The process from start to finish took a bit longer than I expected, but I don't think that was their fault. The stove we ordered took quite some time to come in (which Austin told us was likely to happen), and because of that delay, we had to re-schedule installation once. Also, once the stove was installed, it was clear that a larger surround needed to be fabricated to fill a gap between the stove and the brick. That also took a while to complete, but likely because of the massive snow issues in the area in February. I was not in a hurry, so it was fine to wait. Overall I had a good experience and I would use SOMD again.

After servicing it, they failed to put the logs back correctly and left the flue closed. Within hours, soot blew throughout our entire house. Black soot covered walls, ceilings, upholstery, linens, and furniture in nearly every room. The damage was catastrophic. We had to go through our homeowners insurance because the cleanup costs exceeded $60,000. The restoration required professional soot remediation, sealing and repainting walls, cleaning all upholstery and fabrics, and extensive cleaning throughout the entire home. What made this even worse was the company's response afterward. They would not provide the business owner's information or their business insurance information, and they took absolutely no responsibility for the damage caused by their work. We were left to handle the nightmare ourselves.
