The restaurant had a quaint downtown feel with a welcome lack of pretension. And the food was 5-star level. We started with the chilled caprese which was light and delicious. The balsamic drizzle, one of my favorites, really added to the depth of flavor. My wife ordered the salmon which came with a phenomenal sauce. It was tangy and tasted of dill and really elevated an already flavor- packed meal. I had the Thai pasta dinner which was a fusion of Thai flavors with an Italian flair. It will be one of my new favorites with the Thai spices in the sauce covering spiral noodles. If you are looking for fancy food with a "friend next door" vibe. Brava's is for you.

It's located in downtown Lewiston and one of the nicest buildings in town. From the moment we walked in the door, this place oozed charm. There was a gentleman playing the piano, dressed in old-timey garb. His greeted us with a wide and sincere smile. We walked through several rooms packed with people and decorations and sat in a side room with a bar and near a bright-as-the-sun stained glass window. The lunch and dinner menu was quite expansive, starting with salads and sandwiches and ending with steak and seafood options. I ordered a Caesar salad with smoked salmon and my son ordered the Cuban sandwich. While waiting for our meals to arrive, we toured the other rooms and marveled the eclectic decorations. In the main dining room, there was a large mountain lion preying over the patrons. Each room and wall had different but interesting decor, like they have someone picking out the neatest items and centralizing them here. The food came and unfortunately it wasn't quite up to the standard I now anticipated. The smoked salmon was tasty and plentiful on my salad, but it lacked dressing and enough lettuce to get a good balance. My son's Cuban didn't come on Cuban bread or a pressed bread, but a standard thick baguette, which we both found odd. He said it was too much bread and dwarfed the pork, ham and cheese; quite disappointing. However, the French fries were bountiful and good. Overall, this was a fun place to eat and they likely have some tasty options, but we chose poorly for our maiden visit. Will definitely try this place again if in the area.

I had asked for some ranch along with my sandwich, and she said she needed to get the other orders and she would come back. She never did. My Dad's friend ordered the chicken club without bacon. He received his sandwich and I thought he was eating healthy for a second and my dad commented that he thought he got a sandwich. My Dad's friend thought he did too, and I looked back at the menu and sure enough it does say it's supposed to come on a bun. There was no bun at all, but being older, he didn't want to send it back as we were already eating. We also observed the waitress, kind of put down another patrons, lunch plate, a little aggressively, and the patron was kind, but couldn't believe it. I have no idea if she was having a bad day so I can have Grace on that, but when you're in the public eye, Customer Service is scary much noted. My food was tasty. I would've loved to try their ranch with my onion rings, but she never came back to ask me that. We did hear a couple other of the patrons ask for mayonnaise and I don't know if they got that. We were there for a seminar, so we observed people in a small (there were 16 of us). I love the interior of Ernie's! It was my first time, so I was impressed by the decor and space. On our way out, there was a sign that said exit and it was the shortest way to the front door, but the same waitress told me to go all the way around. My elderly father has trouble walking so we took our time, and as soon as we made it to the front door, I witnessed a couple other people who were in our seminar go the way I had initially wanted to go, and no one told them otherwise. Overall, the food was good (my dad's friend would've liked it as a sandwich and not a "cut with fork and knife" situation) and the atmosphere was great, but the service was mid, at best.

The upstairs has the kitchen and dining area. But there's also the downstairs, basement dining and bar which practically lends to a speakeasy vibe. Each time I've visited I've opted for the bar, as I'm usually dining solo. The menu is small, but the food is done so well. I also look at the specials. One time they offered an Ivory King Salmon, I've never heard of it before and looked it up. Apparently it's very rare and makes up on 5% of King Salmon species. Super glad I ordered it, it's buttery, mild flavor reminded me of black cod. But their other menu items are nothing to ignore. I've had the roasted marinated lamb, and they also offer $15 dollar pasta Wednesdays. Recently I had the Linguine with meatballs, it tasted homemade - like the Nonna's were in the kitchen! IF I have space for dessert, I usually opt for the gallette or cheesecake, both are worthy options to end a satisfying meal. My only complaint is that Saute' on 6th is only open from Wed - Sat, so I have to plan my visits...
