Past Present Future first won me over while window shopping gave curious glimpses of Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali, Day of the Dead, extensive artworks, jewelry, and fascinating lamps. But walking in and becoming a customer has allowed me to discover an eclectic emporium of artistic curiosities that's organized and crafted by a cool old couple. I curve to 4 stars just because a lot of the art & craft items inside do yield a bit of a hefty price tag, especially for my favorite Day of the Dead items. But whether you're looking for craft jewelry, something new & exciting to hang on your wall, a new coffee mug, a fancy housewarming gift, and then some; you'll find it here. It's especially perfect if you need to shop for someone as eclectic and quirky as my mom is. I confess: I have to restrict the number of visits I make to PPF. Otherwise, we'd be broke, living in the car, and since the car is a Volt, that's not too appealing. Past Present Future is a uniquely curated emporium for the funky and offbeat in home decor, jewelry, and decorative items. This is the place to go when you're looking for that wall clock with the Dali-esque hands, that funky jewelry, a genuine (we own this) three foot tall stuffed Marvin the Martian complete with felt ray gun, that cool lamp with the "Rosie the Riveter' graphic on it and, much to the Young 'Un's delight, the Dr. Who Post-it Note set complete with mini Daleks. The store reminds me SO much of the best of Philly's South Street before Corporate America took over and echoes Manayunk's Main Street drag during it's retail heyday. The owner, Sherry Tillman, understands her market well and, while there is a large selection and inventory, there is also the sense that she carefully curates what she stocks. She and her staff are super nice and accommodating. Sherry is also a community supporter, heading up the "First Friday: A Main Line Art Experience" for many years. The store's offerings are NOT 'cheap' in any sense of the word. Prices reflect the care that the artisans put into the finished product and the final product is well made. This is not cheap crap from China. That does not mean you can't get anything for under $20, there are good selections at every price point. It means that the price is properly valued for the work it took to create and reflects the economies of a small business offering that to the public. When you're looking for that beautifully crafted, funky, slightly offbeat or iconic advertising/folk/cultural piece, this is the place to go. read more

This place is really cute! I wish I had known it existed a month ago, as there were plenty of gift options there for the holidays. A little too late, unfortunately! I did walk out empty-handed on this visit, but I'd go back to purchase some high quality, unique items in the future. Of note: The shop is EXPENSIVE. Keep that in mind. read more

I had to write this review because I couldn't disagree more with Jessica P R. Past, Present and Future is the store for fun. It's filled with such interesting, eclectic items that I dare you to not buy something. Lots of items are hand made and the staff knows about each artist. I find the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly especially Sherry, the owner. If you want to buy a gift, tell her what you want to spend and she will show you dozens of items that meet your needs. I would call it the best place on the Main Line if you are looking for a gift or house warming present. Loads of great stuff! read more

After recently moving to Ardmore, this was one of the first shops I was so excited to check out as I usually love novelty gift boutiques of this variety. When I walked in, I was thrilled by the size and scope of the goods and started to recognize some of the same lines of merchandise I've seen in other stores. Oooh, how fun! Unfortunately, the fun stopped there as every time I picked up an item and took a gander at the outrageous price, I got more and more annoyed. The whole, "well this is the Main Line" line is just getting oh-so-tired. I can understand some of the higher price points for local artists crafts, but really, $20 funny fridge magnets that anywhere else would normally be $5 dollars is just obnoxious. Yeesh, what a disappointment. I can't be alone as the whole time I was in the shop no one bought anything and normally these types of stores do quite well. The owners seemed very nice and I'm writing this review hoping they might think twice about lowering their prices because I think they would have a much more successful business. As it stands now, I won't bother going back. No one likes price gouging ...even if it is the Main Line. read more

Though the hand-crafted merchandise is pricey, there are a lot of wonderful small gifts and unique items towards the back that are more affordable. Also, some lovely off-beat greeting cards. there are also eclectic smaller items on the cashier's counter, and less expensive jewelry. If you are a repeat customer, or even a repeat browser who asks questions, the staff will warm up to you. Normally, I would expect business owners and employees to be always friendly to customers, but if you are dealing with artists or fine crafts makers, they can often be an off-beat bunch, and not so quick to be fake-nice for the sake of their business. Once I got to know the folks who work at this shop, and once they got to know me, they've been friendly and have gone out of their way to contact a jewelry maker when a pair of their less-expensive earrings broke, even after two years. But most of the times I am in there, I am not buying and the owner has been kind to me nonetheless. read more

I've been shopping at PPF for almost as long as it's been in business. I followed Sherry from Philly out to Ardmore and can say without reservation, it is my favorite store. Every time I go in I not only find something perfect (wedding, birthday, holidays, etc.) but I find ten other things I have to have. She has the greatest selection of beautiful and funky anywhere.
