Guess I was focused on getting to donuts, but I'm glad I finally noticed it and now I stop in whenever I'm in the area. It's a smallish space, but well organized with a wide selection of genres. It's primarily books, but they also have DVDs and a small CD section. There are a few stepstools scattered around to help you reach the items on the higher shelves which I appreciate as a not super tall person. I find the CD section difficult to shop though, as it's on lower shelves and even with my glasses on it's tricky to read the small type on the cases near the floor. The employees are friendly and polite and always happy to help if you're looking for a specific title. I've only ever purchased here, but they also take items for trade-in, although you need to make an appointment for that. The prices are generally in line with other used bookstores in the area. Definitely sign up for their e-mail list, as they frequently send out discount codes. Unlike some used bookstores I frequent, I don't always leave here with a find, but I often come across a book on my TBR list at a good price.

I easily found 3 I wanted within a few minutes, then went back looking in the Middle East section for some titles that might help a subject I'm studying at the moment. The place is laid out very neatly, but the titles are arranged in the careless way that you want and love in a used bookstore, allowing you to dig for treasures on your own, albeit within neatly defined genres. Nestled in a row of historic buildings & shops, this tiny little bookstore manages to have a vast variety of books while at the same time being carefully curated. Things are mostly grouped by type, though there's also a delightful jumble, books you wouldn't expect to be side-by-side on a shelf, yet they work. The owner is delightful, happy to chat and also perfectly comfortable with silent exploration. The various recommendations are written by hand, posted right by the book on the shelf. It's an easy walk from the Ardmore train & bus. Parallel metered parking on street and a large municipal garage around the corner. Their pricing is fair, not a race-to-the bottom, also not extravagantly overpriced. You can pay slightly less to a vast conglomerate whose executives take joyrides to space while driving their s workers to exhaustion. Or you can come to this place that loves books and the people that read them. I choose the latter. I hope you do too.

How fortunate I am to have this gem of a shop within walking distance from my home. It's BIPOC and woman-owned and has the most amazingly curated selection of books I've ever seen. When I'm in there I want to buy one of everything. It's a small shop, but they use every inch of space to fill it with the best books. The owner is wonderful and always up for an enthusiastic discussion on books and reading. They host a wealth of events, including author talks, book clubs, and even book bedazzling events. It is not a place to go and pick up the newest best-selling mystery or romance novel. If you are looking for a bookstore focusing on Quaker publications there probably isn't a better one in the country. Even if you're not looking for Quaker publications, but are looking for texts on spiritual matters this bookstore would be an excellent resource for you.

WTG on building community, B&N. There is plenty of parking, and it's an easy walk from the Bryn Mawr regional rail station. They have books and toys on 2 floors, and a cafe upstairs. The staff is really friendly, and if you mention their community events, they will clue you into what's on the calendar. I always support local bookstores over chains, and that won't change. My 8 year old son got a gift card to GameStop for his birthday 6 months ago. He chose to use it to buy a GameStop pass, so he could get a free pack of Pokémon cards every month (which the guy working sold him on). We've then proceeded to come on here every month to them never having Pokémon card packs, so he feels like he wasted his gift card. They won't even let him get the $.50 singles in its place since they can't fulfill what he wants. Additionally, there's always ever only 1 person working, and no matter who is working they are completely inept. They are no help in finding things, and when more than even one customer is in the store they disintegrate like wet toilet paper. Lastly, they never keep consistent hours. I can rarely get here during the week because they close at 5, and now they're not even open on the weekends when they say they will be. They went as far as to post a calendar on their door for their holiday hours, and yet here I am at 10:39 on a Saturday, when they say they'll be open at 10, and no one is even answering their phone let alone removing the gates form the door and opening the store. Horribly run business, rude staff, inconsistent hours. I guess I'll just start buying my gaming stuff at Target or Walmart, because this place stinks.
