include mushrooms or snow peas, but I still loved it. Not even noting that the rice had bean sprouts. Heavenly. The egg roll was good and the shrimp toast was decent. I probably wouldn't get the shrimp toast again. I will try the crab Rangoon and spring rolls next time. Also what is noteworthy is the price. Awful customer service, store cancelled Uber eats order. Placed order again as pick up, only for store personnel not o refuse and o make second order. Even after Uber Eats rep contacted the store. Owner was too proud to admit he made a mistake and refused a refund or service. Stealing money from the community. I suggest finding an honest restaurant with better customer service. read more

Over the last few orders, the food doesn't taste good. This past order I got the fried chicken wings, kung po chicken, shrimp and chicken fried rice. The fried rice was cold... the shrimp didn't taste fully cooked and the kung po chicken was everything but chicken. The last time I ordered before this one was the same with the kung po chicken. The fried chicken is okay but for $7 you only get 4 and sometimes they are tiny wings. Normally the delivery doesn't take long but for the past few orders it's been well over an hour wait. Our standard for Chinese isn't super high but this place was terrible. The egg drop soup tasted burnt/old and the shrimp fried rice was literally white rice with some shrimp (no veggies, egg, spices, etc). The hot and sour soup had zero flavor. Ordered pepper steak today only to find a rotten odor within. Ended up returning it only to argue what "rotten smells like". According to the lady behind the counter, "it should smell like this". I dropped into this place on a hot July day after visiting my Dumfries office. They didn't have the air condition on and its a small place, so I wasn't too sure... But... I found this to be the most authentic Chinese tasting food of any restaurant I've been too in Northern VA. I've been to Beijing three times and eaten in some authentic "hole in the wall" places and this is what it reminded me of. It was really good and, frankly, a lot of food for less than $6.00. I did see the young lady behind the cash register but, frankly, nothing wrong with that. She seemed to be translating for her father (?) a bit. Went here for lunch today, I ordered the small spicy shrimp. I thought this selection would be shrimp tossed in a spicy sauce, I was incorrect to say the least. The shrimp comes in a strange old bay-like mixture still in the shell. I have now spent the better part of my lunch hour un-peeling shrimp, creating a mess due to the mixture which by the way isn't even spicy. I ordered and paid for an order of the large quart sized house lo mien, expecting the noodles to be served in a large box type container. They delivered a lunch sized styrofoam container filled with noodles instead. When I called to have the issue rectified, they claimed they switched the sizing to the lunch size container. I appreciate the family aspect, but I feel sad for the young daughters that have to take orders all day...but I'll let that go. They definitely do not care for store ambience, as it is just not a place to sit and eat..the food is so-so. Some dishes (Chicken Lo Mein) are out of this world delicious. But, other foods are horrible (General Tso's/Any chicken dish). I think where they stumble is their reliance on frozen entrees. All of the chicken comes out in clumps and you know it was thrown directly from the freezer into the fryer or what have you. Very possibly the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The oil used has been reused 1 too many times you can see and taste it and it's disgusting. The food is greasy in a bad way and you can tell it's not fresh. We ordered combination fried rice, Singapore noodles, chicken wings, spare ribs, and hot and sour soup. The soup was the only decent thing everything else was absolutely gross. I'm not making this up. My husband was also grossed out. The food was very inexpensive. The sesame chicken and pork fried rice tasted great even fresh compared to other places I have tried in NOVA. The spicy shrimp was over cooked, but 35 shrimp for less than 5 dollars I guess I couldn't have expected anything better. The wonton egg drop soup wasn't appetizing to me. It tasted rather oily. Other than the soup and shrimp everything else was great. We also tried the crab wontons. Well they were definitely more cream cheese versus crab but they were cooked beautifully fresh and tasted very good.
