Chi-Mek [chee*meck]: konglish word combining Chicken with Mekju (beer). - a noun/verb/way of life -correct way to use in a sentence: let's go out for some Chi-mek! - Also correct: All I do is Chi-Mek! My 2nd fav Korean fried chicken spot in Portland. I see most ppl seem to opt for wings but if u have another person to share with the whole chicken is def the way to go (it's cut up & fried, not entire chicken fried thanksgiving style) bc you get all the different meatier pieces. For the whole chicken u only get choice of soy garlic or hot king or half n half. They have a few other flavors if you're doing wings or something else but those are their best 2 flavors IMO anyway. Soy garlic is usually too sweet for me but here it was delicious, not too much soggy thick coating of sauce. They let me change the hot to their extra hot king which I recommend if you like spicy at all since it wasn't anything crazy spice level wise. Great happy hour too w/ 50% off beers from 2-5 daily. Haven't seen 3.50 for a pint in quite some time! They sell some classic Korean instant ramens for about $4 that you can use their hot hot water tower to cook & eat there like Korean/japanese 7-elevens. U can also pay extra for them to dress it up w/ like boiled egg & stuff lol.

Sooo good

I really like their chicken. And i used to like their treokbokki too, but I am very dissatisfied in both taste and how little rice cake there was this time I got it. It was 95% cabbage and 5 pieces of rice cakes for $14.99 I got it to go so the bowl is mine in the picture, fyi. I'm from korea and I never had any tteokbokki that puts cabbage in general but it's disappointing that they put this much cabbage so that they don't have to put as much fish cake or the rice cake. Skip this menu if you ever go to chimcking.

Regular soy garlic and popcorn chicken

Chimcking has never disappoint me, their regular soy garlic will always be my comfort food and the staff there are so friendly. I used to always make the drive to the Beaverton location but I'm so glad they open one in Portland and I have not stop going here since. My to go order is a regular soy garlic and a side of soy garlic pop corn chicken. I will occasionally order their teokbokki as well, the sauce can be spicy but very tolerable! I always leave the restaurant happy and will continue to recommend chimcking to everyone I know! Note: They have anime/ Kpop playing on their tv! Parking sucks tho.

So much to say being my first experience eating here. All good things to be honest. Street parking around the area was easily available when I went, so that was really. Going in, they got some mini crane games that you can pay-to-play which was cute. A bit messy in the front, but not an issue. The counter was all the way in the middle of the place and you had to go up and order first before dining in. It wasn't really busy it seemed like. Some to-go orders, but no one really dining in except maybe one other table. Saw they had 4 kinds of chicken wings based on the spice level you preferred. Ended up getting 6 pieces of the Garlic Soy and 6 of the Extra Hot King. The chicken comes with a side of radish. There's a good amount of appetizers to choose from to go with your chicken. So go the egg rolls and some white rice to go with our food. Not only that, they got an instant ramen station as well! I haven't used it before, but I like that it's an option since I don't usually see anything like that very often. The place was pretty spacious and they had some TV playing some shows. I got to sit at a table that had a nice view of one of the TVs that was playing Naruto on it. So it was an enjoying experience. Food came out at a timely manner and gloves and disposable utensils were available to keep our hands from being sticky. Looked like we had to bus our own table after the meal, but it was pretty easy to do and I had no issue with that. So how was the food? It was alright. The extra hot was pretty spicy, but it wasn't anything extremely mind blowing or impressive. Just solid food and solid experience dining in. I'd go back.

I shared the soy & hot (20pcs) with my friend. We initially thought we could finish it all but we ended up splitting the leftovers. I enjoy eating the wings with radish which also helps with digestion. Since we ordered delivery I can't speak on ambiance, but the food itself was great.

This location is in Hollywood district which makes it hard to find parking since it is only street parking in a busy area. The actual restaurant is nice, very clean. Service was fast since we were the only ones there. Ordered a 20 pc of the wings, half soy garlic & half spicy as well as a tteobokki. Food came out relatively fast, around 10 minutes or so. Wings were delicious, crispy, and saucy. My favorite was the soy garlic. The tteobokki was okay, there was something about the texture of the sauce that I didn't particularly enjoy. But all the cheese on top was yummy! This place is cool & definitely work checking out for your Korean fried chicken fix!

first time here at this location, really hard to find parking, have to just keep circling for parallel street parking, or park further away and walk We came together on a saturday afternoon and it was during happy hour 2-5pm. Got a large and shared with with my spouse, $4.25 good tall size. Great draft beer, holiday edition with the cranberry cider Ordered half & half with soy garlic and hot wings 20 pieces $33.99

The food was solid, an 8/10. It was spicier than I expected so I drink a lot of water haha. The water cup I got had lipstick smears on the lip of it which I didn't notice til half way through my meal which kind of disturbed me... the cup was not washed well enough. However, they did play one piece in the store which might just cancel out the unhygienic cup mentions earlier? Overall, this place is worth checking out, just look at your cup carefully before drinking from it...

Parking: some parking outside, next to a bunch of food truck places Food: we got the Soy Garlic. SOOO DELICIOUS!!! The crunch of the chicken perfect and I felt like there was a good ratio of drumstick/wings. Service: good service no complaints. Would return!!

Wow! What a waste of money! Had been looking forward to trying this place and am very disappointed. Boneless wings were the only thing we liked. Got takeout and 2 items were missing from our order! The cashier was friendly and it appeared to be clean but we won't be back.

Love this place. Good price for the quality. Even the water is good because they have a fancy water filter dispenser thing.

We walked in at about 6:30pm on a Wednesday night and was kind of greeted by one of the servers. She wasn't too friendly and seemed to be irritated that we said we'd wait for a table as opposed to sitting at the bar. Once seated, that same server came over to try to take our orders and once again seemed irritated that we weren't ready to order. Luckily, another server took over from there and we had a pleasant anniversary meal the rest of the time! Here's everything we tried: Devilish Eggs - This came with 4 deviled eggs and was just okay. The crispy bacon pieces was the best part of this dish! Steak Tartare - This was the main reason we chose this restaurant and we were definitely not disappointed! We spent our first anniversary together in Europe and had so much tartare and this really brought back some wonderful memories for us. The tartare was rich and mustardy, beef flavor was great, and it sort of just melted in your mouth. The crispy chips paired well with the tartare and I can't wait to come back and have this again! Mussels - This was a big bowl of mussels in a white wine garlic sauce with toasted baguettes. Mussels tasted fresh and garlicky with just a bit of funk from whatever cheese they grated on top. The toasted baguettes were so good dipped into that white wine broth. I wish this dish came with skinny fries but it was also so good as is. Would definitely order this again! Field Greens - I asked for this to come out with my meal but it came out about 10 minutes before the entrees came out. It was very light and refreshing. I saved half to have with my meal but most of it was wilted already by the time our mains came out. But it's okay! The fried chicken actually had a small portion of this salad on its plate. I wouldn't have ordered this had I known, so next time will skip the side salad altogether! Fried chicken - I really wanted to like this dish but alas, fried chicken breast is very hard to make juicy. I definitely prefer dark meat because that's harder to mess up. My partner enjoyed it but he doesn't mind dry chicken. The sauces were phenomenal! That mustard sauce was great and the sweet glaze was delicious! The potatoes would have been a lot better if they were smaller to get more of that crust to creamy potato ratio but still okay the way it was. My fiance cleaned this plate up! Brown Butter Cake - This cake was phenomenal! It's hard to mess anything with Brown Butter up so I had really high expectations for this and they certainly did not disappoint. The server was nice enough to throw candles on it since we were celebrating and it really ended our meal on the sweetest note! The restaurant itself is small and cozy. A bit dark and romantic. It really reminded me of the small bistros in France that we frequented while we were out there. We'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu!
