If joy had a flavor -- it might taste like Chillville. Tucked away in Hilo's calm rhythm, Chillville feels like that spot you stumble into on a slow afternoon and end up staying longer than you planned. Bright colors, island playlists, and that little hum of community energy -- it's local, it's easy, and it's real. I went for one of their shave ice creations, and it honestly brought me right back to childhood summers -- that feeling of sticky hands, sunshine on your face, and nothing to rush for. The ice was fine and fluffy, almost cloudlike, and the syrups tasted fresh, not too sweet. And when you get a scoop of ice cream tucked underneath? Unreal. What I love most about Chillville isn't just the treat -- it's the vibe. You can tell it's a small team that cares, that smiles at you like you're already ohana. It's that rare local spot that reminds you how good it feels to slow down, laugh, and enjoy something simple. The place feels made for everyone -- kids, couples, travelers, locals -- all sharing one table, one breeze, one moment of happiness. It's community in a cup. Final Thoughts: Chillville is more than a dessert stop -- it's an energy. A reminder to chill, breathe, and taste life as it comes -- one sweet, melting bite at a time. I also enjoy just taking a break and playing games with my partner.

I have never heard of rolled ice cream until I came across this gem... and now I spent all my Yelp time when traveling trying to find another of its kind! This place is absolutely amazing! Your experience begins upon walking in and being greeted. The owner explained to us how to order- though the menu has a step by step guide, it was helpful to be given some guidance. All of the ice cream is made on the spot customized to your taste buds. And holy cow it is delicious!! I cannot recommend this place enough. And I cannot wait to return to the big island to have again!

Great rolled ice cream and an impressive amount of options for mix ins and toppings. The ice cream tastes fine but is really elevated by the mix ins. You won't be disappointed.

So many options and add ons to the ice cream rolls. Great customer service and a cool setup with all the games they had to play inside ! Really cures a sweet tooth !

Recently had the chance to try Chillville in Hilo. I've been meaning to go in since it open several months ago, but I haven't had a chance. Finally done myself in downtown Hilo and thought that ice cream sounded delicious. Let's try Chillville. So really cute little space where you order at the counter and wait for your ice cream. They have three bench lack tables inside for you to eat your ice cream. If you decide not to take it out. Service is very friendly. The menu gives you lots of options, I ended up getting vanilla ice cream with Captain crunch And strawberry sauce topping. The ice cream and the toppings tasted nothing like I had expected. You are very very, very good especially the ice cream delicious creamy and fresh. I definitely will be going back. It's not necessarily the lowest price in town. The Ke how do you know how to spell Kiki like kids Kiki right Keiki size was $9 but was definitely worth it. It was more than enough to satisfy my craving for ice cream. Definitely recommended. The Good: delicious fresh ice cream in a very chill environment and friendly service. The Bad: as with most places in Hilo, parking can be really challenging. The Chances I'll be Back: Most definitely when I'm have the urge to have some ice cream. This is a place that I have in mind. Love the ability to create my own ice cream.

I'm so glad Chillville has opened in Hilo! It has been a while since we've had any decent ice cream parlor in town, so this is a wonderful new addition. I really like their mocha base rolled ice cream -- it's so rich and creamy! I feel like it's creamier than other rolled ice creams that I've tried. I also like that they have a wide variety of toppings to choose from, so you can try different combinations every time you go. The inside is also nice and air conditioned and there is ample seating and lots of board games if you wanted to stay and hang out with friends. Another added bonus is that you get to watch your ice cream be made right in front of you! They also do events, which is cool, BUT we have shown up to their store hungry for ice cream and they were closed due to being at events across town. So you may want to check social media (or wherever they may post those kinds of updates?) to check that they're open before heading there.

After working ice cream, it is peeled off the chilled plate into rolls.

Creamy ice cream with fun options for mix in's and toppings. The liquid base is spread onto a chilled metal plate and worked like kneading bread. The end result is a dense ice cream. And rather unique. They finish working it by creating little rolled tubes.

Amazing customer service and delicious ice cream. I highly recommend this place. Sitting areas is great and lots fun games to entertain yourself while waiting for you order.

Looking for a cold treat? A munchie fix? Come on down! The ice cream was so so so ono! I recommend it 100%. It was fast and friendly service. There's also a great sushi place next door.

Strawberry chocolate mixed ice cream with cookie dough and brownie toppings, drizzled in condensed milk.

My husband and I went to Chillville at about 8 pm and the place was freezing. Maybe to help with their service of rolling ice cream. They provided nice seating and provided games that I haven't played with since the early 2000's. There was a variety of interesting flavors and mix's. I got the strawberry chocolate flavored ice cream with cookie dough and brownie topping, drizzled with what was supposed to be ube condensed milk. But it looked like regular condensed milk. Super sweet and just enough for the keiki size. They personally delivered the ice cream to our table which was very nice of the workers!

But as soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the wonderful staff, and the whole vibe completely changed. Inside, the space is bright, inviting, and thoughtfully set up. We were offered samples of their Kona coffee along with a couple of treats of the day, which was such a nice touch. As you walk around, you can actually watch them making their delicious goodies, which makes the experience even more fun and tempting. The shop was beautifully decorated for the upcoming Easter holiday, and they also had some really lovely gift boxes--perfect if you're looking to bring something home for family or friends. There's also a small area where you can grab drinks (and possibly ice cream too). I ordered a green tea latte, and it was absolutely wonderful. Overall, such a cozy, welcoming spot with great treats and friendly service. Definitely worth stopping by--whether you're craving something sweet or looking to pick up a thoughtful gift!

As a disclaimer, I'm not the biggest fan of shaved ice because of how sweet the dessert tends to be, and because more often than not, there are a bunch of artificial colors used in the fruit juices. When we looked at the menu, I was impressed and excited to see the emphasis on quality of their ingredients: no artificial flavors or colors, no aspartame, no high fructose corn syrup, and no preservatives. I was sold. Although we were tempted to create our own shaved ice, we ultimately went with "The Local", a soursop and liliko'i combo topped with haupia cream. Between the two flavors, I enjoyed the sour sop side a bit more since it was the one that was less sweet. The cream on top was absolutely delicious, and reminded me of the light and airy frothed milk cream you find on many boba drinks these days. There's a generous amount ladled on top, ensuring you can have some in every bite without having to carefully ration out the cream. Overall, I'm a fan of Kula Shave Ice. Definitely a great dessert to enjoy on a hot day. Worth checking out if you're ever in Hilo.
