I've been on a sambusa kick lately and Yelped Sambusa's in South Minneapolis, close to her home and to another place I needed to stop by on the way. Service: I phoned the number on Yelps website and asked if i could place an order for pick up. The man on the phone seemed confused about my request, so I asked if this was a restaurant (he did only answer with a hello) ? He perked up and said yes and allowed me to place my order. I asked what were my options: so i guess beef and veggie are the standard two options. He advised me that my order would be ready when i got there. When I arrived the young lady at the counter was very friendly and had my order waiting on me and new what I had come for. Food: Was cold when i got it, but it was possibly due to two things: 1) They have sambusa already made and sitting in a case when you walk in and 2) I got stuck in horrible traffic coming from North to South Mpls. The food had great flavor.. a little spicier than the other places I've visited so far and I really liked that. The sambusa was pastry puff texture on the outside. Ambiance: The actual restaurant does appear to be a coffee shop and not a restaurant, which would explain why they had already pre-made sambusa ready to be served. Now.. PARKING IS HARD. Granted this place is located on the first floor of the apartment complex adjacent to Target on Lake Street, basically next door to Sally's... waaaaaay to your right of Target, but parking is ridiculous. I parked in the first spot i saw and kept hearing honking and realized someone was parking at me, saying I couldn't park there. I asked why and he just said i couldn't. The parking never said I couldn't, but it did provide times you could and for pick up and drop off only. I assumed since i was "picking up" food, I was okay, but i think it was for the daycare. So I moved, as not to cause a problem and not to get towed or blocked in or whatever. The high-end black and oolong teas are also pretty amazing, and I'll order these once in a while. I especially love the Sleepy Hollow black tea (originally Jin Jun Mei) and super delicious Guyokuro Japanese green teas... The shop is conveniently located in St. Anthony's Shopping Center, right off of I-35W.
