We visited this Chili's location at 7:30pm on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. The restaurant was pretty busy and moderately noisy. Our service was excellent. The fried mozzarella appetizer came out extremely fast and it was delicious! This is my family's favorite! We ordered a double big mouth burger with bacon added, bacon cheeseburger - both with fries, and the guiltless sirloin with a side of grilled shrimp added. Unfortunately, the bacon was overcooked and one of the burgers was overcooked and rock hard on one side. The fries were great - seasoned well, crispy, and hot. I enjoyed the sirloin, shrimp and asparagus, very tasty! One thing we noticed is the floors were extremely slippery throughout the restaurant, almost as if they had a layer of oil on them. The waitress in the bar area tonight was so rude and seemed to genuinely hate her job and her customers. While walking by she notice my sons empty water glass and said would be back with refills and chips but forgot and never came back. She didn't check on when our food got dropped off and finally came when our food was gone - finally got the refills and to go boxes at same time. She didn't seem to want to deal with us and just had a hateful attitude with every little interaction . Still tipped her because it's just my nature to tip well but it actually pained me to do so. The place was clean, decor was simple. we arrive around 6:15p on 2/10/24 with a party of 4, my wife, my 2 kids and myself. We were told around a 25 minute wait. Why? I counted at LEAST 9 clean tables/booths for us! Finally we're seated, drink orders taken. Drinks arrive and straws were not given. We had to ask for them. My husband and I went to Chilis tonight for dinner and chose to sit at the bar so we could watch the football games. I could tell right away that the bartender was not thrilled with us choosing the bar to eat, especially after we only order water to drink, and not alcohol. She gave us menus and we received our waters. We were ready to order when another couple sat down and they ordered alcohol. The bartender then said, do you know what you want from the menu to this couple, completely ignoring us. I decided to be patient, assuming she would come to us next to take our order. I was wrong. She went to check on drinks for a group at the bar. It was obvious to us, since we didn't order alcohol, we weren't worth her time. Too bad, my husband is a very generous tipper, so she missed out. I went to this restaurant, which had many empty booths and tables and asked for a booth. They said ok and tried to set me at a table directly in front of the kitchen door. I pointed out the multiple open booths in at least 3 different servers areas, and was told policy was to put us there. I asked for the manager, her response was all of their sections were double seated and I would have to wait at least 10 minutes for a server in a booth. If all were double seated, what difference was what type of seat I was in?? There are many food options close to this place, if you want good food and service, please go elsewhere. The Texas Roadhouse next door was perfect, staff and food. They care. It's a shame Chili's don't. It appears by other reviews, Chili's really don't provide good food or service. Read others. Sad, this place is a pale comparison of what Chili's used to be. The old ambiance is gone. I miss the frantic rush to deliver a sizzling plate of fajitas to the surrounding tables. It always smelled so good that it could change my mind about what to order. I'll have that. Luckily, the place is never busy so you will always find a seat (great for when Texas Road House is full with a long wait). Food was okay. The chips and salsa are as great as ever. The skillet queso has the same great taste I remember but lacks any actual skillet. Paper cup queso, anyone? Loaded nachos were a flat mess that tasted great. According to my wife, the SW egg rolls were great with the sliders and scorching hot chicken tenders. Service was okay, and for our rowdy bunch, as good as I could have hoped for. The only reason we are here tonight was because we had a gift card. It's been years since we've eaten at a Chili's anywhere and this was the first time we ate at this one. The moment I walked in, I knew we probably should have chosen somewhere else. We stood by the hostess stand with not a soul in sight. I saw a staff member peek around the "To Go" area, but he never moved. The bartender looked at us and went to the back. There were a few tables that had food but I began to wonder if we were just supposed to seat ourselves. Finally, someone comes out to take us to our table. The floor was so slippery- I was skating to my seat. It was the kind of slippery a floor gets when there is soap buildup a floor. Our waitress was quick to take our order. She put in chips/salsa on her order device and someone them to us before she was finished asking the table behind us if they were doing ok. Chips and salsa were hot and salty. I ordered a burger and fries. It was pretty greasy and the fries were just okay. i left half my food on my plate. It was just okay. Been to Chilis in Owensboro 5 times. The last time was a week ago. 6-2-24. There were 5 of us. The server didn't get 2 of our orders right. They added something we didn't order. Gave us a salad instead of a side salad and up charged us for both. Food runners were confused. Server had to many tables or couldn't remember when we asked for refills. My burger was overdone and my wife's was underdone and we weren't asked for temperature. The three chicken fingers one of us got was over fried and the size of chicken feet. We orders chili for a side of soup whiended up not being a soup and we were charged for it. The menu stated said chili wasn't a side, but was listed in the soup section. That was confusing and not clarified when we ordered. The manager was ok about the issues. Corrected the bill. Made excuses. Typical average manager for the 2020s. Not what you would expect from a place with 2.5 star rating that wanted to raise the rating. One of our group just checked his receipt and found a $2.99 entertainment charge added? 5 adults over 60. Just wanted a night out. 5 adults never coming back. Like I said, I've been there 5 since it opened. Poor service, always an issue. Very disappointing since I am a chilis fan. This was my wife's third time. Same issues all three times. She changes her lunch plans with friends as we left the parking lot. It didn't take long to realize I had made a huge mistake. This place doesn't come close to deserving the one star yelp makes us give.The server was ok, she was trying no doubt she can see that this place is circling the drain. I ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas, figured it was safe,had at another Chili's and it was good. I was wrong, I don't think this kitchen could prepare a bowl of cereal. For starters it looked like it had been thrown at the plate, shrimp was overcooked, the steak wasn't even sliced threw. Rice tasted like maybe a day old. They were short staffed tonight and Savannah handled it like a CHAMP! She gave us a head's up it might be a little wait but we didn't mind because we were in no hurry. She got our drinks immediately, put in our appetizer immediately, then our entree orders immediately. We're gonna try again in a few months as this just opened in Owensboro. - They were out of everything to drink except coke and Diet Coke and alcohol. - I ordered a soup and asked for it to be brought out before our meal. I didn't get it until after we were done eating and they didn't bring me a spoon until 10 minutes later. The soup was cold. - They gave my daughter the wrong meal. She didn't get what she ordered until everyone else was done eating. - They didn't have one of my sides and didn't tell me they ran out until I asked about it. - Our waitress didn't refill our drinks. (They were busy so we were trying to be patient.) - Our steak was extremely under cooked and did not taste good. We were told a manager was going to be coming to talk to us. (We didn't ask to speak to a manager) We waited about 25 minutes for him before we said forget it and left because he was busy taking pictures with the guests. This was actually one of the worst experience I've had at a restaurant and I can't say it was anything specific the entire set up was a fail in my opinion. Our food was something we could have gotten from a frozen dinner with less flavor than that even but we got the chips a queso and there are 2 options regular queso and skillet queso... I've never been a fan of Chili's but my husband and I got a gift card for Christmas so we went. The restaurant was very busy when we went which was expected since it is new to town. But you could tell the staff was not prepared. Nonetheless, this Chili's location is just like the others I have tried. Lacking in flavor and poor service. I watched them get their drinks, 3 soaking wet plates for the 4 of us, and the appetizer. Took asking 3 times and a good 30-40 minutes to get my beer, it arrived just before my steak and chicken fajita that was only chicken. The service was great. The food was pretty good, but there was a limited menu so don't expect your favs to be here. One downfall is that it is a brand new building & the restrooms did not have a changing table. There is also no family restroom. So, not super family friendly. But overall we had a pretty good time. Just a major inconvenience when you've ordered something before and go back and am told "umm yeah I don't think we can do that but I can check" sure enough they "couldn't do that". Had been craving Buffalo chicken crispers all day, just totally bamboozled me and just caught me by surprise. If the chicken crispers aren't covered in Buffalo sauce they might as well get sent back. But you can put Buffalo sauce on the wings there? Just a major inconvenience that the wings get special treatment over the chicken crispers..
