Nestled in a row of historic buildings & shops, this tiny little bookstore manages to have a vast variety of books while at the same time being carefully curated. Things are mostly grouped by type, though there's also a delightful jumble, books you wouldn't expect to be side-by-side on a shelf, yet they work. The owner is delightful, happy to chat and also perfectly comfortable with silent exploration. The various recommendations are written by hand, posted right by the book on the shelf. It's an easy walk from the Ardmore train & bus. Parallel metered parking on street and a large municipal garage around the corner. Their pricing is fair, not a race-to-the bottom, also not extravagantly overpriced. You can pay slightly less to a vast conglomerate whose executives take joyrides to space while driving their s workers to exhaustion. Or you can come to this place that loves books and the people that read them. I choose the latter. I hope you do too.

They have a private parking lot and occupy both floors as they did in the past. The upstairs, which is accessible by elevator, had a Starbucks and a nice seating area. You are welcome to their free WiFi and can stay as long as you like. No purchase necessary! You can take books and magazines from the shelf to peruse while you are there. In addition to the wide variety of books and magazines, they have a gift section with puzzles, board games, stationary, wrapping paper and more. The staff seemed absolutely delighted and were eager to help and promote the store. They have more regional control over their offerings and have a nice selection of Philadelphia items in stock. They also have regular events and I was told Ginger Spice will be there in April to promote her kids book. Still has that brand new smell, stop in and check it out, great to have them back in the neighborhood!

B&N realizes that people need community spaces, and their new stores are a way to promote places for people to gather. This location has community events with local and national touring authors as well. I saw Ginger Spice on her YA Fantasy book series in April, and I made a friend at the event. WTG on building community, B&N. There is plenty of parking, and it's an easy walk from the Bryn Mawr regional rail station. They have books and toys on 2 floors, and a cafe upstairs. The staff is really friendly, and if you mention their community events, they will clue you into what's on the calendar. I always support local bookstores over chains, and that won't change. Guess I was focused on getting to donuts, but I'm glad I finally noticed it and now I stop in whenever I'm in the area. It's a smallish space, but well organized with a wide selection of genres. It's primarily books, but they also have DVDs and a small CD section. There are a few stepstools scattered around to help you reach the items on the higher shelves which I appreciate as a not super tall person. I find the CD section difficult to shop though, as it's on lower shelves and even with my glasses on it's tricky to read the small type on the cases near the floor. The employees are friendly and polite and always happy to help if you're looking for a specific title. I've only ever purchased here, but they also take items for trade-in, although you need to make an appointment for that. The prices are generally in line with other used bookstores in the area. Definitely sign up for their e-mail list, as they frequently send out discount codes. Unlike some used bookstores I frequent, I don't always leave here with a find, but I often come across a book on my TBR list at a good price.

This morning I had called the shop to inquire about a dollhouse. I spoke to a woman who stated that…read moreshe would check the price and have me call back in 30 minutes. I was so delighted that she had the house that I just headed right over to purchase it, regardless of price. When I arrived, she seemed extremely uninterested at first, but stated she would find out the price of the hous for me. After I looked at it, I had decided to purchase it, and I told her I would like to load it in the car. She became very distraught and angry Stated that she had told me to call back in 30 minutes because it would take a long time for them to prepare the house. She said that they would need to dismantle the display and it would not be ready until tonight. I told her I'd driven 40 minutes just to pick up the house and I would actually help her dismantle everything from insideif it would allow for me to get it sooner. By the way, there was only a few toys and pluses in the house. The picture is provided for everyone to see that it would only take 3 minutes to remove the items from inside! She then told me that she was very busy and I needed to calm down because she is verybusy and understaffed, and that she needs to check out everyone else in line first and I needed to step aside. She replies in a very mad way I told you to call back in 30 minutes!!!!! I reminded her kindly that she asked me to call back For the price, and I headed over because the price did not matter. I was embarrassed and humiliated, I then decided to walk away and let her check out all the other people in line. When she had done that, I came back to tell her I would help her dismantle the area for the house and I wanted to see what she could do for me. She was clearly walking past me ignoring me for a while and then she came and told me "now do you see what I just said,when we are extremely busy! She was so angry with us. I mentioned to her that she should calm down and that I would help her. Her attitude was so extremely disrespectful and aggressive and demeaning towards me. I don't even know why I bought the house, really just because I wanted to make sure I had everything assembled for Christmas for my kids. She then charged me more than what it cost to purchase the item Yes online, and the item is also marked in many areas and has some damage. I did not even complain about that. My biggest complaint is the way she treated me. It was absolutely disgusting. I work in an extremely stressful environment on a daily basis, and I have never ever talked to a single soul in this way EVER. I have spent thousands of dollars at your store, but I will never come back. I hope that everyone reads this and sees that they do not deserve to be treated this way.. Again I work in a very stressful high volume job, and have NEVER treated anyone this way Also you should have been grateful to be busy in a bad Economy, not taking it out on customers Your response shows everything. We mentioned some previous books that our niece enjoyed, and the lady was able to give a number of great recommendations. All three of us enjoyed the experience so much that we each bought a book. Can't wait to read my poetry collection. Great to see that this bookstore also carries the summer reading selections for local public high schools. Will be back!

They have a nice selection of used, but well-kept games and game controllers for a fraction of the price of new. What really makes this store, though, is the staff. Every single one of the young women and men working here are friendly, knowledgeable, and spare no effort in helping you find the product you are looking for. My 8 year old son got a gift card to GameStop for his birthday 6 months ago. He chose to use it to buy a GameStop pass, so he could get a free pack of Pokémon cards every month (which the guy working sold him on). We've then proceeded to come on here every month to them never having Pokémon card packs, so he feels like he wasted his gift card. They won't even let him get the $.50 singles in its place since they can't fulfill what he wants. Additionally, there's always ever only 1 person working, and no matter who is working they are completely inept. They are no help in finding things, and when more than even one customer is in the store they disintegrate like wet toilet paper. Lastly, they never keep consistent hours. I can rarely get here during the week because they close at 5, and now they're not even open on the weekends when they say they will be. They went as far as to post a calendar on their door for their holiday hours, and yet here I am at 10:39 on a Saturday, when they say they'll be open at 10, and no one is even answering their phone let alone removing the gates form the door and opening the store. Horribly run business, rude staff, inconsistent hours. I guess I'll just start buying my gaming stuff at Target or Walmart, because this place stinks.
