My plans changed on Saturday, thanks to a three-hour flight delay getting to the Twin Cities from Toronto. When I finally got into a rental vehicle at 1 pm, I decided to drive to West Saint Paul to check out this place. This nutrition studio is next to H&R Block in a huge plaza. I found a parking spot steps away from the main entrance. It occurred to me when I had parked and looked at the storefront that I have been here. It used to be Hangout Nutrition. I was trying to find a place to get healthy shakes and teas with no to low sugar in them back in November 2021. I tried a tea from Hangout Nutrition. It was okay, but it wasn't as yummy as what I get from ZeeV's Nutrition in Toronto. The Bar Nutrition has taken over the space that Hangout Nutrition once occupied. I was immediately greeted by Ashley. I got to meet Tony for the first time, who was working behind the bar with her. The space feels cozier and more welcoming. Ashley let me know that Liz made a lot of design changes. I liked them. Ashley was happy that I knew about Hangout Nutrition. She used to work at another business in this plaza, and would get shakes and teas from this place. She agreed that they weren't as yummy as those from NCN. The cool thing about this second location is that the menu is identical to the one at NCN. It makes things easier. I got the pineapple dreamer tea. It consists of pomegranate, raspberry, coconut, and pineapple flavours. It's essentially a pina colada with a pomegranate-raspberry twist. Tony made my tea. It was awesome. I loved it. Sadly, it's only available till September. I have never sat at any of their studios to enjoy a drink. I did on Saturday, mainly because I wanted to post a few stories on Instagram to help spread the word about this new location. There isn't any guest wifi at this studio yet. However, it's next to H&R Block that I used its guest wifi. I paid with a credit card. You can also order ahead using the Engage app. Sadly, it doesn't support credit cards with a Canadian billing address, so I can't use it. Even though my plans had changed getting down to the Twin Cities, visiting this new studio made my day. Congrats, Liz and Ashley! She is the mastermind behind many of the yummy recipes at NCN that I was excited to check out this place. I dropped by during my first full day in the Twin Cities. Simpley Nutrition is located in Inver Grove Heights (IGH). It's perfect when I am on my way to Rochester. It's also nice to say that I have visited another place in IGH other than Target. This place is in a plaza, across from Cub Foods, including its pharmacy. I had no problem finding a parking spot steps away from the main entrance. I backed into the spot and walked in. I got to meet Ashley's husky, who has the most beautiful piercing eyes and greeted me so warmly. It was great seeing her again, but in a different nutrition studio. The cool thing is that she has the same December shake and tea menus at both NCN and Simpley Nutrition. It makes her life easier. It also makes mine easier ordering at either place. I forgot to ask her about the name Simpley. I know that there is a lake nearby called Simley Lake. I need to find out what the P stands for. I'm thinking Protein. I got the following drinks: - Christmas carol tea - Christmas crack (Heath) shake I also got a couple of cake batter donuts on the house. The idea is that you sign in on the touchpad with your phone number. I'm already registered in the system, so I selected my name and I was good. If you're new, you fill in your name to register and you're done. i paid with a credit card. I was able to tip, too. Ashley didn't take long to make my drinks. I asked that the whipped cream be held on my shake. Done! I thanked her, said goodbye to her husky, and headed down to Rochester with my drinks. The best part was sipping and finishing my shake for most of my hour drive down to Rochester. The Christmas crack shake tastes just like a Heath bar. I loved the toffee bits. There was some chocolate and chopped nuts. So good! It made my drive down great. I had my Christmas carol tea for the rest of my trip down to northern Iowa and back up to the Twin Cities. It had peach, mango, raspberry, and orange. I loved it. It had all my favourite flavours rolled into a tea. I like the sports jerseys that are framed on the walls. The Minnesota Wild is featured a few times, which made my day. It's a deep studio. I liked being there. It felt comfortable. I'll be back. I went to this location on…read morea Saturday afternoon during the height of social distancing and people stocking up for 30 days worth of supplies for a self-quarantine. I was expecting the images that I've been seeing in the news: empty shelves, chaotic and aggressive atmosphere, etc. What I discovered at Mississippi Market was the exact opposite. I was one of about 10 other customers. Every single shelf was full of beautiful produce and all the necessities (except for toilet paper but I don't blame the co-op... people are truly unreasonable with this obsession right now and have purchasing patterns that are difficult to anticipate). There was music playing softly in the background and the staff were calm and friendly, even though I know their workday is exponentially more difficult right now. There was so much extra hand sanitizer around the store. The good kind that smells like lavender! Thank you to this co-op for being the calmest haven for ingredients to make nutrient dense meals throughout this time of isolation and public chaos.
