Traveling for work and new to yoga but I'm committed to going at least once a week. I looked at a couple of other yoga studios in the area but Chill looked like it offered a variety of classes, the reviews were great, and it just looks like it would be nice. I attempted to register and signup for the class while walking through my hotel and in the taxi. I got registered but the website wouldn't let me book the class. I was greeted at 7:28 am (the class was at 7:30 ) by a very nice woman who found me in their system, put me in the class and got me a glass of water. I didn't bring a yogi mat with me but that was fine because they have them there for you to use. The receptionist showed me where I could lock up my personal items, and I got the 20 second tour! Everything was very white, clean, and relaxing. The class was yoga & meditation, there were only 4 students (myself included), they already had a mat, pillow, and blanket set up for 4 students (its like they knew I was coming!) I enjoyed the class but if I have the opportunity to visit again I think I'll choose a different class. I've been doing hot yoga, so I really feel like relaxed but worked out as this didn't really do that for me, but I guess it shouldn't. I did want to get a massage after the class but the masseuse wasn't coming in until the afternoon, so I skipped it. Overall, I would definitely come back. The staff was great and $22 to drop in for a class seems like the norm.

I have a wellness crush on Chill. I came here while traveling in Chicago and was blown away. I took a 30 minute meditation class and gained so much insight in that short period of time. I'm a regular but amateur mindfulness meditator, and I had not done a guided meditation class before coming to Chill. The space is inviting, and the staff member who checked us in welcomed us, offered water or tea, and gave us a tour. She explained how to use the meditation cushion and bolster because we weren't familiar with that style of seated meditation. The instructor greeted us and asked about our prior experience and any physical limitations that might warrant reclined or back-supported postures. After class, we enjoyed sitting in the swing chairs in the lobby and browsing their well-curated retail items. I loved my experience so much that I'm going back tomorrow.

I don't come for a lot of chit chat or want a lot of handholding, and I have always found the staff really perceptive and accommodating. For newbies, they do a very good job of getting you oriented without an overwhelming list of remember-such-and-so's. The accoutrements of float tanks are neatly arrayed and intuitive, e.g., ear plugs, petroleum jelly to cover an scratches or spots that would be irritated by the salinity of the water, towel, washcloth for pre- and post-float shower. The space itself is thoughtfully designed, soothing, and exceptionally clean. I have not tried the full rang of their float rooms/tanks but I'll vouch for the Samadhi tank (#OldSchool).

Unfortunately, our experience was completely soured due to repeated negative encounters with one employee--Rochelle. Despite the calming and restorative nature of the space, Rochelle's attitude and unprofessional behavior made visits increasingly uncomfortable. She was consistently dismissive, unaccommodating, and at times outright rude. After giving it the benefit of the doubt multiple times, we finally decided to bring our concerns to the attention of the owner, Gloria. To our disappointment, Gloria did nothing to address the situation. We had hoped for some form of accountability or at least an open, honest conversation, but instead, it felt like our concerns were brushed off entirely. We didn't want to cancel our membership--we genuinely loved the service and the concept--but we're not willing to support a business that allows one toxic employee to undermine the entire experience, especially when leadership refuses to take responsibility. Sadly, we've since canceled our membership and won't be returning. I hope Float Sixty takes customer feedback more seriously in the future--for the sake of others who still value what it could be.

As someone who does yoga for a nice stretch and relaxation/centering rather than an aggressive…read morephysical workout, Room to Breathe is my ideal yoga studio. -The 5:45pm class time on weekdays and there in the loop location makes it easy to be able to squeeze in a yoga class right after work. -The studio provides all the mats and props, and the teachers set them out for you and put them away. Not having to lug a yoga mat to and from the office greatly increases my ability to come by for a class after work. -They offer true restorative and gentle flow classes. Chicago seems to be a city that loves its hot and ashtanga/vinyasa yoga, and the Room to Breath offerings fill a niche I haven't found elsewhere. -The class sizes are small and intimate. I don't think I've ever had more than eight people in a class, and 4-5 is usually more typical. -The instructors are gentle, precise, intuitive, and body positive. If this is your very first yoga class, you'll feel confident in your ability to follow their directions to execute poses correctly. The fact that this studio is tied to a psychotherapy practice probably helps inform this sensitive and mindful approach to yoga! Give yourself a few extra minutes to find the studio, since it is on the 10th floor of a nondescript Loop office building (not usually what you expect!), but after you find it the first time, I guarantee you'll be back.

It feels somehow weird to be rating a Buddhist Temple, but here I go:…read more This temple is a nice place to quiet the mind and remind yourself of your practice. They have a Sunday morning community service, it starts at 10am and literally at 10am they will just start silent meditation, follow by an interval with chanting and prayer, than you are back into meditation for another 25 minutes. After that there is a dharma talk, final announcements, and you are welcome to join the group for tea and sweets in the downstairs hall. I have been going to the Sunday service for a month. It's been a very good experience. They offer an introduction to meditation class, retreats and membership with more hours for week services and yoga. There is also a cute bookstore by the entrance.

Years back, I had stayed few days at the Zen Buddhist Temple, which was ran by this nice lady monk who had since moved. Because I had a phenomenal and transformative experience, I decided to come back for a second retreat! When I came back, the Temple was ran by a male monk from Korea (could be the same monk now, not sure), and I left there with an uncomfortable and unpleasant time. Reflecting on this, I realized that there were certain assumptions that the male monk failed to inform me, before I checked in. I don't want to go into exact details of what those issues were because I don't want to ruin people's view of the Temple. But, if you have any plans to stay at the Temple overnight, ask what rules and expectations are for guests, especially when it comes to the access and use of the kitchen...

I got there early and was greeted by Niah. She helped me get acquainted with the studio and set up with my mat towel. Love a studio pup, so it was such a treat meeting Mars, Niah's dog. I appreciated the ambiance of the room. The dark walls with flameless candles created the feeling of sacredness, which is exactly what my yoga practice means to me. It's my own, and the fact I couldn't see everyone else gave me freedom to explore my practice without judgment. I honestly had no expectations of the class. I was just excited to do yoga and listen to the throwback Thursday playlist. I had no idea I was going to put in work! Plus the room was much hotter than I'm used to, so I got a good sweat in. Niah's flow was simple but also challenging as she offered options to level up the practice. It was a great well rounded class, and she made it accessible for all levels of experience. I would highly recommend this studio, and check out Niah's class! She's an awesome teacher.

That person was ME. LOL I have been called to take Kundalini for about a year or more. It has come into my thoughts on and off but I didn't make much of a deal about it. I have noticed Sat Nam Yoga in the past and didn't think much about it except, what a lovely place. Its funny how some places grab your attention at JUST THE RIGHT MOMENT. That moment was 3 weeks ago. I decided to join the new student 2 week special where you can go to as many classes as you would like for 30 bucks. I have been to two Kundalini classes held by Karampal who is also the director of Sat Nam. She is by far a lovely soul with a purpose at having anyone and everyone try Kundalini and other practices at this lovely center. You can feel her energy of love, fun and good vibes. She instructs with patience and diligence. The center is located in West Town, one of my favorite areas in Chicago. The staff are so warm and welcoming, the students/practitioners are friendly, and the sense of community is palpable. I have been to two classes thus far and I am working diligently to try and attend a Full Moon Meditation and Fire Ceremony this Friday. They have Gong ceremony classes, Tai Chi QiGong classes and offer healing services to boot. They have so many offerings that will meet your needs to whatever it is you are looking for that will help you reset/rebalance in life. The choice is yours and the offerings are plenty! I see myself coming more than my two-week special whether that is via drop-in classes or subscription membership.
